This weekend we will will be at Greenhouse Gardens on Saturday from 9-noon. We will have a variety of cut up chicken.

Sunday we will not be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market due to family obligations. We do plan on being back the following week!

A note about eggs: The chickens and ducks both are pretty much finished laying eggs for the season.

This Sunday will be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 9-1pm with fresh, humanely-raised chicken! We’ll have whole and cut up chicken available.

Unfortunately this is the time of year when our laying hens nearly halt egg production. I anticipate we will have very few chicken eggs available, if any at all. We should have a select number of duck eggs.

Side note: Greenhouse Gardens is opening this Saturday 10/14! We will not be there this weekend but we plan to soon.

Another day of humane harvesting of meat chickens in the books. Got ten more processed today.

The meat is resting in the fridge before it gets vacuum sealed and frozen. Allowing the meat to rest before freezing is key for tender, flavorful meat.
•

Well we finally finished up the turkey pens! I’ll tell you what, these guys sure are curious. It seems their way of ‘helping’ is to peck at anything new 😆

We’ve got some homemade bunk-style feeders that are working out well so far. Probably the biggest lifesaver is the gravity-feed watering system. IBC tote + poultry drinker cups = constant supply of fresh water that is low maintenance!
•
Ten out of ten recommend for anyone keeping poultry!
•
Side note: the midget white, giant white and artisan black turkeys from McMurray Hatchery are growing fast!

When the turkeys get a mind of their own… and a human forgets to clip a pen door shut (guilty 🙋‍♀️). This was the fun I came home to recently after being at my full time job all day. If you listen close, you can hear me talking. But mostly you can just hear the turkeys because they were so happy to see me 😂 and Optimus the goose was just watching the chaos.

Picked up our first (of many) orders of McMurray Hatchery broilers from the post office yesterday. They are doing great so far. And yes, of course, we always opt for the ‘mystery chick’. We know full well that we’ll be getting a rooster, but it’s so fun to receive different breeds! Can’t wait to see what this little guy looks like when he grows up. Cochin? Brahma? Any guesses? Time will tell ❤️
