"I have been a client of River Valley Vets for over 30 years with my Arabian horses and dogs and cats. I brought Lucy my Cavalier Spaniel to be groomed for the first time at RVVS. Lezlie Claire was her groomer. Lucy can be a bit of a crybaby when being groomed. I arrived to pick her up a little early and I saw Lezlie just finishing up with Lucy. Lezlie had her back to the window so she didn't see me.
She trimmed one of Lucy's paws and then patted her head. Trimmed another paw and then gave her a couple kisses. And Lucy was wagging and completely happy with Lezlie.
As a pet owner I was delighted both with the grooming job and with the manner in which my dog was handled. ~Donna Hentges"

❗️ Important third party pharmacy notice: As of 7/1/24, we will no longer be approving prescription medication or prescription diet requests for online pharmacies (Chewy, Pet Meds, Petco, PetSmart, Amazon, etc.) via fax or verbal authorization. We have experienced significant issues in communicating with these retailers, leading us to make this decision. During the transition prior to July 1st, we will continue to fax a prescription.
We do not recommend purchasing products from third party online pharmacies due to storage and handling concerns as well as questions surrounding product guarantees. We cannot have our approval of these outside prescription requests to be construed as our trust in the source or safety of the product. Our commitment to our patients and clients is always our primary responsibility. We will gladly provide you with a written prescription to submit by mail to the retailer of your choice.
Please allow adequate time to pick up the written prescription from the clinic (a minimum of 24-48 hours). We are not able to email prescriptions. We have confirmed that clients may send prescriptions in for veterinary diets electronically themselves. All other original prescriptions would need to be mailed in to the retailer with your order number.
If your pet is receiving a compounded medication through Bloomington Drug, Wedgewood or Covetrus, there are no changes to the way your prescriptions are obtained.
We partner with an online pharmacy, Covetrus (vRXPro), that works directly with the manufacturers of food and medications. Our online pharmacy offers competitive pricing and discounts. Products on this site have the same guarantee as those you purchase at our clinic. We trust this site and have software in place to streamline prescription issuing and approval. Prescription diets can be ordered directly from Purina Vet Direct or Hill’s to Home as well.
In summary, these are the three options for purchasing prescription medications or diets going forward.
1. Purchase your product directly from our clinic.
2. Purchase your products through the RVVS online store (this can be accessed from our website www.rvvs.vet ).
3. Pick up an original hard copy of the prescription and submit it to the retailer of your choice via mail (or electronic submission for veterinary diets).
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to using the great amount of time previously spent on dealing with third party retailers, to continue to provide exceptional patient care and client service.

It's that time of year again. The pesky GNATS are back! Don't be alarmed if you see round, flat, red lesions on your dog's belly, these are most likely gnat bites. The good news is that they are not causing much harm at all and usually resolve in a few days time. If your dog is overly itchy or the lesions are raised, have discharge or are scaly, then we probably should see your dog for an exam. Otherwise, just keep an eye on the gnat bites and they will be gone before you know it!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our holiday animal shelter food/supply drive. Between river valley staff , our clients and cross creek stables, we were able to fill 3 giant boxes with layers of goodies! And we raised over 250$ in cash donations it was a great turnout and I can’t wait to do it again next year ❤️🎄. It feels good to know that all these animals will have a great Christmas! ❤️💚❤️
