Troubleshooting Saddle Fit: The Final Steps from the Intermediate Equine Massage Class.
For the Spring Beginning Equine Massage Class we worked with Magnum on long standing saddle fit issues. In the first step moved Magnum around at liberty in the Round Pen in order to help identify places of misalignment. It doesn't make much sense to me to find a crooked saddle to fit a misaligned horse.
From there we started playing with saddle options. Putting the saddle on Magnum and seeing how he moved with the saddle as compared to without it and removing areas of restriction and imbalances as they came up. When we first met Magnum he would get extremely tense and sometimes blow up while being saddled. Magnum soon learned that our Beginning Equine Massage Classes were a place where he could be safe and receive the help he needed.
With only a few months of regular attendance, Natures Rein products to help support his body internally and diligent practice in between classes from his horse guardian, Magnum has made it to the final stage of saddle fitting. Which is learning how to rebalance properly at all three gaits under saddle with his rider.
When a rider has areas of tension that can deeply impact the horse's movement and comfort, so as part of the Intermediate Class we are also assessing areas of tension in the rider and helping to release them along with the horse, so that horse and rider can move forward together in a more balanced way.
We still have room in the Summer Introduction to Equine Massage Class for new students.

Let's talk GATE ISSUES!
We completely understand there can be so many different things going on with your performance horses. We always recommend consulting your performance vet first to make sure there are no underlying issues. Ruling out all other possibilities that could cause gate issues.
