Today we celebrated Bentleys birthday. He is always ready to party when he sees the whip cream can come out. Needless to say he was very excited when he realized it was him we were celebrating! Happy birthday buddy!

We would like to thank Joey’s Yardarm, Tangles Salon, Lornacopia, Cosmic Corner, Farm and Fleet, Reefpoint Brewhouse and our amazing KCK dogs and handlers for making our 2nd Urban Canine Good Citizen class a successful one! In this class we visit local public places and worked on our manners and obedience in public. This is a tough class including things like a 3 min down stay on a public patio, sitting at corners and crossing busy streets, bikes and skateboards, being pet by strangers, an Uber ride and walking politely through stores and crowded spaces. These dogs and their owners worked hard and made great improvements over the 4 weeks of class.
This class was so fun! If you are interested in taking it, we run it in June and your dog must have taken CGC to sign up. Our next STAR puppy class and Canine good citizen class starts on 9/10/24 with limited spots available. Call KCK at (262) 898-1080 to register!

Bru got her first big girl haircut today! Bru is as wiggly and as happy as can be! She has a hard time sitting still for more than 3 seconds! Shout out to groomer Jordyn for having all of the patience getting Bru through her first full haircut!!

Hi my name is Suzie. I was told that I am a Powder Puff Chinese Crested dog. To me that sounds like a pretty fancy way of saying lovable little lap dog. I am 11 years old and am currently being fostered at Katie’s Canine Klubhouse. The ladies at the Klubhouse have been taking care of my training, boarding and grooming needs since I was a puppy. That’s how we met. I love my friends at the Klubhouse but I really miss my old life. You see, I had a mom and dad that loved me so very much and did everything they could to keep me. Sadly, the assisted living facility we had to move to would not allow me to stay. I wasn’t used to apartment living and I was so scared about my dad’s health and his being in and out of the hospital that I became too anxious and mom couldn’t care for me the way I needed or the way she wished to. I get along great with all my dog friends and rarely have I met a lap that I won’t sit in. I have enough energy to go for a walk with you and still enjoy playing but if you just want to sit and watch tv I enjoy that too. My vet has also been seeing me my whole life and assured the ladies at the Klubhouse and HOPE Safehouse that I have never missed a check up and have been very well cared for my whole life. If you or someone you know would like to give me the chance to love them with every one of my 17 lbs please contact Hope Safehouse. They will be sure that I get the message that you called.

While some of the girls were inside capturing amazing pictures, the outdoor “bar” was open and the bartender was serving puparitas!

Weather was amazing
Bartender got sunburnt
Lots of drinks were spilled
Sloppy kisses were given
Good company both days
And no bar fights broke out

Happy birthday Ava. Thanks for partying with us!

Week 3! Gate Control! Something we have in the past struggled with and a common place for chaos in a daycare environment! Everyone wants to go through, even if they don’t know who or what is on the other side! This week we worked on maintaining space around the gate, using our bodies and the “back up” command. The Daycare Games challenge was to hold the gate open with a group of dogs not pushing their way through. We had fun competing against each other this week! More importantly, it was so beneficial to work on calming the group of dogs in this normally chaotic situation. #daycaregames #backup #gatecontrol #doggurus #staffcompetition #friendlycompetition #daycarechaos

This weeks Daycare Games winner is a 3 way tie with a perfect score!! Katie, Jordyn and Janessa got their whole group to sit for 4 seconds! Melissa came in second with 9. Alyssa came in 3rd with 8 and the rest of the staff tied with 7! This was a fun challenge! Thank you for everyone who practiced sits at home! Next week we work on gate control. This week we started our first ever Daycare Games! Each KCK staff member picked 10 dogs to do a recall with while in daycare! Here are just a few of our Successes and our “Nope, not doing that!” 🤭 We had so much fun having a little “friendly” competition between the staff!! Next week we move on to group sit! How many dogs we can get to SIT at one time for 4 seconds! Happy February four-TEETH!! Happy Valentines Day from KCK! 💝

Katie’s Canine Klubhouse is 15 today! 15 years ago Ginny and I decided that Caledonia was where we wanted to embark on our journey of running a dog daycare, training and boarding facility. We met a man that was willing to work with us and allow us to modify a rental space suited for dogs and that’s all it took. With some help from family and friends we were able to convert our first location on Douglas Ave into a suitable space in 2009. We grew quickly, Melissa and Allie came aboard and began to pour their heart and souls into the Klubhouse as well. We expanded our space at the first location but once we added grooming to our list of services we knew we needed more space. In the early summer of 2013 we were fortunate enough to move down the street to a new location with much more space allowing us to accommodate A-LOT more dogs, hold larger classes and customize a grooming space. Throughout this amazing journey we have gotten the chance to work with countless amazing dogs and their people. So many of you have become family. We have been able to rehabilitate hundreds of dogs and help them find their forever homes as well as help struggling families to improve their relationship with their fur babies. The Klubhouse has 13 amazing employees now and each one of us brings something special to the business. Thank you for trusting us, growing with us and continuing to support our dream of “Keeping families together one dog at a time”. **I do not own the rights to this music**
