We wanted to share this video because it explains perfectly how matting occurs and how it can be fixed. Many times clients come in with long haired pets that unfortunately need to be shaved down due to matting. It is as heartbreaking for us as it is for you to have to shave your pet down. However, shaving down a matted pet is necessary as matting can cause many health issues to your pet. Also, brushing out a severely matted pet is very painful to them. Consider the pain you would experience trying to brush your hair out if you haven’t washed or brushed your hair in 4-6+ weeks. It is very similar to your pets, that is why we advise that long haired pets be brushed down to the skin daily or every other day to reduce any chances of matting. DISCLAIMER: Not our video!! At our daycare facility, we ensure that all pups are walked multiple times a day. We take them on this nature walk so their toe beans aren’t burning on the hot asphalt or the hot sidewalk. This allows the pups to take more natural potty breaks and get to sniff some exciting new smells, all of this is essential for doggy enrichment! Plus it allows our daycare staff to get their step in too! Be sure to follow our daycare page for daily daycare pup content! Royal Paw Babcock Daycare
