Dental Month is still going strong! As a quick recap, we have started Dental Month early this year and are offering $50 off all canine and feline dental cleanings through the end of September 2024. We still have open slots at this time and would love to get your pet's teeth looking clean and their breath minty fresh ❤️

Dental cleanings are essential to maintaining your pet’s health, preventing disease and illness, and can significantly increase life expectancy. If you are interested in scheduling a dental cleaning for your pet and we have not seen your pet in the last 3-6 months, we recommend calling the hospital to schedule a free dental exam* to obtain a complimentary procedure estimate.

The Details: A $50 discount will be applied to the total cost for all professional canine and feline dental cleanings performed between August 19th, 2024 and September 30th, 2024. Dental cleanings are performed in-hospital Monday through Thursday. Appointment availability is limited and bookings are first come, first serve while appointment slots last. There is no household limit and the discount will apply to each pet who receives a professional cleaning during Dental Month.

Going back to school can be a bummer for some kiddos, which is why we are so excited to keep the fun going here at the hospital on Saturday, September 7th between 1 and 4 PM!

We have exciting news! In the past, we have offered discounts on all professional dental cleanings performed in the months of February and September. Dental cleanings are essential to maintaining your pet’s health, preventing disease and illness, and can significantly increase life expectancy.

In order to allow as many clients as possible to take advantage of the Dental Month Discount, we are excited to announce that we will be kicking Dental Month off early this year starting on Monday August, 19th 2024!

The thought of surgery or anesthesia can be nerve-wracking! While there is no such thing as “zero risk” when it comes to surgery, our staff takes every measure to make the procedure as safe as possible for your pet, before, during, and after their procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this event pet-friendy?

A: This event is for humans only! Although it will be taking place at the hospital, please leave your furry friends at home.

Q: Do I need to buy a ticket to this event?

A: This event is 100% free and no reservation/RSVP is required. Families will be taken back to participate in the event in the order they arrive. Please check in with our staff when you enter the lobby to join the list!

Q: Is the event indoors or outdoors?

A: The event will take place indoors. Our staff will be assisting all participants to keep things moving and avoid lines forming outside, but brief wait times outside may occur.

Q: Is this event for clients only?

A: This event is open to the entire community, not just clients! We encourage you to invite your friends and family to participate.

Q: Is there a dress code?

A: We provide all of the surgical gear (gown, hair net, mask) for kiddos to wear over their clothes during the event, so no costumes needed - however, costumes are certainly welcomed and encouraged!

Q: Does my child get to pick their own bear?

A: Yes! Children will have a variety of colored teddy bears to choose from. While they are all super cute and it can be hard to choose just one, teddy bears are limited to one per child.

Q: Is there an age limit to participate in Teddy Bear Surgery?

A: There is no age limit to participate in Teddy Bear Surgery and our staff has helped babies, toddlers, children, and teens get their bears feeling their best again!

Q: What does “Surgery” involve?

A: When it’s time to “operate” on the teddy bears, children will assist our staff in getting the bear prepped for surgery, including hooking the bear up to monitors, placing an IV line, and the most important job, holding the oxygen mask! The doctor will open the teddy bear with a small incision so the children can grab the toy the bear “swallowed.” The doctor will use a small threaded needle to sew up the bear after the heart is inserted. Children get to take home their teddy bear after going over discharge instructions (they get to take the toy home, too, just don’t let that teddy swallow it again)!

Celebrations are in order! One of our superstar kennel assistants, Aubrey, recieved a Lone Star degree this week, which is the highest achievement an FFA member can earn at the state level.

For the past 2 years while working at PTAH, Aubrey has been logging her experience and skills that she has learned in order to earn this award.

We are so proud of Aubrey for this achievement, and are so grateful to have her as part of the PTAH family. Congratulations on your award, and thank you for all that you do! ❤️

Some naughty teddies have been snacking on things they shouldn't have, and to help tackle the volume of "patients," Prosper Trail Animal Hospital is looking for some aspiring young doctors to scrub in and help our Veterinarians get these bears feeling their best again and find them loving new homes ❤️💙💜💛💚🧡

How quickly a year goes by - We want to celebrate Dr. Lauren Rooney's one-year anniversary with us!

If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Rooney yet, here are 10 things you might not know about this awesome vet ❤️

Q: What are three words you would use to describe Prosper Trail Animal Hospital to a new client?
A: Compassionate, Friendly, and Thoughtful

Q: What would you be doing if you were not a veterinarian?
A: I would like to think I’d be involved in the film or television industry. I wouldn’t want to be an actor, but I could imagine myself producing or directing.

Q: What is one food that you could eat every day for the rest of your life?
A: Tacos! Any and all kinds!🌮

Q: Who was your first pet?
A: A spunky miniature pinscher named Alex. He was a few months shy of turning 18 years old before he passed.

Q: What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
A: I would love to get into making pottery, painting, cross-sticking, or sewing. I’m not the most creative person though so they might be short lived hobbies.🎨

Q: If you were an animal, what would you be?
A: I would be an old Labrador Retriever. My in-laws have a 13-year-old sassy yellow lab named Holly, and she is my spirit animal.

Q: What was your favorite subject in school?
A: I loved Math, and I despised English!

Q: What is the strangest food combination you enjoy?
A: Pickle Juice and Popcorn!🍿

Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?
A: I love Christmas, but more specifically I love Christmas eve. The night before Christmas reminds me of my childhood and the magic of the season.

A: Going home to see my husband and dogs.

Happy Fourth of July! We hope you enjoy the day off and get the chance to partake in Independence Day traditions such as fireworks, barbecues, or some time by the pool 😎

Keep your pets safe this holiday by doing the following:

-If your pet takes anxiety medication for storms of fireworks, be sure to give the medications (as instructed) before fireworks may start for maximum benefit.

-Avoid feeding pets meat and/or bones from meat cooked on the barbecue, and keep charcoal and other burners far out of reach from pets - and keep them far away from a burning grill!

-Bring your pets inside before the sun goes down and let them potty before night falls so they aren't getting spooked in the yard if fireworks start going off.

-If possible, avoid taking your pet with you to watch fireworks as the combination of large crowds and loud noises may stress your pet out and cause them to attempt to flee. They will be much happier at home cozy in their bed or crate!

-Check your pet's ID tag and microchip information and ensure both are up to date with your most current contact information.
