It's that time of year again, we are already seeing cheat grass/fox tails in pets. Below is some helpful information from Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon:

Many of these grasses are invasive and grow in abundance and in in Central Oregon, they become quite a problem with our pet population. Cheatgrass awns can be inhaled, swallowed, or carried away in a dog’s fur, creating larger problems for that animal down the road.

Grass awns are most commonly found in a dog’s paws, nostrils, ears and eyes. If the awn does puncture the skin, it will respond with inflammation and may form an abscess and potentially an infection. Awns that have entered the body, can migrate into the chest or abdominal cavities and may wreak havoc on internal organs.

It is important to follow these steps to protect your pet from wild grass awns:

Prevent your pet from running off trail through fields of wild grass and weeds.
Do not let your pet eat or sniff weeds and wild grasses
Clear the weeds in your yard
After a journey outdoors, check your pet’s paws and coat for awns. Brush your dog’s coat to be extra careful.
If your dog has a long heavy coat, consider trimming it for the summer months
Make sure to regularly check your dog’s eyes, ears and mouth
Look for signs of inflammation or symptoms of irritation in your pet, particularly if your pet is limping or frequently licking their feet.
If you think that your pet may have symptoms of a cheatgrass/awn related problem, contact your local veterinarian. The sooner the awn is removed, the better outcome you will have for your loved one.

Happy April Everyone! We hope everyone is doing well with this crazy central Oregon weather we've been having lately.

We wanted to let you know that you might be receiving your reminders a bit differently now. We now can send you text message reminders for prescheduled appointments, surgeries, year exams and vaccines that are coming due.
The great ladies up front, Nancy and Tiffany, will be verifying all of your information to make sure we have it correctly. This is due to a new and improved software program. You may also receive some duplicate reminders, we apologize for this.

We do ask that if we have left a message for prescheduled appointments and surgeries to contact us to confirm the appointment and surgeries.

If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call at
541-362-8666. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Have a great weekend!

02/02/2024

Happy February 1st! We hope everyone is doing well with the nice weather we have been having this past week.

We wanted to let everyone know that we are having some issues with trying to reach people via the telephone for appointment reminders/confirmation, post surgery updates, returning voicemail messages, and Dr. Holman trying to return calls to clients. For some reason our phone number seems to not be able to get through as if we are blocked or marked as robo/spam calls. We know the robo/spam calls have been horrible, we get them here at the clinic as well. At this time we are not able text people and we know not everyone has that capability either. We will try our best send an email if we are not able to reach you by phone and have an email on file for you. Those may also sometimes go to the junk/spam folders as well.

We try our best to reach everyone we can via the telephone (cell or home-if you have one) but we wanted to make you aware of this, since this seems to becoming a more common issue for several phone numbers we have.

We thank you for your patience and felt after having several issues with this we needed to let you know.

Have a great day!

We are participating again this year! Come visit us to show off your costumes and get a stamp for your passport, no tricks only treats!

What is Candy Crawl? Candy Crawl is a Halloween event hosted by the Prineville Chamber that provides an opportunity for our business community to get locals into their shops and storefronts. It is also a fun event that gives adults ways to participate in the tradition of trick or treating and the chance to win some amazing prizes and creates a safe way to trick or treat for kids. In short, adults get stamps in a passport book they can turn in for a prize drawing, while kids get candy!

IMPORTANT DETAILS!

Passports will be available to the public the week of October 23rd.
One passport per person for adults 18 and older.
Raffle prizes are available one per household, for those 18 and older only.
The passports are here at the Chamber office and all of the grocery stores. (Ericksons Thriftway | Grocery Bandit | Grocery outlet | Ray’s Food Place | Wagner’s Market).
