This is Alyson Brunelli. I have been acting as the adoption coordinator and administrator of the Adopt a Pet website for Rockin AA Sanctuary in Mena, Arkansas. I just want to announce that I am no longer working in this capacity. Aleta Deroy runs Rockin AA Sanctuary. If you need to reach her, please message me and I can give you her contact info.

If you adopted from me, nothing has changed. You can always reach out to me for advice or assistance. In addition, as we discussed, Aleta stands by her dogs for the lifetime of the dogs and if for some reason you are no longer able to care for your dog, she will take it back.

JOIN ME IN CREATING A LINE

To all my friends doing rescue: we have now become the line between life and death for our pets. If you decide your dog or cat is not a good fit because they shed too much, aren't good on a leash, don't use the litter box properly, please know, there isn't another family waiting to take them in. You are the line.... the last line. The shelters are full. The fosters are full. And every family, couple, person, who can stretch their budget to take in that last unwanted dog, cat, rabbit, Easter chicken, duck, horse, iguana has already done so.

So my friends. You are the line. I know that you are doing your best to take in the dogs from the south who have faced trauma, the kitties who are going to make you work for their affection. I thank you for that. I am going to decide here and now that we are the thin purple line, fighting back. Let's let that line hold and fight back.

I am simply done hearing about this being hopeless. There are so many rescue groups on facebook with people figuring it out. We don't have to be perfect. We just have to hang in there and love our animals. Talk to each other. Talk to our vet's. We can do this.

Our Sweet Sophie was adopted last weekend. Please see the before and after pictures below. The picture on the gray bed was taken at Rockin AA Sanctuary. You can see her tail is moving a mile a minute. The pictures of her with her adoptive mom are from the day she arrived on the transport. And the pictures of Sophie with her hair trimmed sitting on the steps, walking with her new sister, and sitting calmly playing with toys were taken a few days later.

Not every dog settles in this easily. Sophie's adopter was well prepared for her to make the move and transition as easily as possible. Thank you Kim for loving this little girl.

Aleta and her helper, Rusty, rescued these tiny pups today. Not sure of the breed yet. Half hound/half serious cuteness? They need to be spayed/neutered but if you are interested, pm me.

This beautiful dog is in RI for a short time and needs a home. Less than 2 years old. Great dane/greyhound mix, likes to play, gives hugs, will sleep with you, people pleaser, working on House training but will improve with structure and time, loves to be trained, would make great hiking, running partner. Up to date on shots, microchipped, neutered, heartworm negative.

Loves other dogs. Has seen cats and did not react but was not living with them. (I expect he will be curious and with the correct guidance adapt to living with cats, but having dog savvy cats and owners will definitely affect how this goes.)

Here is is. I brought up a great dane/grey hound cross and he is simply too much dog for his would be adopters who had recently taken in a dog and thought a companion would be to her benefit.

But!, he is a great dog and to the right person, couple or family, he could be AN AMAZING DOG!!

He is in RI but if I don't find him a home very soon, I mean within days, he will have to go back to the Rockin AA Sanctuary in AR. He was happy there, and that is not the issue, it is the trip back and forth and the confusion about where he belongs.

I decided to volunteer while holding a shaking, dog who had already pooped on me as soon as they placed him in my arms. I was smitten. I assume you are here for a similar reason. So let's celebrate and show off our pets together.

For everyone who already donated and anyone who donates going forward, for every unit of $25, you can send me a picture of one pet and i will add it to a calender of Rescuers of the Rockin AA Sanctuary.

Towards the end of the year, I will take all of the pictures, and put them together to make calendars. The more pet pictures I have the better. Then I will sell those to do a little bit of fundraising for the Sanctuary in time for christmas.

There are two ways to donate.

Meet Brule. She is a beautiful white German Shepherd. She gets along with other dogs. Loves to play. Leash and crate trained. She is 18 mos old and weighs 35 #. She is up to date on shots and heartworm negative. She is on Nexguard and Interceptor. She will make a wonderful family addition. She is sweet, lovable, cuddly and playful. Having said that, we believe that she is the type of dog who will protect her home against intruders. She does not require training to be a guard dog. Meet Dana, the beautiful 18 months Dane, hound cross. He is playful and sweet, and a bit goofy. He is about 70 lbs and although that is big, Danes are known for being good apartment dogs, provided that they have a place to exercise close by. Owners must be willing to spend time outdoors, hiking, etc. Dana has spent most of his short life in one shelter or another so we don't yet know what his favorite activities are. We do know he would love to tell you himself.

He is neutered, up to date on shots, good with other dogs. Microchipped, on flea and tick meds, and heartworm negative. Send me a message for information on how to adopt this sweet boy. Total adoption fee is 550.

Hi. My name is Alyson. I am the New England adoption coordinator for Rockin AA Sanctuary in Mena, Arkansas. I have more than a decade of experience placing dogs from the south in homes in New England. The reason I work with this rescue specifically is their mission. My friend in Mena goes to the two kill shelters in her county and takes every dog and cat on the list to be euthanized, regardless of age, health, or adoptability.

Her name is Aleta Delroy and I consider her a force of nature. She has been doing this for many years alone and now I am going to try to help with the adoption part since I adopted my dog Dahlia, below, last year. I am calling this program "2nd Chances". These dogs and cats that you will see shouldnt be here and they shouldn't get the chance to live with great families like yours. But they can.

My experience has shown me that sometimes the best adopters are not the ones who have the criteria that many adoption agencies who receive hundreds of applications, use to make their first cut. No person is too old or young. Housing situations vary and may be exactly what a dog needs depending on the dog.

I am looking for FANTASTIC adopters but just like animals, and just like people, we don't fit into the same mold.

You do not have to see a dog or cat to adopt from us. Message me and let me know you are looking to adopt. Aleta has a gift for fitting the personality of the animal to the person.
