We are Border Collie Rescue & Rehab

We are a network of volunteer foster homes, which means all dogs adopted through us come from loving, caring homes straight to you. Since we don't use a holding facility, our dogs come to their new homes calm, relaxed, and ready for a new life, rather than being nervous and traumatized from the noise and chaos of a shelter. We evaluate, rescue and rehabilitate

abandoned Border Collies, as well as other herding breeds, and find homes that will love and cherish them forever. All of our dogs have been fully vetted to include all vaccinations, heartworm test (and treatment, if necessary), spay/neuter, and a microchip with Border Collie Rescue & Rescue contact information. Upon adoption, you will be provided with physical proof of all treatments and veterinary reports, along with a rabies tag and chip information. We will never withhold any information about any animal, and are happy to disclose exactly where we got our dogs from, and when. Our dogs have been temperament tested, and reside in foster homes with families who are active and diverse - just like yours! Our dogs are crate trained and housebroken, and have received training in basic obedience using only positive reinforcement techniques such as leading, shaping, R+, and counter-conditioning. We believe a rescued dog brings experiences with them when they are rescued and with our loving rehabilitation they become perfect lifetime partners. Their backgrounds may vary - from breeders, to farm dogs, to strays - but all of them deserve the unconditional love that they will be glad to give their new families. We bring them into our homes and rehabilitate them by providing them with love, structure and routine. We mend wounds and clean them up both emotionally and physically. We know you have many choices of rescues to choose from. However, we believe once you get to know us, you will find our rescue family to be the perfect match for you and your family.

Heartland #30 is enjoying life as Fern - the sweetest and happiest pup.

Fern was picked up three weeks ago and has made huge strides from the incredibly timid and scared dog she was. Initially, the crate was the only safe space and humans were pretty terrifying. Since then, Fern has learned how much she loves toys especially collecting every single one from the toy bin and surrounding herself on the couch, butt scratches, both foster siblings including chasing BCRR alumn Kiki as she plays fetch, and having the wiggliest butt every time she sees her foster parents.

New situations are still pretty scary but we’re currently working on desensitizing Fern to cars and being in the car as well as sit. We also had a super successful vet visit recently.

We are so proud of Fern!
Watching her become a puppy is such a joy! 🌿✨

Heartland 29 update - Ember! ❤️

📍 Day 14 with Ember “Emi”. Although still timid and not sure if humans, “Emi” is starting to be curious taking food gently from our hand and giving the occasional hand kiss.

She will still not let us pet her, but gets close to us and will wag her tail when seeing us. 😍
Other dogs are still her safe place.
She is learning that toys are very fun, grass means potty, and being around people in a room isn’t as scary as it once was. It’s is amazing to watch her run with our 2 year old BCRR alumni, Oakley. 🫶

She is fast as lightening & such a happy puppy. She has a long way to go, but it is amazing watching this once terrified puppy discover new things and the good life.

Meet Daisy! The vet believes that she is 1.5 -2 years old. She is 40 pounds, fully vetted & is scheduled to be spayed on October 28th.

Daisy was found as a stray. We do not know anything about her previous life, but what we do know is that she's a really cool dog. Daisy is crate trained, walks well on a leash & loves to play fetch . Daisy is also great with other dogs & children. Another thing that Daisy loves is water, she will happily swim in a pool everyday. An active to moderately active lifestyle would be best for Daisy. If you're interested in Daisy please apply now.

Ember’s foster mama caught this moment earlier today that we just had to share!

This sweet girl is from our recent Heartland 29 hoarding group and while she is still very shy of humans, she’s coming out of her shell to knowing how to be a dog!
Her little bunny pounce on her toy made all of us cry tears of joy. 🤩

This is what rescue is all about.
Ever considered it? Contact us today and we can talk about it alllllllll day long! ☺️

☀️ A little Friday happiness for you all! ☀️

Ember is one of our newest BCRRT saves. She comes from the Heartland 29 - a hoarding case out of Amarillo, TX that was a joint rescue operation with our friends at BCSAVE and ABCR. ❤️
She is very shy but has so much potential and we can’t wait to see her and her siblings grow!!

Who's up for a quirky red and white coated BC mix girl who has so much love to give? Well then, I might just be your girl. I have a super silky and soft coat and you are going to love it and I don't mind people brushing it or washing it. But since I have a full white face, I must be very careful outside not to get sunburned especially around my eyes.

I'm Maddie and I am searching for an active young family with kids who will let me follow them everywhere, cuddle with them, and with someone home almost all day long or take me with you would be wonderful. I am around 1 1/2 years old, 40 pounds, spayed, potty and crate trained, and up to date on all vaccines and heart-worm preventatives. I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but warm up quickly. I haven't been around very young children yet, but my foster mom says I would be great with kids 5 and older, younger kids I might be too much in their face as I just want to love them and lay on them.

I'm a lower to mid level energy dog and like to chill wherever you are. I want to be a lap dog if you will let me. I also really need a confident dog sibling to play with and teach me that this world is fun. I LOVE playing with my foster dog sisters, it's so much fun. I love to do zoomies in the backyard and play chase with my foster's 3-year-old BC, and hunt for squirrel and geckos. I also live with 2 senior girl BCs and sometimes I can be a bit much in their face because I just want to play but I'm still learning that not all dogs want to play with me all the time. So if you have an older dog (10+) probably not a good fit for me.

Recently I started playing tug of war with my foster sister and it was so much fun. We tugged and tugged till all of a sudden there was this white fluff all over the place. I just don't understand how the toy exploded!

I love to chew on dog toys and I’m learning to play with them instead of destroy them. Playing fetch I have not figured out, not sure that’s gonna be my thing. I do like to chew on the ball but it you throw it at me to catch, I will duck, and if you throw it about a foot from me, I will get it and lay down and chew on it. Not sure I will ever get that game, but maybe one day I will if you give me lots of time to understand it.

I have been working on my manners and love getting treats, ice cubes, fruits and veggies. I have been told I am food motivated. I still like to jump up to give people hugs but when I do that, I am very gentle. I love going for walks, but I really need more training on this. My foster mom says going to training classes with you would greatly help my confidence but I only want to go with you to classes that are fun and positive where I get lots of treats! I'm very sensitive and can be afraid of new things. Even the big TV makes me jump back sometimes when the screen changes, but I have been working on not watching TV as it's not good for me anyway.

I'm great in a crate at night if needed as long as you are there with me, but I'd rather be in bed with you. I have been working hard on being OK in a crate when my foster family is gone. Thankfully my foster mom is home almost all the time. I get a bit of separation anxiety when they are gone and bark in my crate at times. My foster mom has been teaching me that I'm OK when they are gone. I now love getting stuffed Kong toys and that really helps me to settle. My foster mom has these cameras that can record me when gone. So, they know that I have learned to settle and not bark as much but I do get excited and bark a bit when they come in the door. They let me out once I settle and sit and I get to love on them. I have come a long way but will need time to get used to my new family being away from me. So please give me time.

I am located near northwest side of Houston. I look forward to meeting you soon! Please apply for me at BCRRT.COM.

Hi my name is Maximilian because I am one in a million. I do get called lots of other things though, like Max or Mad Max when I get the zoomies and run full speed though the house or Maxwell Smart when I learn new things really quickly (like I always do when there are yummy treats involved). Other names I hear a lot are What’s In Your Mouth?, Drop it!, Goober, Sweet Boy and Good Boy.

Now let me tell you a little about myself and the kind of human I am looking for. I am what they call a Borgi. You know, one of those fancy designer dogs. Actually I’m a Border Collie Corgi mix but Borgi has a nice ring to it. I am about a year old so still pretty much a puppy. I Have been going to school every week and am told that I am very smart and settled for my age. I know sit, down, come, heel, I make my turns very well on leash and walk with a loose leash right next to my person. I go out quite often with my foster parents and foster siblings so I do very well out in public at restaurants and stores. I am learning stay but need more work. I ride in the car very well and love to go with my people. I love my crate and like to go there to lay down when I get tired or want to be alone. I love to chew on horns, antlers and hooves. I will do anything for yummy treats. I LOVE LOVE LOVE people and other dogs and I get along well with the cat too.

I need a family or person who will want to continue training me to be a good boy and take me places with them. I have no problem staying home in my crate when you are gone but I want to play when you get home. I would love to be able to learn some kind of sports because I am so full of energy. I also would like a home with another dog to play with. If you think you are the right person for me then fill out the application at the link below and I will see if I agree.

Max is UTD on his vaccines and has been neutered and microchipped. He is on Heartworm and flea and tick preventative. He is good with other dogs, large and small, and cats. He has not been te**es with small children.

BCRRT is a Texas based rescue with fosters in TX and OK. Our adoption areas are TX, OK and surrounding states, we do not allow shipping/transport of dogs to other states. If you are interested and would like to apply please visit: https://bcrrt.com/adoption/ and fill out an application form.

In true dog rescue fashion - while we celebrated the 10th anniversary of BCRRT’s inauguration, we also rallied together as a rescue to save a dog who had been hit by a car and owner surrendered to the shelter.

Now named Jubilee - came into Harris County Shelter with her eye out of its socket and ⅓ fracture of her distal radius.

She was transported by a team of volunteers from South Texas to DFW where she was taken to the wonderful team at Allen Vet Hospital.
Today she will have her right eye removed as it cannot be saved and will also be spayed. We will also conduct additional x-rays to ensure no further facial or jaw fractures.
Tomorrow the specialist surgeon will be placing a plate in her front left leg to repair the distal fracture.
On top of that she also has a displaced pelvis but is believed to be able to recover from that over time.

We can’t say 100% what the final total of our vet bill will be with this one but what we can say is that we will give everything we can to fix this sweet girl.

Prim(Rose), affectionately known as Prim, is a vibrant, young, healthy, spayed, border collie mix with a heart full of love and a mind sharp as a tack. At just shy of one year old, Prim is a bundle of energy and intelligence, showcasing the strong herding instincts that her breed is renowned for. Though she may be on the smaller side, what Prim lacks in size, she more than makes up for in spirit and agility.

Prim thrives on engagement and loves to put her brilliant mind to work, making her an ideal companion for an active family that can provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Her keen intelligence means she’s a quick learner, eager to please, and ready to take on any challenge—whether it’s learning new tricks, navigating agility courses, or going on adventurous hikes.

While Prim adores human companionship, her strong herding instincts make her choosey about her canine friends. While Prim loves wrestling with her doggy friends, she is not a fan of sharing any of her toys. She would do best in a home without other dogs or with a very confident dog who can match her energy and leadership. This will allow Prim to shine as the loving and loyal companion she is meant to be, without the stress of navigating complex doggy social dynamics.

Prim is looking for a forever home that understands and appreciates the unique qualities of her breed—a family that is as active and adventurous as she is, ready to explore the world together. With the right guidance and love, Prim will not only be a faithful friend but a true member of the family, bringing joy, laughter, and lots of fun to her new home. If you’re looking for a smart, spirited, and sweet-natured dog to add to your life, Prim(Rose) is waiting to meet you.

Meet Izzy bizzy bee 🐝

Izzy is a very special girl and she’s looking for her very special family, maybe that’s you or someone you know!
Izzy is a former alumni dog who has come back to BCRRT - through no fault of her previous family - unfortunately circumstances changed and it was best for all parties that Izzy come back to us.

Since being back we have learnt all about Izzy and her wonderful personality. We have discovered the love she gives us is never ending, the cuddles she produces are out of this world and that she loves nothing more than her donut ring toy and a tennis ball!! She does take time to warm up but once she trusts you, she bonds to her person/people and is ready for all the adventures that lie ahead.

Izzy will need a home that is quiet. She would be best suited to a family with no young children and no other dogs.
She is such a sweet girl with love to give and would love to find her forever home with people willing to spend time with her, throwing a ball around, quiet walks with her humans and cuddles.
She is active but has an excellent off-switch and knows when it is time for inside vs outside.
Izzy would do well with an older couple, maybe an empty-nest home where she can be spoilt forever and ever. In return she will give you her unwavering loyalty and s***k 😝

Izzy is around 6 years old, UTD on all shots and spayed. She is crate trained but is perfectly fine out of one, she walks well on a leash but is strong. She rides well in a car and is located in the DFW area.

Interested? Reach out to us and apply today! We believe Izzy deserves the world and can’t wait to help her find it.

‼️ SCAM ALERT ‼️

recently, in the past and most likely in the future too - we have been having issues with scammers tagging our followers for “merchandise” or “rehoming pages” or even breeder pages!

Please know these are all a scam and BCRRT will never link anything we don’t already know, vet ourselves and are a part of. We try to jump on them as they happen but if we miss one, just let us know and we will nip it in the bud asap!

Cute dog photo for attention (psst! He’s coming soon!) 😝
