And here we are at 7 weeks 🥹

This may be our last week of pictures for the whole crew since next weekend we are meeting up with their new families for drop off!
This crew is more than ready to leave the nest as their new mission has become seek & destroy… everything 😂 although their adorable faces allow them to get away with all of it. We’re gonna miss their antics and puppy talk dearly they are a very entertaining bunch but we’re so excited to send them off on their new adventures (where hopefully a couple of them will have some instagram presence!) and also to officially announce who will be remaining here at Kvell! 🤫

The whole gang has their first vet appointment on Monday so which them luck for their pokies!

We are a little late on 6 week pics since Jonah was at a dog show with the older puppies so we’ll call them 6.5 week! Everyone is looking so grown up!

I think we pulled out most of our hair trying to get pictures this week 😂 five week old Eggs don’t like to listen!

This week we have all but officially solidified our keeper but we are waiting and watching a few things before we are 100% sure she’s staying. I have been shuffling the rest of the pups in my minds eye thinking of the best potential pairings with their new homes! A couple decisions are looking very clear this week 😉 Although all beagle puppies are similar in a sense there are some variances in personality and temperament that may make one puppy more suited to a certain home situation than another such as energy level, dominance/compliance, and whether or not they value human attention.

As they grow each day they tend change in the way they interact with each other and the world a puppy that perhaps started off more subdued can become a real brawler by 6 weeks which is why we don’t tend to make final decisions on placements until the 6-8 week age. Anyway hope you enjoy these pics they made us work for them 😂

Oopsies! Forgot to post the Egg Bites 4 week pics on here 🤭

My my how the time does fly we’re at the half way point already!
These kiddos moved out to their big kid play pen this week, they met the whole pack and have been spending lots of time playing in the living room too. Maybe if it starts warming up we’ll get to have some outdoor play time in the coming weeks!

It’s so fun seeing their little antics this week as they have finally started playing for real. Some of them think they are real tough cookies(Sunny scramble and Omelette)! And are always walking around like arrogance incarnate 😂 and then we got some real whiners who just want to be held and kissed and have no violence in their sweet bodies (souffle easy and Benedict)

We did try stacks today but they were not in the mood so we gave it our best shot lol

3 weeks old and they’re starting to look like trouble!

We got some barkers some growlers some naughty naughty babies and two pee-ers and a pooper during this photo shoot (I’ll let you wonder who those were 😂)

They enjoyed their first mush yesterday and it has already become a staple of their day. They’re starting to get new textures and obstacles in their box and they have all become OBSESSED with their sunflower bed it’s adorable how they all crawl into it.

We’re starting to see some personalities come out as well! Benedict cracks me up and I joke he’s a rag doll cat bc he will let his whole body go limp and hang when you pick him up such a chill dude. Omelette likes to fight whether it’s fighting us during pictures or fighting her siblings for the best spot in the bed she’s a feisty one! Easy and Sunny are very similar they are both big foodies and thanks to that are heavier than their siblings and like to throw that weight around during play time they can usually be found pinning down one of their smaller siblings unless they accidentally rolled over on their fat bellies and can’t get back up 😂Soufflé is a little princess who likes things just so and didn’t want to stand or sit for her pic today princess gets what princess wants! And my sweet baby boy Scramble this kid just makes me laugh! Everytime I took a pic of him today he would sprint toward me and the camera as fast as he could and lick my face I couldn’t even be mad at him he was so excited about whatever game this was.

Anyway stay tuned they only get cuter from here yolks! (Lol pun)

The eggies are 2 weeks!

You may notice that we are one less puppy this week 🥺 Unfortunately little miss Quiche left us this past week. From the beginning she was a fighter, she had the most difficult start to life- requiring assistance and extra diligence to keep growing and healthy (sleepless nights tube feeding, warming, and loving). All the while Quiche remained persistent! She wasn’t going to give up and neither were we.

However entering week 2, for whatever unknown reason her persistent little fight came to an end. With us by her side, Quiche left us. She never passed the 300 gram range (while all her siblings were quickly approaching 600). We still don’t know why she didn’t grow, I suppose we’ll never know. It’s hard not to think about what could have been, her future family, her adventures, her long life journey. To say many tears were shed this past week would be an understatement.

With that said- we still have 6 VERY healthy and FAT eggies 💖 all of which are already eyes wide open (starting at just 11-12 days!!!) and walking and barking all around the whelping box! These kids are advanced and persistent just like their sister. And we can’t wait for the coming weeks to get to know them more.

Made it to 1 week!

Everyone is gaining weight and doing eggscelent including miss Quiche who needed some extra help with tube feeding but she is off the the races now and gaining on her own.

This next week we should see some peepers start to appear and their ears will start to open as well! We will continue ENS through this week and start sound exposure later this week. Stick around to see more of the eggies 🥚🥚🥚

Yesterday we welcomed Birdie’s Eggs into the world! These seven (4 girls 3 boys) are really coming out of their shells as they settle in at home with mama Bird.

We have a little girl who needed some extra help getting going after a rough start but she is getting going now at under 6oz Quiche is our smallest puppy to date! We’re cheering her on with lots of TLC. Everyone else is doing great!
Omelette is also a petite little thing but a very feisty eater! Sunny and Soufflé the other two girls are both chunkamonks who share a love for pigging out go off girls. The boys all land right in the middle next to each other size wise and honestly look pretty similar too!

June has been an exciting month for us at Kvell!
We started off the month down in Colorado to attend the two specialties hosted by the Rocky Mountain Beagle Club. Our kiddos did pretty good for themselves!
Retro went Winner’s Dog at both specialties under breeder judges Barb Scherer and Michelle Sager adding two more majors to his total. He now only needs 4 points to finish!
Birdie went 13” BOV under Michelle and select under Barb! She loved strutting her stuff as usual.
And our Canadian visitor miss Demi was Winner’s under Barb for her second US major!

After a whirlwind of shows we were able to pick up our special hitch hiker. A very exciting red boy Peppe (fka Ricky Roy) needed a ride to his new home in WA and a place to stay for a couple months until his new family was ready for him. So in the meantime he will be hanging out with us and will be at stud while here. We are hopeful to incorporate his lovely pedigree into our program soon!!!

Forgot to post on here!
Ace turned 6 weeks old on Saturday and is looking quite dashing. We made the official announcement that Ace will not be staying here with us but will be going to live in California with Mary and Claire where he will get to experience all kinds of new adventures, be a demo dog for Mary’s dog training business, and participate in sports such as agility and scent work! He’s going to absolutely love it and they are going to be obsessed with him 😂❤️

This decision was not made lightly as Ace is turning out quite beautiful and is a very special guy out of our very special girl Poppy. Ultimately as much as we would love to keep him we had to consider the bigger picture of our breeding program. So here is a little insiders look on that decision process.

1. Even if Poppy is unable to have another litter we still have the ability to practically repeat this pairing since Birdie is 3/4 the same pedigree as Pop and Ace’s dad Catcher is alive and well in Canada!

2. The standards are already higher for boy keepers but Ace was also born into a competition since we brought in young man Retro late last year. Although he is also very nice Ace is phenotypically and genetically very close to all of our current girls so we would not want to use him for several generations.

We’re so excited to watch him continue to learn and grow with his new family but for now we’re gonna soak up every last second of these last few weeks with our goofy little man 💚

3 weeks old!
Little man Ace is starting to explore the world this week. He’s walking and talking all about it! Today he graduated to his big boy play area where he will get introduced to his litter box, new textures, sounds, and fun toys! Although he still spends most of his time sleeping we’re starting to see his personality peek through those rolls. He’s a very chill dude who loves to cuddle and expects to be spoiled!

Another interesting development… it looks like he may lose his blaze (the white streak between the eyes) and be our first plain face beagle as well! How neat 💚
