Shrek! He left here for a new home at 14 months old.... It didn't work out and he came back here 8 months later.. Since then he has been doing fabulous and has gotten pretty strong on my dog broke cows and pretty handle able so I decided it was time to see how he did in a trial. We went to the Top Cow Trial in Weiser and I almost decided not to run him because the cows were wanting to stomp dogs and people as well the first morning. But I decided that I could go out and see what kind of a set we got and then decide whether to continue or not. The set we got on the first day just wanted to run somewhere and they moved off of the dog fairly well. They weren't trying to go after him... I questioned at one point if a cow was going to come after me so I ran for cover...having experienced one coming after me after Kojack's run. Shrek ended up third place on that run. The second day he drew two nice cows and one high headed runner that was just looking for a way out and didn't want to move off of the dog. A few minutes into it I decided we were probably going to just be running the cows around the arena for the whole time so I decided to retire.... then...changed my mind because we did have a few points and the people before me hadn't gotten a lot of points...so ...we kept on... I intended to keep a tight rein on Shrek and not let him get in a position to get hurt but he took the initiative a few times on his own and he was taking care of himself so I didn't stop him. I felt like for his first time and never having encountered anything other than pretty docile cows, that Shrek did really well. He showed me that he is up for the task and just needs more experience and time... Another nice one by Savvy/Ben.

Hatterhaven Stockdogs and Livestock will have some beef AND some lambs (If the guard dogs can keep the predators out of them) available later this year. Posting this now so folks can plan ahead.

I have one coming 2 year old heifer....1/2 Dexter, 1/4 Jersey, 1/4 Limousine... Ready to breed NOW...or...butcher later this fall.

I have one (about to be weaned) heifer: 1/2 Angus, 1/4 Jersey, 1/4 Limousine... Very nice...will make a nice cow or butcher beef.

Both of these heifers are out of a 1/2 Jersey, 1/2 Limousine cow that is super chill, great disposition and easy to milk when necessary.

I have one coming 2 year old 1/2 Jersey, 1/2 Dexter steer that will be available for butcher any time after August.

I haven't started lambing yet so I don't know how many lambs will be available but it is doubtful I will keep any so all will be available any time after weaning.

All will be valued at current market value at the time of transaction. Will add pics later.

I am extremely happy to report that Harley has found his forever home. It seems like the perfect match for him... A loving family with lots of attention and some sheep of his own to help with, a few cows now and then and even a couple of goats...nothing too taxing for Harley....who is now called Barley...to fit in with the hops business. Hopefully a family picture will be coming soon!! Congratulations Harley (Barley) and the Bear/Krause family!!

Harley would really love to find his very own family! I don't understand why he is still here. He is the absolute sweetest boy. Very laid back but still more than willing to help gather and move your farm animals! He loves to play with water also! :) How has this handsome boy not been snagged already. 1 1/2 years old, neutered and UTD on shots. What you get is a mature, trained, neutered, vaccinated farm dog.... Located north Idaho. Videos available.

HH DREW:
This handsome fella is announcing his availability for service to the female Border Collie population to contribute to the working dog gene pool. He is the whole package! Since he was a young pup he has had the attitude that he is all that AND a bag of chips and it turns out he was right.
VERSATILITY: He works sheep with skill, knowing where their bubble is and staying right at that bubble as long as they respect him… When necessary he will use his teeth on them but he is still very respectful and usually it is more like a warning shot, just letting them know that he has them and isn’t afraid to use them.
With cows it is different, he will still stay out of their bubble as long as they are going along with the program but when he feels he needs to use his teeth they will know he has them…it won’t be a warning.
TRAINABILITY: Drew was a dream to train and a dream to work. He did everything so naturally I was basically teaching him commands. He has a natural wide outrun and gather and will go the distance to find the stock when I send him on a blind outrun. He has the natural savvy to work independently when asked to do real ranch work along with the precision and biddability to excel in the trial world.. These are qualities that are likely to be passed to his offspring.
COMPETITIVE TRIAL DOG: He has so far competed in a USBCHA sheep trial, an MSSA sheep trial and NCA/MSSA cattle trial both horseback and on foot and placed in all.
PEDIGREE: Drew comes by all of this talent naturally. His sire and dam are both winners in the trial world and come from long lines of easy to train dogs with incredible stock savvy and winners in the trial world.
GENETIC TESTING: Drew has been tested by Wisdom Panel and is clear on all 272 genetic health tests.
And he is super handsome on top of all of that!

HH Drew!

This photogenic little fella entered his first ever dog trial this weekend.. It was a sheep trial. He was in two USBCHA classes out in the field doing 300 yard outruns and also entered the nursery class of the MSSA arena trial... The first day he did pretty good out in the field on both runs,...I think he was 5th of 7 in the nursery class and 9th of 17 in the Pro-Novice class.. Then ended up 3rd of 7 in the MSSA nursery class. The second day the sheep had had enough and were super flighty...Both Drew and his Mom kinda came untrained....feeding off of the sheep.... but then Drew went back in the arena for the MSSA nursery class and won it and put him in first for the average from both days!!! Quite acceptable for his first trial...but the real test was today at home... I have two ewes with small lambs and needed to move them to a different pen.. I used Drew and he had never been asked to work new mamas or small lambs! He was an absolute champ!!! Next weekend he is entered in his first cattle trial.. And just in case any nice little girl Border Collies are interested, Drew's DNA panel came back clear!!
