Providence River Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary facility located in the Jewely District of RI's capital city, Providence. Dr. Jane Linden is the owner and head veterinarian who fulfilled a life long dream of owning her own practice when she opened PRAH in 2004 after 5 years in private practice. Raw diets can pose serious health risks to both pets and their owners, including the potential for life-threatening foodborne illnesses. If you choose to feed your pet a raw diet, it’s essential to take proper precautions to ensure the safety of everyone in your household.

❗️There has been a report regarding an indoor only cat in Oregon that died after eating the raw/frozen brand "Northwest Naturals". This food tested positive for Bird Flu also known as H5N1.
❗️Rhode Island is on the list of states where this contaminated food was sold.
❗️Northwest Naturals advised pet owners to throw away 2-pound bags of Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food, marked with best if used by dates of 5/21/26 B10 and 6/23/2026 B1.
❗️Laboratory testing from the US Department of Agriculture and Oregon State University confirmed the cat died after consuming raw frozen pet food that tested positive for H5N1.

Fear Free is something that veterinary professionals can take a course on and become certified in. Even if the course isn't taken, that doesn't me we can't practice Fear Free! At PRAH, we like to try and minimize stress anywhere we can for your pets. That may look a little different for every pet! ✨Some pets require a quieter environment or even sometimes a louder environment to divert their focus elsewhere. ✨Some pets require a mild sedative which is given at home usually the night before and a few hours prior to their visit. ✨Some pets require full sedation! Just because your pet requires a little extra special care with us, doesn't mean that you've done anything wrong. They're not poorly trained, they're not "bad", they're just NERVOUS! Never, ever, feel bad for your pet being nervous. You're the best advocate for your pet. If you feel they require extra extra love from us, let us know, we will explore all of the options to make sure your pet feels the least stressed while visiting us. #fearfree #fearfreevetvisit #veterinary #veterinarymedicine
