Hello from the girls at the farm. This late winter ?/ early spring weather we have been having is pretty nice. And the girls are getting happier by the day in anticipation for some green grass to munch. Stop by and pick up a gallon of milk and enjoy all the health benefits of wholesome raw milk.

We have 4 hogs that are available immediately. Noah had raised them this fall for the local fair. They never made weight so he kept them. They have been fed lots of farm fresh milk and extras from the garden as well as free ranging on the pasture. But the time has come for them to go. They will make excellent pork for your freezer.
Please call for prices & details. Don't miss this opportunity to get one. Noah's cell # is 717 - 925-7058

Wentworth Farm Nampa Skye
3/25/97 - 10/1/16
RIP
Its taken me this long to be able to even write this,

We have laid to rest one of our old 'girls' here on the farm. She has been a special part of the daily scene here now for almost 20 years , and a very special girl to Hannah.
Hannah and Skye traveled to many shows together , from county fairs to national shows. Skye loved to be shown and was a natural at it. She won her share of champion ribbons and trophies. She was Hannah's showmanship cow at lots of shows and together they were a team.
She arrived when Hannah was just starting her show career and immediately they were friends. They grew up together you could say. Skye saw her grow up and graduated High school , she was even in her senior pictures with her. Then she waited patiently while Hannah went off to Penn State ( after a year as an FFA state officer) and saw her graduate. Had to be in those pictures as well.
She gave us several daughters that have been in the herd over the years. All the time she was here at the farm she was such a joy ,day in day out hanging with the rest of the girls. Stopping on her way out to the pasture after milking for you to scratch her head and give her some love. Always waiting for Hannah to come home and visit. She had been officially retired for a few years from milking now , just enjoying retirement.

We will all miss you Skye. Rest easy girl

Hello Spring ! Officially its Spring but the temps haven't caught up to that yet. One of these days soon it will. The "girls " are anxious and have been for several weeks. We have some Spring babies that have arrived. Try and get some pictures on soon. They are so cute. Don't forget to stop in at the "Red Shed" and get some fresh raw milk, cheese or other goodies. We have some wonderful Hams from our hogs we raised last year. They would be great for your Easter Dinner!.

Has everyone had enough winter yet? The "girls" have and are looking forward to Spring & green grass! Its funny, this time of year you can almost sense the cows are getting anxious. When you walk in the barn they all look at you as if they are asking "is it time yet? We do let them out for exercise on good days and they run & jump around. Kicking up their heels and having a ball. I never get tired of watching that year after year.
Well, we are on the home stretch now. No matter what all the naysayers & weather people try and tell us. The days are getting longer and the sun is definitely stronger. Wont be long and ahhhhh... Spring! Love it. Meanwhile, the 'girls " are still working hard everyday & giving us that great tasting pure fresh milk. They have been eating ALOT of hay while they wait for green grass. So stop in and get some for the family to enjoy. We also usually have brown eggs available, as well as our cheese ( cheddar & smoked cheddar) YUM, really good in macaroni & cheese!. There is also a selection of pork ( sausage , ham, bacon, pork chops etc. & a variety of beef cuts too )
See you soon.

Happy 2015 to everyone!

It is a sad start to the New Year here on the farm. Yesterday afternoon late- someone stopped here for a gallon of milk. That was good, but as they were driving away they ran over one of our dogs. They never stopped or came to tell us. That is very upsetting to us. There is no way in the world you could ever run over a dog and not know it happened. Especially since he was howling loudly enough to be heard all the way in the house! I don't know if the person in the blue pickup truck will see this or not but if they do just letting them know I have a vet bill here waiting. I had to rush Ringo to the Vet , bleeding and in shock . After examination it was decided due to a crushed chest it was best to put him down. I know our dogs are always around the yard and they do love saying hello to everyone, but please, please be careful and remember they are our pets. How anyone can run over a dog and continue to drive away is unimaginable to me.

Happy Fall everyone! Halloween next week and Thanksgiving just around the corner. Lots of family feasts ahead, don't forget the cold fresh milk to go with dinner. Why not try some of our wonderful Smoked cheddar cheese also. We also will have some pork available in the freezer next week. We just had a couple of our hogs we raised processed. Enjoy the beautiful weather.

It's fair time ! Oliver & Noah will be at the Solanco ( that's southern Lancaster Co) Fair next week Wednesday thru Friday. Stop by and say Hi , Oliver will have some of his fav Jerseys there. He'd be happy to introduce them. Noah will have 2 pigs for the FFA show & sale. Hoping for this great weather to continue. We will also have an Ayrshire cow up to the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg next week. Hope to get some pictures from all the fun to share with everyone soon.

August already!! Where has the summer gone. The ''girls" have been enjoying the cooler nights out in the pasture. This weather has been pasture I mean picture perfect. Now if we could only figure out a way to can it , you know like the stuff from garden. Then pull it out when we need it later. Ahhh....... I can dream anyway.
Thought we should let everyone know there have been some changes happening here on the farm. We have decided to do some downsizing and Rob is starting a new full time off the farm job in Sept. We have found some new homes for some of the "girls" , but are still going to keep some here for that cold fresh milk. Our hours will be changing though in order to run everything we will now be closed on Sundays AND on Tuesdays. Officially that will begin Sept 1. If you are needing to come by on Tuesday don't panic , chances are good we will have milk -- just may not always have it that's all.
Also just a heads up, we are raising several hogs for the freezer this fall. We will have some pork again very soon. There is also a couple steers that are planned for beef. If you are interested in a 1/4 or 1/2, just ask when you are by or leave a note with your phone # for details. We will be getting a new batch of our cheese this week, which has been aging all summer. There will be samples in the fridge of both Cheddar & smoked cheddar. If you would like a taste before getting some. But its delicious- just to warn you :)

Wow, it hard to believe its the middle of July already! Whew and its been hot and sticky too. Better cool down and pour a tall ice cold glass of milk. Stop in and pick up a gallon see what you are missing. The "girls" have been working through all the heat to make sure we can keep the refrigerator in the red shed full for you.
Don't forget to say hi , if you happen to see them out in the pasture along the lane. They love the attention :)

There's been some different activities going on here on the farm lately. All the usual stuff like milking chores and making hay , planting and mowing, animal feeding and cleaning. But in addition to that our farm is being used in scenes for a movie that's being filmed here in Lancaster Co. It's been really crazy busy and crazy exciting around here. Ethan, Oliver & Noah are all extras in the movie and love doing that. There has been filming done in the yard and in the house. We have enjoyed being part of it all. Maybe you have seen the trucks and activity when you've stopped by for milk? They'll be here several more days through the month yet do if you missed them you could still catch it. Our heifers and chickens have been used in scenes but the working "girls" have been to busy to get in on it - at least so far.
