My heart is so full…I am so grateful… I don’t even have the words to express how grateful I am… We really have the most amazing clients.

It is so easy to forget to be thankful for the simple every day things- especially with the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Time goes by so darn fast and when time slows down just a little bit, I remember just how blessed I am.

It is truly a privilege to care for your fur babies—to be trusted with your precious cargo, and then to be greeted with tail wags, hugs and kisses every single day 🥰And on top of all that- it’s equally as special to know that we are appreciated and that our love and care does not go unnoticed. The thoughtfulness, kindness and love we receive over the holidays makes us feel like we are doing something right and it means so much to us🥰 so a big THANK YOU to our wonderful clients for making us feel appreciated and for trusting us with your furbabies!

DON’T FORCE ME TO BE SOCIAL!
It may be really disappointing and frustrating when our dogs are not the social beings we expected them to be.

Many believe dogs should just naturally get along with other dogs, after all they’re the same species.

Some believe the “unsociable” dog has a behaviour problem that needs to be “fixed”.

Early, appropriately timed and correct socialisation is vitally important, but sometimes despite all of this, some dogs are just not that sociable.

Sometimes this can be improved, especially if the cause is from a negative experience, but genetics, breed tendencies, individual personalities, health and age all contribute to tolerance and sociability, which also change throughout life.

If we, as a human species, don’t get along with everyone we meet, how can we expect our dogs to?

Do we label every person that has an argument, doesn’t make friends with everyone they meet, doesn’t like every other person, prefers not to socialise - as having a problem that needs to be fixed?

Why is it so easy to accept that every individual person is different than to accept that every individual dog is different?

When we have done what we can to improve our dogs’ social skills, we need to accept and acknowledge our dogs for the individuals they are, allow and respect their choice of whether to be sociable or not and never force interactions that a dog is not comfortable with.

I just wanted to touch on something that’s been on my mind…

I know that this year, for the first time in like 10 years, I have decided to not work on Christmas and New years, but if you need visits PLEASE still reach out to us!

While we may not be able to do the visits you need, we CAN help! We can provide a list of reliable, trustworthy and experienced back up sitters. We would NEVER want your pet to be stuck in a kennel who could leave them alone from 6pm to 8am or a neighborhood teen who may forget to go over or forget to give them meds. Or even worse- what if there was an emergency- are you confident a teenager could handle that?

I started this company 17+ years ago because I wanted to offer an alternative to kenneling and mediocre pet care. I have a list ready to go of excellent pet care professionals and am happy to provide them! We really just want the best for your furbabies!

Please do not hesitate to send us a private message (or current clients please message in the app) if you need a recommendations for new years!

I's EASY to end up overstimulated and overtired with all the disruption of routines in the next few weeks. Planning in naps/crate rest/downtime is a good idea so that everyone can enjoy the holidays!

With the holidays upon us many are taking vacations and leaving our loved ones with pet sitters, friends or family members. Dogs in unfamiliar places or situations should be considered Flight Risks.

Have you checked to see what your sitter is doing to ensure your dog will be safe?

- Are they following your wishes to not take your dog off leash while walking?
- Do you have your dog on a martingale collar?
- Is any fencing secure?
- Have you asked them to leash or crate your dog before opening doors?
-Is your dog's microchip registered?
- Does your dog have ID tags with your current contact information?
- In the sad event your dog goes missing, do you and your pet sitter have a recovery plan in place?

Please consider safety when selecting someone to care for your precious family. No one can ever be too cautious when it comes to pet safety!
