We deal with domestic animals. Please call the shelter at 530-283-3673 to make an appointment. Animal Control Officers can be called out to the field for animal emergencies, so the office is subject to temporary closures with little notice. ts are handled by an off-site volunteer who may not have the most current information. While messages will be responded to, inquiries of interest in adopting a specific animal should be called in to the shelter, not sent to social media. Adoption fees are $10 for cats and dogs. Unaltered puppies and kittens require a refundable spay/neuter deposit. Dog licensing fees for Plumas County are $15 per year. The City of Portola handles their own licensing.
