HTDR Adoption Spotlight- Pebbles!
Pebbles is a 4 year old, long-haired, full Doxie. She came to HTDR as an owner surrender. Pebbles is good with dogs, good with older kids, but cats are unknown. She’s house trained, on a schedule, kennel trained but not a fan, leash trained, and doggie door trained. Pebbles is very shy and timid, and will need a patient home for her to learn to trust. Once she’s comfortable she’s a very sweet, little shadow dog. She can get jealous when other dogs get attention, and will nudge her nose in for attention. She doesn’t have interest in toys, but can be playful at times with another dog. Pebbles is afraid of men, fearful, but not aggressive. She’s scared of loud noises, and not a big barker.
Pebbles will do best in a quiet, and patient home with another confident dog that is more independent and doesn’t mind sharing the attention.
If you are interested in adopting Pebbles, please download, complete and email us an application.

HTDR Adoption Spotlight- Scooter!
Scooter is a 4.5 year old, smooth coat, black and tan Doxie. He came to HTDR as an owner surrender. He is good with small dogs with proper intro, and timid with big dogs. He is not good with kids or cats. He is house trained on a schedule, and leash trained. He does not like the kennel but will sleep in an x pen at night; his preference is to sleep with his person.
Scooter is timid at first, we don’t believe he was socialized much. Once he’s comfortable, he is a very sweet, lovable, and cuddly, little lap dog. He may resource guard his person, but it’s manageable with the right intervention. He loves to play fetch, and loves to go for walks. He is on a weight loss journey and he takes apoquel daily for his allergies. His new family will need to continue to support his weight loss and allergy medication.
The best home for Scooter is with someone home more often than not. With someone who likes to take walks and looking for a companion dog.
From Scooter’s foster, “Scooter is a fun & snuggly little guy. He loves to play fetch with his tennis balls and loves to go for walks. He doesn’t pull or bark at others while walking on leash. He has always been an only dog (king of his castle) but has shown positive to neutral interaction with small dogs. Big dogs make him a little skiddish. He is very vocal when protecting his castle and people but very well behaved when out and about. He’s lost over 4 lbs and enjoys cucumbers, blueberries, beans and carrots as his treats now. Observations lead us to think he would thrive in a lower social activity home with adults who enjoy a daily walk and lots of snuggle time.”
If you are interested in adopting Scooter, please download, complete and email us an application.

Will you be our Valentine? 💝💝
As many of you know, vet costs are increasing. Even with our amazing vet partners, our costs have tripled over the last 5 years.
HTDR prides itself on providing all our rescues with basic vet services. We do this because placing happy, healthy dachshunds into loving homes is our mission. These services include spay/neuter, basic dental, vaccinations, heart worm testing/treatmemt, microchip and 2 deworming treatments. Sometimes, our dogs require more care- advanced surgeries or dentals, special food, maintenance meds or behavioral training, and we do that too!
At a minimum, the cost to provide basic vet care comes in around $700 per dog. Our adoption fees often only cover a portion of this. If a senior dog or a dog with more advanced health issues crosses our path, we are now being forced to make difficult decisions about whether or not we can bring them into rescue.
We’re leaning on you, our amazing followers, to help us continue to rescue and provide these essential services to our dogs.
If you would like to donate to support Jake, Piper and future HTDR rescues, please click the donate button.

APPLICATIONS CLOSED
HTDR Coming Soon- Wilma and Phoebe!
Wilma is a 5-6 year old, short-haired, black and tan full Doxie. She’s good with big or small dogs, good with older kids, but cats are unknown. House training is a work in progress. She’s doggie door trained, leash trained and kennel trained. She’s timid at first and barky with new people. Once she’s warmed up, she’s very sweet, loving, a total lap and shadow dog. She loves to play with toys, and she’s playful with other dogs. She’s on a weight loss journey and will need a family to help get her to a healthy weight. She’s very vocal, so a home with no shared walls is needed. Her best home is with someone home more often than not.
Phoebe is a 7 year old, short-haired piebald, full Doxie. She’s good with dogs, but kids and cats are unknown. She’s house trained on a schedule, leash trained, and kennel trained. She’s timid at first, but once comfortable, she’s sweet, loving, and seeks attention. She can be a bit clingy, and a shadow dog who just wants to be with her person. She’s a former breeder dog that needs to build confidence. She should be feed separately, not because of food aggression but she lacks boundaries. Phoebe’s best home is with someone home more often than not, with or without another dog, with someone who is looking for a great companion dog to spend their days with.
Wilma and Phoebe are NOT a bonded pair and can be adopted separately. They are coming soon, so we ARE accepting applications, but they will not be ready for adoption until their vetting is complete.
Wilma and Phoebe will be at the PACC911 and Toyota of Surprise Adoptathon on Saturday, 2/8, 10-3 pm.

APPLICATIONS CLOSED
HTDR Adoption Spotlight- Westley!
Westley is a 1 year old, short-haired full Doxie. He came to HTDR from the county shelter. Westley is good with dogs and kids, but cats are unknown. He is house trained on a schedule, leash trained, but does not like the kennel. Westley is a happy, friendly, and sweet boy. He seeks attention and loves to be on the couch and sleep with his person.
Westley has typical high puppy energy. He likes to play with other dogs and loves to play with toys. He can be a little toy aggressive and will need someone to work with him on that.
The best home for Westley is with someone home more often than not, with an active family and another playful dog.
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Westley, please go to our website, complete an application and email it to us.
Westley will be at the PACC911 and Toyota of Surprise Adoptathon on Saturday, 2/8, 10-3 pm.
