Axle has learned what a beach is this week and he is LOVING IT! He was a bit spooked at first but he quickly begun exploring the fun smells and all the fun things you can do at the beach. Axle enjoyed splashing in the water, playing fetch, ripping up seaweed bundles, and especially digging in the sand. Did he consume a bit too much sand and salt water? Yes but did he have a blast? a BIG yes!

Today Beeza is showing one of the MANY ways we use wet food here at the shelter. Wet food for both cats and dogs are one item we use across the board; for enrichment, training, daily feeding, medicating, and so much more. With the high usage of wet food we tend to see moments where we don't have much or any at all, and right now is one of those moments. For both dogs and cats we are running low, we are doing our best to make it last as long as possible.

Please join us in welcoming two new guinea pigs to the PARL family! A loving local family quickly found themselves with 8 guinea pigs at home, several pregnant/new mamas/or babies. (This can often happen if pet parents have a male and female housed together unknowingly!)
Thankfully, they reached out to PARL for help and we welcomed them into our small animal program, dedicated to helping them thrive and finding loving homes. Miss Lovett and her new babes are doing well. She is an excellent mama!
It may be a holiday weekend, but animals in need arrive every day here at PARL. Coco is one of over 20 dogs currently in our care. His matted and dirty coat caught us off guard when he arrived at PARL yesterday. The team went into swift action and got out all the grooming supplies.
A few hours later, Coco was feeling much better and now he’s asking you for help to support the next steps in his journey to adoption. Coco has severe dental disease and will need dental surgery to remove some and possibly all of his teeth. Your donation today is deeply appreciated!

This sweet nursing mama was found near a sewer drain in Providence by our friends at Providence Animal Control. We obviously had to name her April O'Neil and her four kittens Raphaella, Donatella, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. But that's not the end of their story! We were also caring for a single orphaned kitten (the orange one) who was about the same age as these and named him Splinter to help April O'Neil welcome him to the family. It worked! Luna Update
Back in May, we introduced you to Luna, a cat with a long and painful history of recurring ear infections. Her ears were scarred and calloused creating 'cauliflower ears' as a result of the many infections and ruptured hematomas. The ear infections just kept forming, causing severe pain and discomfort.
Thanks to donations from individuals like you, Luna received Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Osteotomy (TECA-BO) surgery on both ears. The TECA-BO procedures were a success and as you can see, Luna has recovered well and will soon be on her way with a loving family.
