Monty is 100% Anatolian Shepherd! 😮

Only a few guessed it right!
Here are a few facts on Anatolian Shepherds:

1. Anatolian shepherd dogs aren't obviously affectionate.

2. Anatolian Shepherds are not apartment dogs. They need a large, securely fenced yard where they can roam and exercise. They are active dogs and require daily exercise to stimulate them physically and mentally.

3. Anatolian Shepherd dogs can be challenging to train due to their strong-willed and independent nature, bred for guarding livestock, but with consistent, positive reinforcement and early socialization, they can be well-mannered companions

4. With family members and other people well known to them, the Anatolian Shepherd is loyal and friendly, however this breed retains their working nature, suspicious of strangers and very fast to react to any perceived threat.

Toto is returning from his sleep over this morning. Unfortunately he did not do very well with another dog who is around very often. He seems to be a little obsessed with his people and doesn’t really like other animals around them. Other than that, they said he done great and is such a sweet boy! Definitely a Velcro pup! They said he seems to be house broken and crate trained. Toto is not sterilized, which means he may only be adopted to residents of Radford City, Pulaski County or Montgomery County, per Virginia State Law. Meet and greets will only take place once you have an approved application.

Meet Socks!

Socks is an Australian Shepherd /Pittie mix who is 11 months old.
He is house broke and crate trained.
He is great with kids but very hyper.
He loves to play with other dogs but will chase a cat.

He loves to play and thinks he is a lap dog (which he is in our house). Loves treats, belly rubs, and car rides. Will sit and shake.

Socks will go to the door and scratch when he needs to go out.

He doesn't like dog beds. He'd rather lay in the floor, on the couch, or on your lap.

Socks is up to date on all shots. He has not been neutered. But has an appointment scheduled for April 23rd.

Meet Shelby!

“Shelby is a 8 year old American Bulldog. She is very friendly and loves attention. Shelby is very energetic and playful. Playing fetch is one of her favorite things to do. She is good with cats and with other dogs, but she hasn't had very much experience with young children. Shelby is crate trained, so she is fine being out and about in the house, but when left alone, she is more comfortable in her crate. She also will go to her crate when she wants some alone time. She has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots.”

Sweet little Pippy is still waiting very patiently for the right humans to come along and give her a chance. This little one is SO full of life! We really don’t understand why she hasn’t had much interest. We believe she is a Pointer mix and she is around 4months old now. She absolutely loves playing fetch and is obsessed with any kind of ball! I promise with her around, you won’t have many bad days!

Meet Kota!

Kota is a very sweet but very timid little Pittie mix. She is allegedly 8months old. It was obvious she didn’t have the best start before she made her way to us…but she has quickly learned to trust us and every day she comes around a little more. She is still waiting on the warm weather so she can finally get a bath, but today she done great with getting her nails trimmed! She has a very goofy personality and is so full of life!

Monty’s morning energy is quite the entertainment! He has gotten into a very good routine, breakfast, bathroom, then zoomies! This boy knows how to sit, down and come. Monty is now neutered, so he can be adopted out of our Jurisdiction. This boy will absolutely need a firm hand, maybe even someone with experience with his breed. While he does know basic commands, he is still young so he will need constant direction. He would love a big fenced in yard to explore while doing his duty of keeping his home safe. We know the right people are out there for this little girl! Mabel is one of her own kind. She is a little cautious around strangers and is always eager to let you know when someone is around! She has energy and absolutely loves to run! An active single person would be her choice! Mabel has come such a long way since she came to us. Trust me, this wasn’t possible a month ago. To be little, she is stout! She was definitely the one walking you. Today, we went out for a walk, most of which was a loose leash walk! She is learning ‘Heel’, she’s a pro at ‘Sit’ and she even knows ‘Paw/shake’. Mabel still needs a little reassurance around new people, especially in a public setting. This girl has great potential! If you’re interested in meeting Mabel, please message us for an application!
