Dog speak for this week. Dog loss
It's a very painful thing to lose a loved fur baby. Most people just don't understand that the bond is as strong as loosing a partner or child. The pain is as excruciating, and the heartbreak is shattering. I lost my Golden Retriever Einstein this year. And when I read online of others going through the same pain, I wished there was something I could do or say. So, I thought I would share this thought. The reality is, you need to keep in motion. Your Dog would have kept you moving had they still been at your side. It's ok to cry, to talk about how much you miss them. It's ok to dream about them. Take however much time you need. And when your ready, and you feel its time, it's ok to take another four legged miracle into your life. You may find that when you are ready, your love for your new pup will be a different love all together. You are not trying to replace your lost dogs love. You will find you still have room in your shattered heart for another new love. Dogs are proof that miracles exist.
Let me leave you with a wonderful poem by Kipling.
I have done mostly what most men do,
And pushed it out of my mind;
But I can’t forget, if I wanted to,
Four-Feet trotting behind.
Day after day, the whole day through—
Wherever my road inclined—
Four-Feet said, ‘I am coming with you!’
And trotted along behind.
Now I must go by some other round,—
Which I shall never find—
Somewhere that does not carry the sound
Of Four-Feet trotting behind.
It's ok, I know what your feeling, I really do...
