For a while Savior and I got a little bit stuck. I couldn’t get comfortable enough with the groundwork where I wanted to start riding her. So I asked for help. I’m so glad I did! I should have asked for it sooner!! Just a little perspective, encouragement and a few quality tips from a trusted professional put us back in the right direction. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it!! Here is one of Savior’s first few rides. I love how relaxed she looks walking ❤️

We pick up our mustangs for the Waymaker’s Wild2Willing TIP Challenge tommorow!! These two beauties will be coming to Anzalone Ranch. Sooo so so excited to meet them. Both of these sale authority mustangs will be available after the competition.

I will be gentling the big bay Little Owyhee mare. And shout out out to our friend who will be gentling his first mustang, the Antelope gelding. This will be such a memorable journey. Stay tuned!!

Titus was my 2021 Texas TIP Challenge Mustang. A sweet, hard-working client of mine has chosen to adopt him and put him in training. I’m excited for her too, because I would not have let him go just anywhere with anyone. ❤️ Here he is looking handsome for first saddling.

Ty can be a very anxious horse, and he did not like anything swinging or moving around him. I did lots of groundwork to prepare him for the saddle. I’m proud of him for sticking with me and packing the saddle around like a real gentleman today.

Today in the life of Savior ❤️🎉🎉

10/01/2022

Savior has now been here 2 months and is becoming more and more used to life with humans. She was able to get her teeth floated and dewormed this month. She tries SO HARD, but she still holds so much fear and tension in her body. She has very sudden bolting reactions which we are definitely working through before we start saddle training. 😜

I hope you enjoy watching this months transformation!

I've posted on this before, but it bears repeating:

There are 3 things that once you lose, they are incredibly difficult to get back:

Respect
Sensitivity(feel)
Confidence

You can lose them by:

Being too soft when you should be firm, being too firm when you should be soft.
Being abrupt when you should be smooth, being smooth when you should be abrupt.
Waiting too long to release, or not releasing at all!
Doing too much too soon.
Doing the same thing over and over never expecting a "degree of difficulty" improvement.
And finally, by NOT being consistent with your expectations (no matter what... no matter if it inconveniences YOU, you must be consisted with your animals if you want them to reach their potential.)

Pic for attention...I admire the feel, focus and effort this horse is giving me in this moment💪❤️

I just have to share these adorable pictures of Clare and Blaze produced by Seth Miles Photography. Besides the serious cute factor of these photos, I just love how in most of them, they have steps/strides that seem to be in sync with the other.

When preparing for the show, Clare worked really hard at trying to keep slack in the lead rope. She even said during her freestyle that she paid extra special attention to making sure the lead rope was slack. Look at the difference in their strides when the lead rope is pulled tight vs when she was able to keep it slack. These pictures really capture their partnership!

Clare’s mustang show:

Clare and Blaze competed in hand in a pattern class, trail class, and a freestyle. Her little mustang followed her everywhere and did (almost) everything asked. We had such a fun weekend and Clare ended up getting 2nd place overall in the youth division!! We just had a blast together this weekend- everyone was so encouraging of Clare.

For the next 3 months or so, I get to work with This sweet mare, Savior. She is not a mustang, but as far as we know, she was completely untouched. She was rescued by Lauren Brubaker from a kill pen where she came in with many other mares from the same facility. We loaded her up Aug 2nd, and brought her here for gentling and training. She is very nicely put together, very athletic, turns on a dime. I can’t wait to get her going under saddle!!

Here is a montage of her first month here at Anzalone Ranch. Her barn name is Savvy around here, she is a cool chic.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!! This Pancake HMA yearling gelding is looking for a new address after the TIP challenge sept 2-4. Trained and cared for by my 9 year old daughter, (with lots of help from me.) His name is Blaze, but bunny rabbit would have also been an appropriate name because of his super cute frostbitten ears. Currently stands about 12.2 hands. He halters, leads, picks up all 4 feet, learning pivots and side pass in hand. He is thoughtful and had a very good attention span given his age. Please let me know if you are interested or if you have any questions!

I have had the pleasure of training this beautiful boy “Smokey” for the past 2 months. A 2 year old from Spruce Pequop Hma. He had been shuffled through several different homes/trainers since he was picked out of holding last year, so he was still very fearful and reactive. Here is a fun little video of our time together. I wish I had taken more videos of the spooks and bloopers so you could appreciate more how far he has come. He will be going home to his owner tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited for them! Thank you Kimberly Underwood for trusting me with your boy!!

Working on haltering. Clare has been away at camp and we were on vacation, but Blaze didn’t forget his training at all. They are doing great!

He won’t let me touch him but Clare is making a friend.

Titus and I just got back from the Texas TIP Challenge. I am so proud of him, and how hard he tried! It was Ty’s first long trailer ride (3hours) and first time staying in a stall. We ended up 4th in pattern, 3rd in Trail, and 3rd in Freestyle where we dressed up in an awesome Viking costume!! So much fun!!

We loved meeting all the other mustang trainers and new friends. Thanks to all of you who have supported me, followed Ty’s training, and helped make this weekend possible. I started out planning to adopt him out, but he will be staying with me. I plan to saddle train him and show him under saddle next year :)

It was a blast and I am already looking forward to next year!!

Mustang TITUS, 3 yr old, triple b hma. We haven’t updated in a while, here are some fun things Ty has done over the past few weeks. He got his feet done, learned to load in a trailer, likes the pond, thinks kids are interesting, and in general just getting used to sights and sounds. He also recently learned the beginning of sidepass. He is turning into such a sweet, simple, calm boy.

08/01/2021

This is huge! Ty used to be too cautious and worried, but this week he learned to take treats from my hand. In fact, now he would take treats from anyone’s hand. He is really loving this new skill. 😘😄

Ty has a gotten in the rhythm of domestic life. Every morning he gets haltered, tied to the fence while he eats his food. Meanwhile the chickens scratch at his feet looking for what he drops. He stands calmly and waits to go back to his paddock.

07/22/2021

He is slow to trust, but very calm nd thoughtful. He is available for adoption to a qualified adopter. Message me if you are interested in this sweetheart ❤️

Good morning!! Still a little snorty but he is coming around 💕 The past few days he has learned to stand for fly spray, been hosed down, got pets and scratches all over, and is much easier to catch. Yay Ty!

06/11/2021

#4288, 3 yr old out of Triple B HMA, is now named TITUS or "Ty" for short. Ty is a real sweetheart. He is smart, ready to learn and trust as soon as he remembers to stop and THINK. After he got over his fear of the rope hanging down and dragging on the ground, he learned to lead in about 5 minutes. ❤️❤️ Our next goal is to get used to fly spray, I feel so bad for him having to deal with all the bugs.

He is available for adoption after the competition September 4-5. Please let me know if you are interested or would like to meet him!! Located in Princeton, tx

06/10/2021

#4288 is a sweet, curious, but cautious boy. He tries SO hard which is what makes him so much fun to work with! Here he is trying his best to stay with me instead of running off, and he follows me a bit when I walk away to take the pressure off. ❤️❤️ So far his progress he has learned that humans sometimes mean that yummy food is on the way. He lets me approach and pet his neck on both sides and is learning to accept the halter.

This sweet boy is available for adoption after the TIP challenge in September. Please let me know if you are interested!
