Remi maintains her innocence and says the dirt on her nose is not enough evidence.

Why do dogs dig?

There are a number of reasons dogs dig, including Mental stimulation, cool dirt, and/or hiding valuables. For some breeds, digging is instinct, and some studies even suggest that it releases happy hormones in the dogs' brains.

How do you prevent this behavior? Most of us would like to avoid holes throughout our yard. My number one suggestion for clients with canines who love to dig is to give them a place to dig. Find a spot you can designate for your fur baby to dig their heart out. Some clients allow their dogs to dig under the porch, others have set up sandboxes, and some have set up a border in one area of the yard. This allows your dog to continue to dig without tearing up your yard and without you having to supervise your dog while they are outside and give continuous corrections.

This solution may not work for everyone, but if you can give your dog a safe and non-destructive outlet for its natural behavior, you may find that you both live happier lives.

While their reactions may be entertaining, your fur-baby is likely extremely frustrated. Cats struggle with the same frustrations as our K9 friends.

We recommend looking into flirt poles as a healthy alternative.
