✨MEET THE TEAM: SOPHIE✨

Sophie joined our team in June 2021. As one of our senior staff, she has knowledge in many areas. She has been around a variety of animals her entire life with a special interest in horses. We especially appreciate the years of bunny knowledge she brings to the team.

Sophie has a calm, compassionate personality and a true passion for animals. Learn more about Sophie below:

Why did you pursue a job pet sitting?

“I love all kinds of animals and would much rather spend every waking hour with an animal than anybody else. Maybe my friends and family. 🙂 We can learn so much from animals and their unconditional love touches me so much.”

Do you work anywhere else?

“I have my own business with a friend making jewelry. We connect people. We want everyone to feel heard and seen so we decided to create a physical reminder that you are. We believe that telling your story will empower you and others.”

What’s your favorite type of animal to care for?

“I don’t really have a favorite pet to care for. I love a variety of animals. I do wish though that we had more horses to take care of.”

Tell us about your family.

“I have four kids ages 12, 16, 21 and 23. My two oldest are on their own, but thankfully are very close. Most of my family is in Austria now and I know what it means to have family so far away. I’m grateful that I can see my two oldest whenever I want to. Family is everything to me.”

Tell us about your pets.

“We have three cats, two bunnies and a horse.”

What is your favorite part of the job?

“My favorite part of the job is being surrounded by so much love. I love when a pet gets to know you and the next time you visit, the animal is so excited to see you. I also like working with animals whose trust l need to win and then seeing the progress. I enjoy working with animals who have medical needs. That must stem from previously working as a nurse.”

Any general care pointers for our clients?

“Always leave paper towels for potential messes.”

“I grew up in Berlin, Germany and Namibia, Africa.”

Emerson joined our team in June 2024 and helps during her downtime and school breaks. Her love for animals shines through in the energy she brings to each visit. Compassionate, detail-oriented, and incredibly reliable, Emerson is a valued member of our team.

Why did you decide you wanted a job pet sitting?

“I love animals! I babysit Justina’s kids and working with her has been so easy and amazing.”

Do you have another job?

“I am an Ice hockey Referee”

What is your favorite animal or breed to care for?

“I love caring for retrievers, they are always so happy and put a smile on my face.”

What pets do you have?

“I have a 9 year old miniature golden doodle named Penny.”

What is your favorite part about the job?

“Meeting so many amazing animals. Every animal has a different personality and it definitely shows!”

What is a general care tip you have for clients?

“If able, set out the stuff we will need that visit. For example-set out the leash if you know we are going on a walk.”

Tell us about your family.

“I am very close with my parents especially with my mom. My brother is a Junior at Bemidji State.”

“I am the Captain of two high school sports teams (golf and hockey).”

A Tribute to a Sweet Bunny 🐰💙

At JPSS, it’s no secret that we adore bunnies. With a large clientele of bunny owners, we’ve proudly become the go-to experts for bunny care in our community.

I’ve been a bunny owner since 2007, and over the years, our team has learned so much about the unique care bunnies require. As my bunnies age and develop more medical needs, I’ve come to rely on our team to provide the same love and attention I would when I’m away—and they’ve never let me down.

Last week, we said goodbye to Nimbus, who passed away at around 10-11 years old. As an elderbun, he faced his share of health challenges, but our team’s dedication ensured he was always cared for with kindness and compassion.

I miss Nimbus deeply. His spicy lionhead antics filled my bunny room with energy and kept me on my toes. This post honors his sweet life and the lives of all the beloved pet bunnies who have crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

Rest in peace, sweet Nimbus. You’ll always be in our hearts.

Cat Sitting Tips for Cat Lover’s Month 🐾

When hiring a cat sitter, daily visits should be a must. A lot can happen in just one day! Over the years, we’ve encountered:
• A cat stuck behind a washing machine
• Cats that became very sick suddenly
• Cats accidentally locked in rooms

Recently, we even helped a client whose furnace broke, leaving their home dangerously cold. Daily visits ensured we caught the issue before it caused damage to their pipes. We’ve also heard stories about cats turning on stoves or faucets—another reason daily check-ins are so important to minimize risks.
