‼️⚠️SENSITIVE CONTENT WARNING⚠️‼️

Meet Jade, our January Pet of the Month! This brave Shepsky mix, who belongs to our very own Dr. Mel, had quite a journey to start the year. It began last Tuesday when Jade developed sudden ocular swelling and irritation, prompting a late-night trip to . Thankfully, their team was quick to treat her and provide relief.

The next day, however, Jade began exhibiting alarming symptoms, including restlessness, diarrhea, panting, hypersalivation, and loss of appetite. Dr. Mel brought her to our clinic for further evaluation, where an ultrasound and x-rays revealed a rock lodged in her abdomen. Unfortunately, Jade’s condition worsened overnight, with neurological symptoms emerging and her past liver problems flaring up, making her situation even more complex.

Thanks to the incredible communication and collaboration from the GQ Emergency Vet staff, Jade received the stabilization she needed before returning to us for ongoing monitoring and care. With their teamwork and the help of Internal Medicine specialists, Jade is now on a carefully managed path toward recovery.

We’re so proud of Jade’s resilience and grateful for the exceptional care she’s received from everyone involved. Let’s give a big round of applause to Jade and all the teams who worked tirelessly for her well-being!❤️👏🏼

What a year 2024 has been! We’re reflecting on all the moments that made this year unforgettable:
🏆Triumphing at the Annual Hippo Vet Group Kickball game.
🤗 Bonding with our team during adventures like kayaking the Salt River, cheering at Medieval Times, and riding through nature on horseback.
✨ Sharing laughter and creativity during Smile Days!

But beyond the fun and celebrations, this year has been about the heart of what we do—caring for the incredible pets who bring joy and love into your lives. From wagging tails and happy purrs to moments of trust and healing, every patient reminded us why we pour so much care, compassion, and dedication into our work.❤️🐾

2024 was also a year of growth, not just as a clinic but as a family. We’ve stood by one another through challenges, celebrated victories, and deepened the bond that drives us forward every day. Together, we’ve worked harder than ever to ensure your pets receive the love and care they deserve.🥰

As we look back with gratitude, we also look forward with excitement. Thank you for trusting us with your beloved companions and for being part of our journey. Here’s to the memories of 2024 and to all the new adventures waiting for us in 2025!🎉🥂

Meet Faith, our star for today’s Tech Takeover! 🌟 Faith has been with Queen Creek Vet Clinic for 7 months, and in that short time, she’s become an invaluable member of our team. She says QCVC feels like home, and we couldn’t agree more—we’re so lucky to have her!❤️

Faith chose to work in veterinary medicine because she’s passionate about helping animals. She believes that animals don’t have a voice, so it’s up to us to advocate for them, ensuring they get the care they need. “It’s always fulfilling to see an animal recover from a sickness or injury and know you were part of their journey,” Faith shares.🩺🐾

Outside the clinic, Faith is just as energetic and driven. She loves going to the gym, traveling with her two daughters, and spending time outdoors. Whether she’s working on a case or exploring the world with her family, Faith puts her whole heart into everything she does.🥰

Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at Faith’s day at QCVC as she shares her passion for animals and her role in helping them heal. 🐶🐱💙

✨❄️ Flashback to Winter Wonderland Magic ❄️✨

As we look ahead to the new year, we’re reminiscing about the cozy, cheerful moments from our Smile Day before the holidays.🥰

Thanks to Dr. Mel, our team got to experience an unforgettable day filled with snow cones, hot cocoa, a snowball fight, and building snowmen. Arizona snow days are rare, but we made it happen! ☃️🌨️

The icing on the cake? Our annual Secret Santa exchange, which filled the clinic with even more holiday joy. Here’s to carrying this spirit into the new year ahead!🎉✨

The holidays are a time for joy, but they can also bring hidden dangers for pets. Here’s how to keep your furry family safe this season:🤩

🎄Decorations: Keep fragile ornaments, tinsel, and string lights out of paw’s reach to avoid choking or injuries. Secure your tree to prevent tipping.

🥀Toxic Plants: Poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly can cause upset stomachs or worse if ingested. Opt for pet-safe alternatives or keep them out of reach.

🍫Food Hazards:
• Chocolate, xylitol, grapes, raisins, and alcohol are toxic.
• Fatty foods like turkey skin and bones can lead to serious issues like pancreatitis.
• Stick to pet-safe treats instead!

🎉Noise & Guests: Loud celebrations or unfamiliar guests can stress your pets. Create a quiet retreat with their favorite bed, toys, and water.

🔥Fire & Cords: Use flameless candles to avoid burns or fires, and cover cords to prevent chewing accidents.

🚮Trash Security: Keep trash cans closed to prevent curious pets from ingesting harmful scraps or sharp objects.

🎁Wrapping Materials: Ribbons, bows, and small parts can be choking hazards. Clean up promptly after unwrapping gifts.

Meet Dr. Krista Miller!🤩

Dr. Miller has been part of our team on and off for the past 3 months as part of our 5th-year rotating doctor program. She’s passionate about urgent care and emergency medicine, thriving in high-pressure situations where her skills can make an immediate impact on a pet’s life.

One of the most common issues Dr. Miller tackles is ear infections. Many pet parents believe ear infections are caused primarily by moisture buildup, but Dr. Miller often finds that they’re secondary to underlying allergies—a problem she frequently addresses in her patients. Identifying and managing allergies is key to improving pets’ overall health and preventing recurring issues like ear infections.🦠

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Miller’s life is just as full and exciting. She’s the proud pet parent to three dogs and a tripod cat (but doesn’t let that slow them down!). In her free time, you can find her kayaking on the water, embracing the Arizona sunshine, or enjoying the rhythm of live music events.🎤🎶

We are so grateful to have Dr. Miller as a part of our QCVC family!❤️🐾

Thanksgiving is all about family, food, and fun—but let’s make sure the holiday is safe for our furry friends too! 🐾🦃

Take a moment to learn which Thanksgiving foods are safe vs. unsafe for pets and for local emergency vet contacts, just in case!🍗🩺

Plus, remember these holiday hazards:
🗑 Secure the trash—turkey bones, food scraps, and foil can be dangerous if eaten.
🚪 Keep an eye on open doors to prevent pets from slipping out with the holiday hustle.
🎵 Provide a quiet, cozy space where pets can escape the noise.
🕯 Be cautious of candles, small decorations, and toxic plants.

💛 From all of us at Queen Creek Vet Clinic, we wish you and your pets a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Questions? Call us at (480)987-8000. 🐾
