One spoiled red foot tortoise: 🥰 For most people who live in tropical or subtropical areas, this is the species of tortoise I recommend as pet. They are highly intelligent and enjoys interaction with people. They are also ideal in size (not too big) and very hardy. Truly under appreciated species.
Storm clean up.
We are almost done with the storm clean up. 😊 Thankfully, we didn’t get much rain.
Tropical storm
We have some minor wind damages that will be taken care of this morning. We had only couple of inches of rain so the ground is mainly dry.
Tropical storm
Wind is still strong (tropical storm.) It started around 11 AM and hasn’t stopped yet. We have sustained some minor damages but we will clean up in the morning and be open tomorrow. I can’t imagine how bad it will be for the people who are expecting direct hit from this hurricane. Please stay safe!!!!
Ricord’s Rock Iguana
Cyclura ricordii is listed as an endangered by IUCN and is endemic to the island of Hispaniola. We have been able to produce this species 3 out of last 4 years—-the only institution in the world to do so.

Feeding my Iguana melanoderma: Saba black Iguana.

Collecting endangered species eggs.
Joe and I collecting Iguana delicatissima eggs at almost midnight. No matter how many times I’ve done this, it never gets old—-it’s always so exciting—-no matter the species. In this case, it is a critically endangered species from Lesser Antilles.
Education is key to conservation
Joe is great with sharing our animals with our guests. Due to forecast of rain and wind, we didn’t expect too many visitors today and it was bit of a slow Saturday but these folk drove two hours to see our animals. They were not disappointed!!! We love what we do!!!
