This Sunday we will be back at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 9-1pm. We will have whole and cut up chicken. Make sure to arrive early!

We will not be at Greenhouse Gardens this weekend.

We have begun harvesting Thanksgiving turkeys. If there are any extra birds available we’ll let you know!

This weekend we will will be at Greenhouse Gardens on Saturday from 9-noon. We will have a variety of cut up chicken.

Sunday we will not be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market due to family obligations. We do plan on being back the following week!

A note about eggs: The chickens and ducks both are pretty much finished laying eggs for the season.

Breakfast of champions!
Got a long day of processing chickens ahead of me. I decided to start it off right with a homemade breakfast sandwich:
-One of our own duck eggs cooked over medium
-The biggest English muffin from Copper State Bread
-Radish micro greens from Greenhouse Gardens
-Topped off with a drizzle of Chile Dark Balsamic from Dorota Botanicals

Wow are we excited for this weekend!
Saturday we will be at Greenhouse Gardens from 9-noon with fresh chicken! This market is absolutely fabulous and deserves your support ❤️
Sunday we will be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 9-1pm with fresh chicken.

Chicken eggs are unavailable for the season. This is normal for this time of year.

Duck eggs will be available in very limited quantities. I expect they will be unavailable before the end of the month.

*Farmers Market Update*
This Sunday will be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 9-1pm with fresh, humanely-raised chicken! We’ll have whole and cut up chicken available.
•
Unfortunately this is the time of year when our laying hens nearly halt egg production. I anticipate we will have very few chicken eggs available, if any at all. We should have a select number of duck eggs.
•
Side note: Greenhouse Gardens is opening this Saturday 10/14! We will not be there this weekend but we plan to soon.

Another day of humane harvesting of meat chickens in the books. Got ten more processed today.
•
The meat is resting in the fridge before it gets vacuum sealed and frozen. Allowing the meat to rest before freezing is key for tender, flavorful meat.
•
Keep an eye out for fresh chicken at the upcoming markets!

This Sunday 10/1 we will not be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market. For those who are going to go, please note the hours will be 9am-1pm instead of 8-11am.

Our hens are laying eggs, although they are really starting to slow down for the season. Also, we will have fresh chicken available in October! We will also have a limited amount of turkey available.

Surprise! We got a new order of Jumbo Cornish X chicks from McMurray Hatchery yesterday! These little guys are adorable, but they grow up so fast! They’ll be ready for processing in about 7-8 weeks 🤯

Well we finally finished up the turkey pens! I’ll tell you what, these guys sure are curious. It seems their way of ‘helping’ is to peck at anything new 😆
•
We’ve got some homemade bunk-style feeders that are working out well so far. Probably the biggest lifesaver is the gravity-feed watering system. IBC tote + poultry drinker cups = constant supply of fresh water that is low maintenance!
•
Ten out of ten recommend for anyone keeping poultry!
•
Side note: the midget white, giant white and artisan black turkeys from McMurray Hatchery are growing fast!

When the turkeys get a mind of their own… and a human forgets to clip a pen door shut (guilty 🙋‍♀️). This was the fun I came home to recently after being at my full time job all day. If you listen close, you can hear me talking. But mostly you can just hear the turkeys because they were so happy to see me 😂 and Optimus the goose was just watching the chaos.

We will not be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market this Sunday, we will return August 27. Our young laying hens are getting bigger and should start producing blue and green eggs this fall. We are excited to see what color variations we get!

Picked up our first (of many) orders of McMurray Hatchery broilers from the post office yesterday. They are doing great so far. And yes, of course, we always opt for the ‘mystery chick’. We know full well that we’ll be getting a rooster, but it’s so fun to receive different breeds! Can’t wait to see what this little guy looks like when he grows up. Cochin? Brahma? Any guesses? Time will tell ❤️

Today marked the arrival of the third and final shipment of Thanksgiving turkey poults from McMurray Hatchery!! Our baby birds always arrive safe in a timely fashion and are strong and healthy!

I know it’s a day late… we will not be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market this weekend. We’re setting up twice a month just because it’s so stinking hot! The chickens are working on staying cool and we are doing everything to help them.

We will return August 13 with more chicken eggs and duck eggs!

In the meantime, our Thanksgiving turkeys from McMurray Hatchery are arriving and growing great! Our fall meat chicks will start arriving soon too!

This Sunday we will be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 8-11am. We will have chicken eggs and duck eggs. Also chicken organ meats (heart and liver) plus soup bones!
Making your own bone broth is super easy and it’s not just for soup!
Bones+water+seasonings cooked on the stove or in a crockpot = delicious bone broth!!

This Sunday 7/9 we will be at Ahwatukee Farmers Market from 8-11. We got the last of our meat chickens processed.

We will have whole chicken, cut up chicken, organ meats and soup bones! Soup bones are perfect for making broth and anyone can do it!
•
This will be final market for fresh chicken. The meat chicks don’t do well in the heat so we choose not to raise them during the summer.
•
We will also have chicken eggs and duck eggs. As always come early for best selection!
•
Greenhouse Gardens is closed for the season. They are slated to reopen in October.

Perfect snack after the final Greenhouse Gardens farmers market today. Sweet peppers with homemade hummus and a refreshing glass of cucumber-lime water. We had a great first season with them and look forward to coming back in the fall!
