Turtle (Visage Copabella x Utah Van Erpekom) is truly one special dude! Justin started him this fall, putting about 6 rides on him and then he got to go back out in the field through the holidays. Today, I decided to throw the hackamore on him and jump on ba****ck. He did not put a foot wrong and remembered everything from the last time he was ridden. Could not be more excited about the future with this guy and to see his babies arriving in April!!

The amount of rain we've had this year has exceeded the 126 year record. It has been brutal to put it plainly. We are in the middle of a 9 day no-rain streak. Tomorrow will be the last day I can mow. Some pray for rain, we have payed for 4 consecutive days of sun. This is the SECOND time we've got 4 or more days this ENTIRE YEAR!

As horseman, every once in a while we are gifted with a partner that will change the trajectory of our life/career... if we are canny enough to develop them, or allow them, to grow into an elite. One that will rub elbows with any of the best horses that McClain Ward or Boyd Martin would call greats. When these horses fall in our lap for whatever reason, it takes that special bond with that special person to light the fire. These horses aren't always super noticeable at first. If a Ward or Martin got them at first things may not have been like they are. Take secretariat, his trainer hated him. He was small and "wasn't going to have what it takes". It took a groom to believe in him, and we all know the rest of the story. Cleverly was a 6yr old. Unstarted because he was a bad hombre. The trainer wrote him off. It took a broke assistant trainer/groom, that was hungry enough (or stupid... maybe desparate) to be brave enough to walk into the stall that first time. From that moment forward Taryn and Cleverly would show everyone, that didn't believe, they were both special. He needed her as much as she needed him not to kill her. Together, they did some absolutely amazing things. There was several instances that I've heard about that they both should have died. He wasn't about to let that happen. He always left it all out there. He took nothing back to his stall each night. It didn't matter if it was dressage or cross country, he gave it everything he had (in the dressage it was to exit stage left). I've been told they had to battle to make it through dressage. Hope that the times on 2 legs was minimal enough not to get eliminated. All that drama, just to get to jump. Together, there was no better team. The very first time I met this horse, was at the invitational at Devon. Turns out, that's a pretty big deal. Well, he left the trailer on 2 legs. I never liked him from then on. However, I always respected him. We had a mutual understanding. He is the only one of Taryns horses I never rode. I was perfectly ok with that. Through the years, I've watched this spoiled rotten stinkin animal pack 2 different ladies around. Each one knowing that if they could get on him, they would be taken care of. No matter what terrible choices they made as pilots. His response was always the same, "your dumb. Hold on". Somehow, he always pulled it together. More than several times I always wondered how in the world he made it happen. That's why I always respected him. And stoic. Holy hell, that guy was not invincible, but he believed he was. He was a fighter. Even the very last breath he took, he wasn't going to go out without a fight. Rest easy my friend. You were one of a kind. Everyone that knew you will agree.

We have been using their lick tubs for several years now. It has been our experience that the lick tubs are the perfect fit for our program. The best quality is that they dont use a molasses binder and are infused with garlic. If any are familiar with what molasses does to our athletes, you'll appreciate the lack of it! First event back in the north country is in the books. Taryn and her prelim steed Milagro SE (Clair de Lune SE x Alme) showed out. Bringing home the 4th place honors. Out of a field of 18, she was one of 6 clear jumper rounds. Thank you Rose for the ride.

Myka Reeder got to meet her new partner last Saturday. We are super proud to introduce Louie. Revolutionary Ninja will be his official title. It took an agonizing few days to hear what Sir Louie's name was going to be. He's one lucky little fellow. His mother tried to kill him several times. One of our QH mares Hollister lost her baby a couple days prior in a complicated delivery, so Hollister galantly stepped up to be Sir Louise's new mom. Both adopted mom and Sir Louie are plenty happy/healthy. Congratulations Myka Reeder on your fancy little c**t.
