My favorite part about this job is getting to watch these lovely pups grow up and see how much work their humans put into their training! Nothing makes me prouder than an owner that is super dedicated to their dogs training! Oakleys mom even has plans to do agility with him!

Evie got out for another short training trip over the weekend! Practicing a lot of our place, wait and stay cues during this trip. Plus some surface confidence!

This was Evie’s first training trip out since her addisonian crisis in June. Safe to say she blew me away during this outing. Multiple big distractions such as kids running around, men talking to her and loud machinery. This gal handled everything perfectly with great focus and body language!

It’s been a long week! For those of you who don’t know, my Evie had surgery back in April for a torn CCL. While surgery went great and her leg is healing beautifully, ever since her surgery something has been a bit off about her. Her appetite had decreased significantly since middle of June, she spent most of the day sleeping and her anxiety was through the roof.
on Friday night after trying to offer her a hamburger that she wouldn’t even touch we knew it was time to take her to the emergency vet. She was admitted into their internal medicine program and they began to run tests to hopefully figure out what was wrong. After they ruled out a blockage, infection and etc. they suggested we test for Addison’s disease.

After running multiple tests we found out that Evie has Addison’s disease and this explains a lot of her behavior and issues recently as well as stuff like skin issues, chronic vomiting, nausea and more that we struggled with long-term. The veterinarians at NC State‘s internal medicine department agreed that Evie has probably had Addison’s disease her entire life but often times when a dog goes through something traumatic like surgery the symptoms of Addison’s disease can really take over. Dogs that have Addison’s disease can live a full and healthy lifespan with treatment so Evie will have to make a few diet changes, take two medication‘s daily and go back to NC State monthly for a shot and a blood draw for the rest of her life. We are both so incredibly grateful that NC State was able to find out what was wrong with her as Addison’s disease can be deadly if left untreated.
Luckily on Monday the veterinarian and I agreed that Evie would be happier if we continued treatment at home and followed up at the vet school every two days for a blood test and some more fluids (if needed).

hopefully life will return to normal now, and training content will go back to our normal schedule!
I am so grateful to have training clients who are so understanding during this time as I just needed last week off to recuperate and get everything with Evie handled🐾❤️

Let’s give a warm welcome to Noli the Australian Shepherd puppy! Noli will be joining the What the Click family for an estimated 3 to 4 lessons to work on excessive puppy mouthing. It’s not uncommon for herding breeds to struggle with some excessive mouthing during adolescence. During her time training with us we’ll help her understand that the mouthing isn’t appropriate and teach her other behaviors to do instead. A few behaviors she’ll learn during this time are the place cue, leave-it, and settling!
