Remember Cashew? His new name is Emmett and we believe it fits him like a glove. His mom let him check with with new photos last week. He wanted to let us know that life is good! He is also the best co-pilot around. Way to go, Emmett!

Here he is again.

Chewie needs out. đź’”

This sweet boy took a long walk today and halfway through… he just lost his pep. He laid down beside the car, tongue out, eyes tired, heart heavy. The shelter is starting to break him.

Chewie is hot. He’s tired. And more than anything, he’s sick of being let down by humans who were supposed to love him. He’s doing his best to hold on, but it’s getting harder every day.

He deserves better. He deserves a couch, a yard, a human who sees how special he is — not a kennel, not concrete, not this kind of heartbreak.

Please share Chewie. Foster, adopt, donate, or help network him to someone who can give him the fresh start he’s begging for.

We never thought he’d end up back in a shelter environment, but I didn’t have a choice after his foster bailed on him.

Let’s not fail him again.

Chewie and I took a little field trip this morning—breakfast and a long walk—to escape the heat of the back porch where he’s currently living. He needed a break. The truth is, he’s starting to shut down. You can see it in his eyes. It’s like he’s losing hope that his person is ever going to come.

Chewie’s wishlist is simple: no kids, no cats, a securely fenced yard, and someone who will give him daily walks to burn off his energy.

We need someone to step up. Chewie can’t stay in this shelter forever. We’re so grateful they were able to lend us a kennel for him, but it’s far from ideal. He ended up here because his last foster literally put him out with nowhere else to go.

He needs a new foster—or even better, a forever home—now. He’s neutered, fully vaccinated, and truly one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet.

‼️
Chewie is STUCK in a shelter because his foster kicked him out with no warning. He needs to get out of the situation he is in and into a foster or adopter. Right now, he’s sitting in the heat because there is no place for him to go. :( Please help. He is getting a ton of shares, but no one steps up.

Mama and babies also need a place to go. Someone is keeping them safe for now, but they can’t stay.

PLEASE. We NEED fosters or adopters. These animals are stuck in limbo!

We’re so grateful for every like, share, comment, and donation — truly, we are. Your support matters.

But here’s the hard truth: donations alone can’t solve everything. What we need right now are foster homes.

We can’t help a mama dog and her newborn puppies without a foster. We have nowhere for a sweet 13-year-old senior dog to go — except a cage. And Chewie? His foster dropped him last night. He’s now back in a shelter-like environment, sitting outside on a hot porch because we simply have no place for him.

It breaks our hearts. These dogs have already been failed. In Chewie’s case, more than once.

We urgently need fosters:
• One for the mama dog and her puppies — until they’re weaned and ready for homes, or until they can travel to Iowa.
• A foster or adopter for Chewie — he just needs a cat- and kid-free home. He’d thrive in a quiet space, maybe even with a laid-back guy who likes video games and walks. He’s low maintenance.
• A permanent foster or adopter for sweet Java, our 13-year-old girl. Her family hasn’t come forward, despite our efforts. She deserves to spend her golden years in comfort, not confusion. (UPDATE: foster found ❤)

We provide EVERYTHING: food, beds, toys, collars, leashes — even paper towels. You just bring the love and a safe space.

Please, step up if you can. Foster. Adopt. Help us give these dogs the second chance they deserve.

Chewie’s Story Will Break You — But It Doesn’t Have to End This Way

Chewie has been failed by humans more times than any soul should ever endure.
Two years ago, he sat in a Tulsa shelter, waiting. Waiting for love, waiting for someone to see the good in him. A young couple did. They adopted him. He finally had a chance.

But love didn’t last. The couple separated, and Chewie was forgotten—left to navigate life on his own.

Two years later, he ended up in the exact same shelter. The same concrete walls. The same cold floor. The same hopelessness.

Thanks to his microchip, the shelter contacted his former owner. She refused to come for him. She didn’t care if he was euthanized.

That should’ve been the end of Chewie’s story. But someone begged us to step in. We did. A foster promised to help. They had him less than a week before giving up. No warning.

And now? Chewie is four years old and sitting alone in an outdoor kennel. Not because he did anything wrong—but because people keep treating him like he’s disposable.

He is not a bad dog. He is a heart that’s been broken over and over.
He’s never truly been loved. Never known stability. Never had someone say, “I won’t give up on you.”

Chewie has his quirks—how could he not? He needs a home without kids or cats. They overwhelm him. What he does need is someone patient, someone kind. He’s still young enough to play, to romp around a big fenced yard, and to curl up for a nap on the couch beside you.

We need a foster or adopter right now. Chewie cannot take another heartbreak.

Please don’t let the world give up on him again.
We’re begging—don’t let him be another forgotten soul.

If you can help, even just temporarily, please message us immediately. Chewie deserves a chance to finally feel safe. To finally feel wanted. To finally be home.

Please…Chewie needs a foster or adopter NOW.

UPDATE: Thank you Karen for stepping up for Java and Leah, for stepping up for Penny. We know they will enjoy the break :) It takes a village!
Java was picked up in Rose. She was in pretty bad shape but she is coming right along. She is almost 13 years old, and microchipped. She had terrible flea infestation. Fleas are gone, only the itching and hair loss remain. We have done everything to find her family. We've called, texted, email, etc. They have not responded. We are moving forward with finding her a new family in a few days. Meanwhile, she will need a foster from this Thur. (06/26) To July 4th then her foster will take her back. She is dog friendly, chicken and cat friendly. She spayed, has had her shots, house trained (no accidents at foster home) uses the dog door, she's just a lovely little, 6 pound senior. If you have a little room and a lot of love for a week, please consider fostering Java.
