Let's talk about Saliva and Tear Staining in pets!

Please note... one treatment at a groomer cannot fully remove stains unless the hair is cut or shaved to start fresh. They didn’t get there in one day, they aren't gonna be gone in one either! That being said, let's talk about it more and how you can help remove and prevent staining!

If your dog's white fur turns reddish-pink when he/she licks itself, it could be due to a number of reasons. One common reason for this color change is staining from licking and tears, which can be caused by various factors such as saliva, food, or environmental factors. Here are some steps you can take to help turn your pet’s hair white again:

Identify the Cause: Try to determine the underlying cause of the staining. Is it primarily saliva staining, or could it be caused by something in the diet or environment? Identifying the cause can help you address the issue more effectively.

Regular Grooming: Regular grooming both at home and with your groomer is important to keep your dog's fur clean and free from stains. Brush your dog regularly to remove any dirt or debris that may be contributing to the staining. Wiping the face and eye area daily even with just water, will help. For my poodles (who can be notorious for tear staining, especially the lighter colored dogs!) I use "Naturevet Tear Stain Remover" daily and also "Eye Envy" at least 2x a week. This regimen removed Maisy's eye stains completely!! Keep reading below for more on my 2min max routine to keep my guys eyes tear stain free!! (links will be posted in comments)

Use Whitening Shampoo: There are whitening shampoos specifically designed for dogs that can help brighten and whiten their coats. These shampoos are formulated to remove stains and brighten white fur. I recommend and use Lillian Ruff whitening and brightening shampoo. Its tear free, smells great and tested among others and does just as good or better AND most of all it IS SAFE AROUND EYES!! (Link in comments)

Wipe Down Licked areas: After your dog licks, you can gently wipe the fur with a damp cloth to remove any saliva or residue that may be causing the staining.

Always Consult a Veterinarian: If the staining persists despite your efforts, it's a good idea to consult with your veterinarian. They can help determine if there are any underlying health issues contributing to the staining.

Dietary Changes: Sometimes, diet can play a role in causing staining on a dog's fur. Ensure your dog is on a high-quality diet that suits her needs and doesn't contribute to staining suchvas colored kibble!

Water Quality: If your dog's water source is contributing to the staining, consider providing filtered ir distilled water to help reduce the minerals or impurities that may be causing the discoloration. Also stainless steel or ceramic crock water and food bowls are best as they are easily disinfected and don't add to the problem like some plastics can.

Remember that it's important to be gentle when trying to remove stains from your dog's fur, as excessive scrubbing or harsh chemicals can irritate the skin and eyes.

I DO RECOMMEND ALL PETS WITH EXCESS EYE STAINING SEE A VET TO RULE OUT ISSUES THAT MAY BE CORRECTABLE!! Then if that is ruled out, I am willing to help with regular grooming and some at home care, to help remove stains from your pets coat. I find it is important to wipe the face at a minimum once daily to remove the tears and prevent staining. So, If you can commit to taking 1-2 minutes out of your day as you pet your pooch, you can have a beautiful tear free face too. I find that if I tie it to a daily routine, it REALLY KEEPS ME ON TRACK! For example, like when I wash my face, I do all the poodle's faces too! It takes me a minute to get the tear stain solution and facial wipes, then maybe 10 secs per poodle x 6 to wipe their faces, remove unsightly eye boogers and keep their faces bright. I also take pictures to remind me of the progress we've made!

Again, It's always a good idea to consult with a professional groomer or veterinarian for personalized advice based on your dog's specific needs.

I own Great Danes and I'm seriously dumbfounded that a giant breed would be listed as ok over 6 months for either s*x! I prefer the 18 month and older for either s*x for proper growth and joint health. Especially when their own literature states that Danes have growth plates that close later than most breeds!

I'm the kind of groomer that can groom your pet just once, yet still shed tears when I hear of a client's pet passing... and that's proudly, just the KIND OF GROOMER I AM!

I want the best life and grooming/boarding/training experiences for all pets I interact with! I want them to look forward to seeing me vs dreading the grooming process.

Just like the scared German Shepherd mix pup I did nails on this morning, she came in and we got her nails clipped and dremeled without traumatizing her and instead building trust and a foundation for good grooming experiences for the REST OF HER LIFE. This also helps your pet in all life situations, including your vet. There's a big reason why so many local veterinarians recommend me. It's not just my beautiful grooms, but I truly make their jobs easier too with my consistent training and building of trust and confidence with the pets I groom!!

Did I do her nails in 5 mins, NOPE. It took me almost 45 minutes to complete it, but we did it with gentle reassurance, rewarding good behaviors, correction of bad ones, and lots of calming and patience. I am not going to hold your dog down and force it thru a scary experience just to get it done fast. I do NOT want to be fast! I want to be someone your dog sees as a TRUSTED friend!! And THAT IS THE ONLY KIND OF GROOMER I WANT TO BE!

Effective immediately!!

Any boarding and/or board and train clients will be required to pay a 50% Non-Refundable portion of the boarding/training fee in order to be placed on the boarding schedule. I can't turn away other potential boarders or board and train clients for someone who may not even show up... hence the new policy.

I am not a large scale boarding facility and limit my bookings to only a few dogs. I do this so that each dog gets lots of extra attention and care. Yes, I'm probably more than other boarding facilities but... I'm on the premises and your dog isn't treated like an inmate here. Each dog gets lots of individual attention and play time. They have a huge yard to play in and well socialized dogs that they can interact with if deemed safe to do so.
