Was able to deliver the mount of my 13yo grandson’s first deer to him this afternoon!

Even though I won’t place a major order for deer mounting materials until after the first of the year and since I’m no longer buried taking in deer I’m busy working on preparing skins to go to the tannery and have started tanning capes so they’re ready to mount when I get the materials in for them.

I was finally able to get this “speed goat” (Pronghorn Antelope) done for my Wyoming hunting buddy before things got busy with deer season. Hopefully our next trip to Wyoming will be for Elk.

Hi folks. Having taken in 30 deer my antler rack is full! I’m really sorry but this means I will not be accepting any more deer for shoulder mounts this season.

Southern zone hunters take note: If you are staying at your deer camp for more than a couple days and you happen to harvest a deer you would like to have mounted, keep in mind that I will not accept deer capes beyond 3 days of harvest. I highly suggest that you make a “meat run” to your processor, etc and get that cape taken care of! Bear in mind that the processors will be busy and may not get your deer caped right away.

Proud grandpa here! My 13 yo grandson shot his first deer, a nice 8pt, this afternoon behind my house with his dad sitting next to him! One 80yd shot from his .243 dropped it in its tracks. This was only his third time out hunting!
Oh… and did I say I’m a proud grandpa?!

What a day! After helping my son this morning get his doe home I took in 4 bucks for mounts and 1 for a spare cape. Word on “the street” is that the rut is on!

Hey parents and grandparents: If you’re mentoring a young new hunter this season remember they’re only going to harvest one “first one”! No matter what size it is to them it’s a trophy, so consider having it mounted for them! You do your part and I’ll try to have it ready by Christmas. (Note: this applies only to family of previous clients as I’m not looking to take on new clients)
