Meet our newest addition (no, not the ceramic chicken laying next to a stick.... we are unsure of the events that took place leading to this.. but we can assure you, no chickens were harmed)... Delilah, or Lil D.
Delilah is a 9w old GSD mix, with giant floppy ears, a tail that never stops, kisses without end and a brain that won't cooperate. Lil D has Cerebellar Hyperplasia, or CH. Basically, a part of her brain is underdeveloped. No, she isn't suffering... but she struggles to maintain her balance.
Is there hope? The next 8 weeks will begin to unravel a lot. A huge thank you to Dr. Berg at Guardian Veterinary Specialists for staying late after a long day to check our little girl out. Is it possible she will improve? Anything is possible. Unfortunately, her skull had completely fused so a brain scan was inconclusive. This happens with large breed dogs.
Best case scenario... she will live a wonderful, amazing life like she is rocking to her own beat.
Worst case scenario, she will be a very large dog that requires a tremendous amount of care.
We are desperate for fosters for the dogs that are not special needs so that we can devote the time necessary to those that are. We are busting at the seams with dogs and cats. Intakes are closed indefinitely.
Because we choose to do rescue right, we are faced with an upcoming thousands of dollars in surgeries, heartworm treatments and medications for our orphans.
If you're interested in fostering or adoption contact Colleen at 914-469-1070 (voice/text)

Prayers always welcome.
Let's Welcome Jules to the Oasis. She is a super sweet, 10m old glorious mutt. She is medium build and has soulful eyes that draw you right in.
Poor Jules was an owner surrender, but it adjusting to life at the Oasis. We were told she is female dog aggressive, so we will wait until she settles a bit more and complete a full evaluation. She gets along with Dudley (the pit mix with dislocated/ fractured hip we pulled from ACC).... but everyone gets along with Dudley.
It seems Jules loves kisses, and even gave me super hugs and jumped into my arms. She is an excellent secret keeper... as I have been spending my evenings telling her so many things. She is crate and house trained. Still learning leash manners but learns quickly.

Murray is a 2 year old mix, found on the streets of Texas and set to die. We couldn't let that happen to this sweet, silly soul who stole us with his handsome stare, and then our hearts with his loyalty and devotion, despite a badly scarred face.
Murray was obviously homeless a long time, his face scarred from countless dog fights, bad weather, no food and no home. Murray quickly bonded to the hand that fed him and a special relationship was born.
Murray is looking for someone REALLY special to call his furever human, so it can't just be anyone off the street, you know. It has to be someone kind and caring, patient, warm and understanding. Someone who can look past his imperfect face, wiggly butt and powerful tail... and see the most beautiful, devoted soul - I have had the honor of being blessed with.
So, if you think you are good enough for Murray - set up a date !

Meet our orphans available for adoption. These super sweet Chihuahua mixes are in search of their forever home, rescued from Harvey in Texas...sweet Clyde looking for a home that will give him exercise and lots of fun stuff to do...
Keela, Bailey and Cooper are cat aggressive and can either be the only pets together (they behave as a very dominant pack) or with proper intro can be with other dogs close to their size or larger.
Bailey and Cooper will require additional training at the expense of the adopter because of their difficult first year of life and their cat aggression leaves me unable to work with them in a home environment as I prefer...
As for Mouse, she is timid, shy and sweet and easily gets along with everyone but is afraid of blankets!

Meet Stella Bella. Although the tongue out is super cute, it is demonstrating her anxiety this morning getting in the car... destination unknown for her. Stella needs environmental work and socialization. She is wonderful in the home but very frightened in public... so she will be coming to work with me and on errands.
At about 2pm in the office she began to settle and slept under my desk at my feet. At the end of the day she happily hopped in the car and was visibly relaxed. She slept as I pet her the whole way home. When our route changed her anxiety surfaced but once the first kiddo was in the car, she relaxed again.
Stella needs to snuggle. She needs patience and lots of socialization which we are working on now... But she's is super happy to be asleep next to me... And home.
Stella Bella is STILL waiting for het furever home, and we have no idea why! This beautiful, super sweet, affectionate 16 month old Boxer mix is spayed up-to-date with all her vaccines and microchipped. She loves everybody... kids, cats, dogs and anyone that will play tug-of-war with her or snuggle in bed with her. Your pick.
UPDATE 8/30 10:42am: Jacob passed, in my arms as we prepared to go to the hospital. No words right now. Just heavy, heavy grief. Donations for his care will be returned.
UPDATE: 8/30 10:30A... awaiting a return call from a mobile vet.
My heart is breaking at this moment. He didn't even lift his head to eat his breakfast this morning, and I fear for the worst. I can't even hospitalize him because they will want thousands up front which we just don't have. Not to mention it isn't easy to find a veterinarian that will fight as hard as we are willing to fight to keep him alive. I just wanted to give everybody an update, I'll be syringe feeding him and doing the best that I can right now until we can figure out our best plan of action. Please continue to keep Jacob in your prayers, it's just not fair...I'm doing everything I can.
Meet Stella Bella. This adorable female boxer mix is 16m old, about 45lbs and loves EVERYONE! If you are looking for a low-key best friend who loves to snuggle, this is your pup. This precious little petunia is house broken, crate trained and sweet as sugar. She will follow you wherever you go, loves car rides and loves kisses and snuggles.
Stella is up to date on all vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Call/Text Carolyn 718-541-8603 for more information or visit www.oliversorphanoasis.org for our adoption application. Stella Bella is a true diamond in the rough... let her show you how she shines!
Playtime!!!
My "Murderer's Row" playing.. pardon the giant dead branch, no idea how it got there or when! So weird.
Congratulations to our resident senior Simba, who after years of waiting patiently has FINALLY found his furever home. Simba was the king of the castle until his human mommy passed away. He worked his way through fosters and landed with us here at the oasis.
Simba will once again reclaim his royal title as king as he goes to live the rest of his life with seniors of his own. Simba's new mom and dad are aware of the risks involved with owning an older dog, but Bob said, "Hey, it's part of having a best friend and I can't take it with me!"
It's been a few years since they've had a dog and they've been feeling lonely. When I saw Simba run over and jump on his new dad, I cried (I think Bob did too!)
Happy Tails Simba! You're finally home again.
Good Afternoon. We are desperately seeking your help in the power of facebook. I am asking you all to share my sweet as chocolate Charlie.
Charlie is a 2 year old, male (neutered) Chocolate Lab/Sher Pei mix. He weighs in at a lean 70lbs and is a tall drink of water. Charlie loves people, kids and other dogs (unless they bully him) but he is NOT a fan of cats, as he does have a bit of a prey drive. (Which is common in some dogs, y'know!)
Charlie is HW-, up to date on all his vaccines. So, why do I need your help? Charlie has had several meet and greets, had committed adopters who backed out on him the last minute. Why? Too much energy. Charlie just doesn't show very well and since he does have cat aggression he has to be kenneled away from the main Oasis as we have several cats and kittens running around. Charlie also has limited outdoor yard time with his pals (and my pack) because the summer heat can be dangerous for extended periods of time, so for his safety we do have to limit play.
Charlie was supposed to go home next week and we were just notified they found a lower-energy dog. It is going to break my heart to have to go home after work today and tell Charlie he is not going home after all. We have been talking about this day since he arrived and he has been working REALLY hard to get ready to be someone's best friend. Although Charlie is very much loved, and well cared for - we need either a foster or an adopter ASAP as Charlie would benefit from a home to really blossom under (with no cats!)
Sure, Charlie gets a bit wild straight out of the crate - but he quickly calms down and just wants to be with his people - which right now is only me - that also doesn't help on his meet and greets because all he wants is to be by my side, and if I leave he looks for me. :( Charlie is a typical young lab that no one will even give a chance, but he needs someone who can help manage his energy (go for walks, hikes and car rides) and then laze out on the
Meet Piper. This 20 week old Great Dane/Black lab mix and will be a very big girl. Currently weighing in at a snuggly 55 pounds. She will surely steal your heart. Piper loves to play with other dogs, loves children and doesn't seem to mind her feline friends. Piper is currently spay, up to date on all vaccinations and is microchipped.
Piper loves to run and play, and she loves to snuggle with her human. She is a very loving little girl who is waiting very patiently for her forever home. Piper just asks if you adopt her, please get a little kitty pool as she likes to sit and playing it on those really hot summer days. She is currently crate trained and very close to being house trained.

Jersey playing with one of his (many) best friends. This super sweet 18 month old Pit Bull Mix is a big lug of love. He loves other dogs, cats and kids. He loves being outdoors and can entertain himself for hours... and he LOVES sticks!!!
Jersey was on the euthanasia list, and no one stepped up because of his breed. Their trash turned into our treasure. Come meet this true diamond in the rough. Easy going and ready to find his furever home.
