Pet of the week ! 🥳

Archie is a Japanese chin 🐾
He came into get his Distemper-parvo Booster !
How adorable is he !?

Distemper and parvo are viral infections that can be fatal to dogs, and the distemper-parvo vaccine protects against both:

Canine distemper
A contagious virus that attacks a dog's respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. Symptoms include cough, fever , diarrhea, walking in circles, head tilt, muscle twitches, and seizures.

Canine parvovirus
A severe and often fatal disease that mainly affects the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms include vomiting, bloody diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, fever, and weight loss.

The distemper-parvo vaccine, also known as the DHPP vaccine, also protects against hepatitis and parainfluenza. Puppies should receive their first DHPP vaccine at 6-8 weeks of age, and then every 3-4 weeks until they are 16-20 weeks old.
Adult dogs should receive a DHPP booster shot one year after their puppy series, and then every 3 years after that.

Puppies are born with some antibody protection from their mothers, but their immune systems are vulnerable as they meet new viruses and bacteria for the first time. The vaccination series is critical because a partial series may leave your puppy unprotected and prone to disease.
