Congratulations to our newest Service Dog graduate, Sam!

Sam has a special story. His handlers went to the shelter with the intention of getting another small dog when they came across Sam. It was love at first sight, and knowing her husband's need for a Service Dog, Amanda encouraged her husband, Ed, to bring Sam home with them.

Sam was a natural and fell into Service tasks without being taught. Despite being a high-energy breed, he was happy to walk alongside Ed no matter his pace, and when a fall happened outside the home, Sam stayed by Ed's side until help arrived. We are honored that Sam's family trusted us with his training, and it has been a joy to watch Handler and K9 grow together.

It's important to remember little dogs need training too. Not giving them the proper training can cause anxiety, frustration and unwanted behaviors. While it may be easy to physically move them, it is important they keep their autonomy and they receive the same training as our larger K9 companions.

While training smaller dogs can present unique challenges we are here to help you work through them and provide all the training guidance you need.
