Another video on the importance of the release word and proof that it can be used as the ultimate reward to your dog! Every dog values their freedom & Autonomy it’s why most dogs won’t listen, they would rather NOT work unless there is something in it for them. Just like us, dogs NEED motivation. This dog is DEFINITELY motivated to work because she understands that freedom and autonomy is given to her, and she VALUES it.
Side note: that in order to get to this level that you see here. Your dog must know the cues your asking them to do and they must know how to do them in the environment your asking them to do it in. If you’ve NEVER practiced outside. You must first do that before expecting these results. Remember that a well trained dog takes lots of practice, consistently and committment from you!
Committ to your dogs training and you will be able to have this level of communication & skills.
Happy training!
Using your Release word as your Reward System.
Hi everyone!
Just a quick video on how you can use your “Release word” as your reward system instead of treats, a toy, praise ect. This is Netty and she is currently in the learning process still ! However her release word is “break” your release word basically is giving your dog permission to come out of work mode when you put them into a position. Positions such as sit, down, wait, stay, heel & place should all be positions your dog needs to be released from. If your dog does not have a release word and you don’t consistently hold your dog accountable to that release word, then your letting your dog decide when they are done working which can be a problem in itself. This is the little picture, but the big picture is if your consistent your dog will look to you for access and guidance AND as you can see the release word becomes the reward like you see for netty here in this video.
If youd like to see a video on how to TEACH the release word, comment below ! And I’ll post a video on how to start the teaching it properly and consistently.
Thanks for watching! Happy training!

These are my thoughts on what the best methods to use for training your dog are. In a very general sense I believe in a more balanced approach to training our dogs, however listen until the end because I’ll also give my opinion on what methods to use for reactivity and aggression.
Thanks for listening! Happy training and happy holidays !
