Bridlepath Equine Center

Bridlepath Equine Center is a 501(c)3 Therapeutic Horsemanship Program in Southern Lancaster County. We are set to open for services in Fall 2023.

Bridlepath Equine Center is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit Therapeutic Horsemanship Program located in Quarryville, PA on Trailside Farm. Our mission is to pave a pathway of growth and independence for individuals with special needs utilizing therapeutic horsemanship and specialized group programming. Bridlepath Equine Center’s vision is to continuously facilitate a welcoming learning environment

for individuals with special needs utilizing our equine teammates and farm atmosphere in ways that provide physical, emotional, behavioral, and intellectual benefits both on the farm and in the individual’s everyday activities. As we've added more participants to the schedule, we continue to be so grateful for our arena expansion! We're able to have multiple instructors teaching with multiple horses while still feeling like we have the appropriate amount of space to work on horsemanship & riding skills in ways that are beneficial to our amazing participants!
..we may be biased, but we have the best job in the world working with some really neat individuals and animals all thanks to YOU ALL and the support of our community!! 😍🐴

🎊🎉Today marks our 2 year anniversary of Therapeutic Horsemanship Services!! 🎉🎊

We started out with 1 instructor, 3 horses, 33 volunteers & 19 participants. Present day, we have 3 instructors, 5 horses, 47 volunteers & 33 participants. Thank you to the support of YOU ALL in our community, participants, volunteers, board of directors, horses, and staff for making these 2 years full of growth, participant successes, and milestones reached! A special thank you to Lee & Kris Kauffman for partnering with us in all of the many facility updates and for allowing Bridlepath to be a part of your beautiful Trailside Farm! We're so excited to see what the future holds!

Introducing our September Volunteer Spotlight - Nancy!

If you have interest in joining our volunteer team, or learning more about our volunteer program, come to our Part 1 training this Wednesday, September 3rd from 6pm-7:15pm. This training includes a tour of our facility, meet & greet with the horses, and discussion of volunteer roles and expectations. All volunteers must be 14 years of age or older, and must submit background clearances before you may start volunteering.

Now Open to the General Public!

We are expanding the targeted population of the Fall Session of our Unbridled Courage Program to families of adopted/foster care kiddos in the general public (ages 8-18) with or without a clinical diagnosis. Bridlepath is humbled by our volunteer crew of about 40 individuals! As a way to say 'thank you' to our volunteers, and to maintain as high quality services as possible in our therapeutic horsemanship sessions from a team approach, we offer monthly continuing education opportunities to our volunteers. August's topic was Emergency Dismounts! While we do what we can to maintain safety in our sessions, we have to remember that we are working with live animals, as well as a population of participants where a medical emergency or the unexpected could occur. Practicing for an emergency dismount in a variety of scenarios allows our team to feel better prepared should a situation ever arise. Thank you to our dedicated team of volunteers for your willingness and desire to continue furthering your education in this industry!

Today wrapped up the final session of our Hoofbeat Haven group in partnership with Penn State's Four Diamonds program. These incredible participants worked hard during this 6 week session to develop a drill team routine (synchronized pattern on horseback) to perform for their families. They also learned various horsemanship tasks during their time here. We of course had to end with a fun ice cream party with their families to celebrate goals met, new friendships, and memories made!

👏👏We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Lee Kauffman for heading up our outdoor arena expansion project, and another huge THANK YOU to Meyer Arenas and Construction, LLC for the incredible work! We are so excited to be able to use this expansion to continue growing our program and meeting the needs of our lengthy waitlist. The expansion will allow us to hold more therapeutic horsemanship sessions without overcrowding our arena, thus allowing us to maintain as high quality services as possible! 😍

Today wrapped up our last summer camp for the 2025 season! Weather was perfect, participants had a blast learning about various horsemanship and riding skills, and many memories & new friendships were made. Thank you to our incredible volunteer crew and program horses for helping to make these camps run smoothly!

We are excited to welcome Hannah King Music , who is a singer, songwriter, and national fiddle champion, to Bridlepath Equine Center on Friday, October 24th at 5:30pm! The evening will hold a catered event with a very talented musician in benefit of Bridlepath Equine Center's Therapeutic Horsemanship Program. Tickets are $50 per person, and space is limited!
