So many reasons for this behaviour and that can make it a little trickier to stop 🛑
It can become compulsive.
It can be a way to seek interactions or attention.
Energy levels usually play a big part in this behaviour too.
Yes✅ Both females and males can show this behaviour.
Neutered or not.
Take note of when, where and what happened just before, all of this can help you decipher exactly why this is occurring.

My focus has always been to make sure dogs feel safe and happy during training...however, something that I am just as passionate about is making my clients feel safe and supported. With that being said, I want to make it loud and clear that I am a full supporter or diversity, equity, and inclusion of all genders, races, and ethnicities. We believe spreading love and kindness is the only way to move forward.
As we continue to go forward and spread awareness on dog education and making sure dogs are happy, I encourage everyone to look at your neighbors and remember to be kind to one another. 🥰

I am so incredibly happy that there are people out there willing to give Vegas the shot at life he deserves and I am so happy to have played a part in giving him that shot. This kid has been through a lot and despite it all is still ready to give love to the perfect home.

I truly wish people would be more kind and considerate to others. Especially us in the animal welfare field. We don’t do this for us, we do it for them.

We can’t thank everyone who shared Vegas’ post enough! Because of you, we have a lot of applications to go through and even sent up his first meet and greet for next week ❤️

We took down the previous post because the comments started to get out of hand. To reiterate the context that some people seemed to miss: his euthanasia was already planned before we even knew about him. Our rescue was asked if we could help, and what we could offer was giving him an extra month to find a home thanks to our amazing trainer, Mya, offering to foster until the end of January. We do not euthanize for time and space, EVER. This is not a normal situation and we’re just here to help with vetting adopters and giving him a last shot at a home. Thank you to everyone who had kind words to share and for helping Vegas!

Meet Vegas
Vegas is 1.5 year old 90 # GSD that we believe came from a workling line breed (poor breeder and he ended up in the shelter..)

Vegas is a sweet guy that loves to play and just wants to please you. He enjoys snuggling and watching TV as long as his needs are all met. He loves to play tug, fetch, and keep away. He LOVES the snow and could spend the whole day in it.

His ideal home will be someone who is incredibly active. He needs lots of walks, obedience training to work his brain, and other forms of enrichment to make sure his needs are biologically met.
He cannot be in a home with cats and is dog selective.

Vegas unfortunately is reactive. No—this is not due to him being a german shepard. he is NOT trying to protect. this is due to a lack of needs being met and having pent up frustration that he doesnt know what to do with his energy. Vegas WILL need a owner that is dedicated to working with a trainer. I am willing to work with whoever he goes home to, unless you already have a trainer you would like to use.

Bridget | 7 years old | Female

Here is the story of Bridget...

Bridget ended up in the shelter with 12 newborn puppies. Thankfully, we were able to get her and all of her babies out and into a foster home. She raised her puppies and she was a fantastic mom. She took such great care of them. As soon as they were posted on social media, the puppies grew wings and flew into forever families.

It's ok. We are used to the puppies going before the mom does. And, mom stays in her foster home after the puppies leave so that not much changes for her. She honestly doesn't know that she is a "foster dog". Bridget had the opportunity to go into a new foster home to see if she could be a match for the family. And she was.

She was adopted and lovingly accepted into her home and she is still there and enjoying life thoroughly... But very sadly, it was discovered that one very important member of the family was experiencing intense symptoms, leading them to find out that they were allergic to Bridget. So, now... Bridget faces needing to move to a new home again.

Bridget is fantastic with other dogs and she is spectacular with children. She enjoys being around her favorite humans, getting spoiled with treats and toys and being loved. She is good on leash, she is kennel trained and she is housebroken.

We are once again hoping for your help in finding her a family where she will not have to move again. Please apply below to meet Bridget!
