With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.

Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.

If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

Happy National Veterinary Receptionist Week! 🎈🎈

Although you've probably seen Katelin and Hannah greet you at the front desk from time to time, Elizabeth is our full-time receptionist! She's been with us for about a year now & we don't know how we got along without her!

Here are a few things about Elizabeth you may not know:
Elizabeth is a James Madison University alumni who loves to read. She's a huge horse lover and was a skilled rider for 14 years. She also knows firsthand how painful a copperhead's bite is! Elizabeth's birthday is in September and she shares it with Kelsea Ballerini & Sydney Sweeney.

We are extremely fortunate to have Elizabeth on our team and we share our appreciation with all the Veterinary Receptionists out there, this week especially -- Veterinary Medicine couldn't function without you! THANK YOU!! 🐶 😺
