We will soon be able to offer an online store through our practice website www.balancedveterinary.com where you can purchase food, medications and preventatives and have them delivered directly to your door. Balanced Veterinary Care is happy to announce that we now offer Solensia for cats. Solensia is a monoclonal antibody that affects nerve growth factor, a major factor in osteoarthritic pain. This new modality can help greatly reduce pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. It is a once monthly injection. If you are interested, please just ask how your cat may benefit from this new treatment!

Thanksgiving is a time for friends, family and holiday feasts—but also a time for possible distress for our animal companions. Pets won’t be so thankful if they munch on undercooked turkey or a pet-unfriendly floral arrangement, or if they stumble upon an unattended alcoholic drink.

I am thankful for all of my clients and their pets and the positive impact you make on my life every day. You all truly make the practice of veterinary medicine a joy for me.
Sometimes, I still need a break though. I will be spending time with family from Wednesday November 23rd until Friday November 25th. I will resume normal appointment hours on Monday November 28th.
Please enjoy this time with your family furry and not! (Though I'll admit sometimes I enjoy the furry family's company a bit more.)

I had the pleasure of speaking with two wonderful people from Paws of Honor today. I had no idea this amazing organization existed and I am glad that I now know. Paws of Honor is an organization here in Virginia working to provide financial assistance with veterinary care for retired service dogs from both military and police assignments.
