Willing Workers On Local Farms (WWOLF)
at Dancing Cow Farm
Willing Workers On Local Farms (WWOLF): WWOLF is a project of Central Oregon Locavore Non-Profit. Our mission is to lend a hand to local farmers and ranchers while educa ng the community
about the true nature and cost of local food.
The farm: Dancing Cow Farm is located on the outskirts of Prineville.
Farmer/owner Jerre Dodson has developed, improved, and diversified the site using sustainable farming techniques since 2002.She currently produces pork, lamb, eggs, chickens, and beef, flowers, herbs and vegetables..
How it works: Meet at the farm at 10am (we encourage folks from
Bend to carpool from Central Oregon Locavore at 9am). After a
round of introductions we’ll split into groups and get to work. We'll
break for lunch around 12:30pm, then return to work until 3pm. Pace yourself and have fun!
Specific tasks that we're looking to complete at Dancing Cow include building and mending fences, planting root crops, and expanding a garden terrace.
Just so we don't catch you by surprise, we will ask that you sign a waiver before participating. What to expect: Good times, new friends, deep satisfaction, and a boots-on-the-ground education about local farming practices. Children are more than welcome with adult supervision! We love dogs, but please leave them at home for this event.
What to bring: Lunch, work gloves, closed-toe shoes, warm layers for the weather, snacks, water, and sunscreen.
