This is Alyson Brunelli. I have been acting as the adoption coordinator and administrator of the Adopt a Pet website for Rockin AA Sanctuary in Mena, Arkansas. I just want to announce that I am no longer working in this capacity. Aleta Deroy runs Rockin AA Sanctuary. If you need to reach her, please message me and I can give you her contact info.

If you adopted from me, nothing has changed. You can always reach out to me for advice or assistance. In addition, as we discussed, Aleta stands by her dogs for the lifetime of the dogs and if for some reason you are no longer able to care for your dog, she will take it back.

JOIN ME IN CREATING A LINE

To all my friends doing rescue: we have now become the line between life and death for our pets. If you decide your dog or cat is not a good fit because they shed too much, aren't good on a leash, don't use the litter box properly, please know, there isn't another family waiting to take them in. You are the line.... the last line. The shelters are full. The fosters are full. And every family, couple, person, who can stretch their budget to take in that last unwanted dog, cat, rabbit, Easter chicken, duck, horse, iguana has already done so.

So my friends. You are the line. I know that you are doing your best to take in the dogs from the south who have faced trauma, the kitties who are going to make you work for their affection. I thank you for that. I am going to decide here and now that we are the thin purple line, fighting back. Let's let that line hold and fight back.

I am simply done hearing about this being hopeless. There are so many rescue groups on facebook with people figuring it out. We don't have to be perfect. We just have to hang in there and love our animals. Talk to each other. Talk to our vet's. We can do this.

Our Sweet Sophie was adopted last weekend. Please see the before and after pictures below. The picture on the gray bed was taken at Rockin AA Sanctuary. You can see her tail is moving a mile a minute. The pictures of her with her adoptive mom are from the day she arrived on the transport. And the pictures of Sophie with her hair trimmed sitting on the steps, walking with her new sister, and sitting calmly playing with toys were taken a few days later.

Not every dog settles in this easily. Sophie's adopter was well prepared for her to make the move and transition as easily as possible. Thank you Kim for loving this little girl.

Aleta and her helper, Rusty, rescued these tiny pups today. Not sure of the breed yet. Half hound/half serious cuteness? They need to be spayed/neutered but if you are interested, pm me.

This beautiful dog is in RI for a short time and needs a home. Less than 2 years old. Great dane/greyhound mix, likes to play, gives hugs, will sleep with you, people pleaser, working on House training but will improve with structure and time, loves to be trained, would make great hiking, running partner. Up to date on shots, microchipped, neutered, heartworm negative.

Loves other dogs. Has seen cats and did not react but was not living with them. (I expect he will be curious and with the correct guidance adapt to living with cats, but having dog savvy cats and owners will definitely affect how this goes.)

Here is is. I brought up a great dane/grey hound cross and he is simply too much dog for his would be adopters who had recently taken in a dog and thought a companion would be to her benefit.

But!, he is a great dog and to the right person, couple or family, he could be AN AMAZING DOG!!

He is in RI but if I don't find him a home very soon, I mean within days, he will have to go back to the Rockin AA Sanctuary in AR. He was happy there, and that is not the issue, it is the trip back and forth and the confusion about where he belongs.

On my side, I will learn everything I need to know about you as a potential adopter and for you, I will give you every bit of information I have about Dana.
