Please check your pets rabies vaccination status.
Rabies is the only vaccine that is required by state law.

The rabies tag that your pet gets will not tell you anything other than the year your pet was vaccinated - the certificate is the most important part as it tells us the duration of their most recent vaccine.

Please let us know if you're unable to locate your certificate. If your pet was vaccinated at PRAH we can provide you with a new one.

🎉 Mark your calendars! Sunday, August 17th - Pints for Paws 🍻
We’re teaming up with our friends at Buttonwoods Brewery to raise funds for Pawtucket Animal Shelter — and every beer you drink helps! 🍺💛
👉 $1 from every beer poured goes to the shelter — so sip generously! (If you sip extra generously, make sure you bring a non-sipping driver!)

🎟️ Try your luck in our raffle — all proceeds support the shelter! (Cash only)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Bring your family, your friends, your friend’s family, and your dog’s favorite human.
🐾 Well behaved, LEASHED dogs are welcome to join us but, due to RI law they will need to remain on the patio.

Share share share!!! We hope to see you there!

Whew! Summer showed up like ‘surprise!’ 😳☀️
Here’s how to keep your pets chill when the temps go wild.

Never leave your pets alone in a parked car — even for a minute. Temperatures can rise dangerously fast! If you see an animal in a vehicle that's off or has closed windows, call your local police immediately. Their life could depend on it.

Does your pet’s stress at the vet stress you out too?
We get it—and we’re here to help.

At PRAH, we use fear free techniques to make every visit as calm and positive as possible—for both you and your pet.

Don’t hesitate to advocate for your pet—you know them best.
We know you want what’s best for them, and so do we. If pre-visit medications are what your pet needs to feel safe and calm, that’s absolutely okay.

Using anti-anxiety medications doesn’t mean your pet is “bad.” It means they’re scared, and they’re responding in the only way they know how—whether that’s hiding, shaking, or showing signs of fear-based aggression.

Our goal is to make each visit as stress-free as possible, and sometimes that starts with a little extra support. 💕🐾

May is "National Microchip Awareness Month"!
A microchip costs little—but gives you a lifetime of reassurance. This little chip also gives your pet a voice when they can't find their way back home.

🐾Microchips use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
🐾In order to scan a microchip - you need to have a special scanner. Shelters and Veterinary hospitals will have those on hand if you ever need a chip scanned!
🐾Microchips are NOT tracking devices - there is no GPS component to them.
🐾If your pet is microchipped and you’ve misplaced their number, don’t worry! Just give us a call—we can scan the chip and provide you with the number.
🐾Each year, make sure your contact information linked to your pet’s microchip is up to date—so if they ever go missing, you can be reached quickly.
