PLEASE HEAR ME OUT… I would love to share with you a little about what we do. Our goal is to keep dogs with special needs out of shelters. Four years ago, we had a pup born with a congenital bone disorder. I named her Diva Mae. The vet recommended we consider euthanizing because of her condition. That was a very difficult decision. She seemed healthy but, she just could not walk. I began feeding h

er with a dropper, and then moved onto a bottle, and later a bowl. Specialist were amazed by her perky attitude and walking development by her next appointment! She inspired me so much that I decided to help other dogs with disabilities or in abusive situations. We did not have the funds on our own to support this level of rescue, because we are privately owned and not government funded. So, I decided proceeds made from all of my artwork, face painting, and flipped furniture would go directly toward rescuing dogs who could not help themselves. I call it Paint 4 Paws. We became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and 100% of any proceeds goes towards rehabilitating and caring for our rescued dogs. You'll often see us set up at craft shows, fairs and festivals. If you do please stop by and say hi and let me know you follow us. I have been a E911 Dispatcher for the past 23 years. My co-workers knows my passion for animals, so we remain on-call when dogs are left in bad situations. One of the most incredible impacts is seeing how others have begun to spring into action also, and help us rescue animals in need. Together, we have rehabilitated abandoned dogs, abused dogs, handicapped dogs, starving dogs, parvo pups, and dogs involved in criminal activity. We work with our rescued dogs in a home environment to develop trust, safety, and nutrition until they are healed, confident, and ready to be placed in their forever homes. Their fees are almost always free to vetted and approved homes. We go through between 350-500 lbs. of dog food a week. We are always in need of food, bowls, towels, blankets, cleaning supplies, toys, beds, training gear, crates and treats. There are several ways that you can help us fulfill our mission. Say Hello to Bo!!! 👋

He’s a 1.5 year old black cat. I rescued Bo when he was around two weeks old early November. Which would put his birthday around Halloween. (Go figure) His mom and siblings were killed by predators and he hid in a tree stump to survive. I barely could see him because he was so small, but could hear him. Following his faint cry’s I located him. Of course we always have nearly 30 dogs at any given time so the only way to keep him safe was to put him up in our spare bedroom, where he still lives to this day. You’d think he would be grateful, but he’s not. He’s still an a***e. He will let you hold him on his terms, but only for a short time. Then he will bite you. He’s mean to small dogs, and will jump on their backs and bite them. So I wouldn’t trust him around children. He gets the run of the house when the large dogs are in their crates. He would love to be outside but it’s just too dangerous here to do that. So, if you’d be interested in an ornery black cat that likes to mind his own business and expects you to mind yours, can live indoors or out, or both as long as he would be safe from predators. Bo would be perfect for someone who doesn’t
Want a needy pet and is independent. He likes to sit next to you from time to time while watching tv. He just isn’t a cuddler.

Say hello to Ace, Annie, and Axel! They are 10 week old cockapoo/shepherd mix. Also, a big howdy to Roxi, Raven, and Riley. They are also mixed breed but I’m not sure what kind. Some terrible people set them out on a strip job to fend for themselves. A nice lady has been fostering them and now they are ready for their forever homes. Let’s not forget Scout. She’s an approximately 3 month old beagle mix. She too was a dump. These types of humans that do such things really do suck. 😔 These puppies have so much love to give if you just give them a chance.

They are all friendly, and had their first vaccinations and dewormed.

Just an update on Rip for those who have ask about him. He’s still in survival mode at meal time, but he’s getting there. Yesterday I introduced him to fetch. At fist he wondered why I was throwing things at him but then he realized how the game went. He’s still got a ways to go but I think he’s going to be alright and one day be an excellent companion for someone. 🐾

Look who just turned FOUR!! 🥳 to the little girl who changed it all. Happy Birthday Diva Mae!! For those of you who don’t know her story… we’ve raised her sense she was 10 days old. Her momma didn’t want anything to do with her because she couldn’t walk. Doctors recommended euthanasia because she was born with a congenital bone disorder. She was determined to make it so, we did everything we could to make sure of it. Other than me having to carry her chubby 85 lbs body up and down steps she does wonderfully well. Happy birthday to her perfectly healthy siblings Eva, Ziva, Meria and Thomas. Wish you could’ve made it to the party. But, she had a good time with her friends playing tag 🐾

A couple of weeks ago I rescued this tiny German shepherd mix from a cliff side that it was hanging from. I assume it’s part German shepherd because his ears were already standing. This week, I’ve been gradually introducing him to the other dogs. Not wanting him to get hurt I introduced him first to Tess, the smallest pack member. I think he did okay and handled himself well. Say hello to Bo! 🐾

He’s a 12+ year old flood rescue dog with hip dysplasia that no one ever claimed but still, Hop’s The Man ❤️🐾

This past Sunday night the same feelings came back after a rain storm with strong winds came whipping through the mountains where my husband and I live with our 21 dogs and 11 puppies. When the sun came up, there were 22 trees down, 2 on our roof and all but 3 dog lots were destroyed. The power lines above our house is what’s holding up a large tree from going through it. We’re just waiting on the power company now. We’re moving and cutting trees the best we can. Most importantly nobody was hurt, and the dogs are crowded, but good. So keep us in your prayers to get rebuilt so we can start rescuing and rehoming German Shepherds again soon. Our Story

Thompson Tails Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization 501 (c)(3) that provides a foster based program to rescue German Shepherd and high-mix dogs from shelters, where they are at a high risk of being euthanized. We provide an owner referral program that works with owners who need to find a new home for their dog. Many of our K-9s will be trained and added into our therapy program which will visit nursing homes and hospitals. Our shepherds provide the needed comfort, emotional and support therapy to residents and patients. We are currently developing a program which will use our handicapped dogs to help eliminate the hateful bullying so many youngsters experience in our schools today.

One day we hope to have a large facility that will allow us to expand our goals even further. Until that time we rely on the rehoming fees of our AKC puppies and YOUR donations. We are always in need of dog food, dog bowls, towels, blankets, toys, beds and treats. There are several ways that you can help us fulfill our mission. Remember donations are tax deductible!
