The Southern Colorado Kennel Club class schedule is starting again in January. There are still a few spots left for those people with a need for Puppy Class and Beginner Obedience. Classes are 6-weeks long and $120. To be eligible, owners must be able to provide evidence of 3 Parvo/Distemper vaccinations and older dogs and puppies (over the age of 6 months) must be able to provide evidence of a current rabies vaccination.

Monday January 6th from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm - Puppy Class for puppies 4-6 months of age.
Tuesday January 7th from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm- Beginner Obedience for all dogs over the age of 6 months.

Hello members. The Holiday season can be challenging for some less fortunate than us. Jewel West, (through her Therapy Dog work at Pueblo local Senior Living Centers) has identified that there are several residents who are in need of clothing items. Since some residents do not have family members or friends to support them with basic needs, they are often seen with torn, worn, and less than warm clothing to wear from day to day.

If you happen to be cleaning out your closets at home or shopping at some of our local secondhand stores, SCKC would like to request your donations of any new, gently used, clean, and in good condition clothing items. A sweater or sweatshirt and/or sweatpants will keep away the chills this winter season and are needed for both men and women.
​
- For the Gals, we would like to see sizes WOMENS XL to 2X (sweatshirts, sweatpants, hoodies, lounge pants with an elastic waist band, socks (grippy socks, gloves, scarves hats, are useful).
- For the Guys, MENS XL-2X (sweatshirts, sweatpants, hoodies, easy pull-on pants, socks (grippy socks, gloves, scarves hats, are useful).

All items that we are able to collect will be donated and dispersed free of charge and can be dropped off at the SCKC Training Center as well as at the home of Jewel West by December 14th.
​
We are so proud of our SCKC members that use their love of dogs to give back to their community in the way of Therapy Dog work and am confident that we can all find additional ways to help these wonderful seniors in need to stay warm this holiday season.

SCKC is so proud of our Junior member Isabella West! She performed like a pro at the Arapahoe Pee-Wee competition this weekend with her side-kick Cheyenne!

Great food to go along with great times together at the SCKC Club Barbecue! Couldn’t be more pleased with Pueblo’s own “Nana’s Barbecue”…it melts in your mouth!

Food, food, and even more food!!! Southern Colorado Kennel Club’s annual summer outing was a hit with over 60 members and guests in attendance! Good conversations and comraderie! An extra special thanks to American Legion Post 2 for the free use of their tables once again. I am so grateful for their support. Nana's BBQ was well received, and enjoyed, by all. Thanks go to Barb V, Austyn Jones, Meredith and Howard Boardman, Rebekah Swearingen, Pam Houston, Barb Curtis, and Nancy and Jim Prioreschi, and the many people who came to me with offers to help. I'm very proud to be associated with such selfless people, always jumping in to help wherever they can. So, so many helped clean up afterwards that I am hard put to name them all.
