Hello everyone! I have a brief announcement to make regarding Augustus Greens...

Unfortunately, I will be shutting down the farm in the next couple of weeks 😞

My family and I are relocating to Maine in mid-August. This is for a number of reasons, the most important of which is our desire to raise our children there and, we hope, start a family farm business so we can continue sharing delicious food with people. It's a dream we've had for a long time, and one that we finally have an opportunity to realize, at least the first steps. This has been a whirlwind summer of re-evaluating our plans and priorities, but we are happy to have finally made a decision and to be making this big move.

It has been an absolute joy to grow microgreens for the Rhode Island community. This was my first business, and I learned a lot from it! I know that we would have seen more long-term success if we had decided to stick it out - but life takes you in unforeseen directions.

To my customers: I will send an email detailing last deliveries and make sure to issue refunds where necessary. Please keep an eye on your email for word from me. As always, reach out with questions or comments!

Thank you again to everyone for all of your support and encouragement this past year! It really has been such fun to run this business and get to know the local grower community.

Checking in on our greens 🌱🌱🌱

Here you can see how we grow our microgreens. After germination, we put our trays under full spectrum LED lights for about a week, depending on variety. These lights give our farm a slightly futuristic look 🚀🚀

Full spectrum lights allow us to grow super delicious and healthy microgreens, and as an indoor farm we don't have to worry about temperature changes. Meaning that you get to enjoy microgreens year round!

Good things to come! Pictured here are 12 new microgreens varieties that we hope to begin selling soon! Some of these will make their way into new mixes available on our website in July, while others are chef specials.

Know a chef looking to add flavor to their dishes! Have them reach out! We can grow dozens of microgreens varieties to order, to cater to any flavor profile. After a 2 week lead time, they will enjoy regular weekly deliveries year round.

Tasty radish microgreens turning bright red! These little guys are packed full of peppery radish flavor. We germinate them for 3 days and then grow them under light for any additional 4 to 5 days before harvest. We love their bright red stalks and delicious flavor - a perfect crunch for any sandwich!

Ever wonder what sunflowers look like right after germination? Here's one of this week's sunflower trays as we move it from dark to light 🕯️

Sunflowers germinate for three days in darkness, during which time they begin putting out their roots and shedding their hulls. After we move them to our grow rack, they quickly develop over the next 4 to 5 days until they are ready for harvest.

We use a quick growing variety of sunflower with smaller seeds. They germinate faster and shed their hulls more readily, making the job of harvesting way easier. When fully grown, they are sweet and delicious! 🌻🌻🌻

We're changing how we handle orders! Augustus Greens now offers 1-month and 3-month long subscription periods with built-in discounts - subscribe for a longer period of time for a greater discount! You can also choose to receive delivery every week or every other week - whatever works best for you!

Keep an eye on our page - big things to come this summer! We hope to launch new microgreens mixes in the next month, featuring a wider variety of microgreens and flavor profiles.

Welcome to the world ☺️ Octavian joined us early Saturday morning after a long, difficult, and beautiful home birth. I am so in love with our little boy, and amazed at my incredible wife for her labor. Watching her give birth to our son was the most moving experience of my life. I am truly a lucky man.

Octavian weighed 7 lbs 10 oz at birth, and has deep blue, almost black, eyes. He spent his first day alternating between nursing, sleeping, and farting, much like his dad.
