We are in tears of joy! Raj was adopted today by Andrew, who has a ranch for rescue hounds back in Texas. He and his tripawd hound, Elvis, drove here to pick up Raj, who has been in our care for almost two years. Turns out he was just waiting on this awesome opportunity. We are beyond happy for Raj and special shout out to for helping us manage his chronic skin and ear infections for a year and half! This is why having a trusted vet partner is clutch to have successful adoptions. Mazel tov, Raj and Andrew (and Elvis, the tripawd cutie pie) 🐾🙏🏽

Jones 🐾 An elderly, neglected senior found as a stray in another county, he came to us from the people who found him and today we got him to the vet after observing him for a couple of days. ✅ high Heartworm positive, ✅ extremely high kidney levels, ✅ cannot feel back right leg, ✅ infection in spine, ✅ UTI, ✅ anemic, ✅ arthritic knees, ✅ pneumonia. Other than that…! He is a medical mess, but eats well, drinks well, and is sweet as sin. We had to try a couple of aggressive IV antibiotics, fluids and an anti-nausea, just to see if we can help him feel better. We will continue monitoring him and keeping in touch with and we hope we can have him turn the course around. We hope you feel led to help with his medical expenses thus far. Petunia came to us two days ago from a hoarding/cruelty case *because we had someone eager to foster!* It saved her life. Today, we got her to our veterinary partner and while she was HW-, she is in heat, she has an internal an@l polyp, she will need an xray for her legs which have something keeping her gait off, has a chest mast cell tumour and has bottom eyelid entropian. We will get her spayed as soon as possible so these other issues can be examined further under sedation. 🐾 While she’s got a LOT going on medically, she is in the best hands and has the snuggliest, lovingest personality. Velma! Velma had a little photo sesh with her foster humans, so we thought we’d share the products with you! How gorgeous!? Velma is around 6-8 and is wonderful with dogs and humans. We haven’t cat tested her, but she LOVES running and playing with her foster dog sibling in the fenced in yard, so dog friends are welcomed! We got some clarity 💡Here’s what Kleo is- not a Great Dane mix as we thought! Someone donated a dna kit to help us identify her and get her the right home 🙏🏽 So here she is! She is a wonderful play friend to all dogs, never grumbly or mean, would do well with some basic training with a new parent because she’s smart as a whip, and needs a fenced in yard with a dog friend so she can play and have a fun time. We celebrated the New Year by having a few adoptions! Meowzel tov to Glinda, Gustav, Frank and Grace on their new, forever families. Starting 2025 off with a bang, their new families! Way to put intention into the start of a year!

Meet Jasmine a 4 yr old female Pyrenese mix that was surrendered by Owner. She was in horrible shape, skinny, and she is believed to have hip dysplasia! She is Rescue only and needs a Foster and rescue to step up for her the Shelter is at capacity and she will need to be out on 1/2/25! Her weight is up to 70 pounds now, but she does need to gain more weight. She also is already spayed, heartworm negative

🕎ANOTHER CHANUKAH MIRACLE!🙏🏽 Double Mitzvah day ❤️❤️ Welcome to Maple (from Rowan) and Cheshire (from Durham APS) who are both Heartworm Positive angels who both were scheduled for euthanasia today? Why?! NO ROOM IN THE INN. There’s not enough space in the shelters and we had people step up and say: I am willing to foster these specific dogs and save their lives. Welcome to our newest Neshama community members and thank you for wanting to save North Carolina lives with us!

A huge thank you to House Creek Beverage Company for sponsoring our Foster Angel Tree this holiday season! 🐶🐱 Your generosity brought so much love to our fosters, cats, dogs, and volunteers. As an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, your support truly makes a difference.

This year, we had a few hospice dogs on the tree who sadly passed in December. While we mourn their loss, their special gifts were repurposed to help several new hospice pups we welcomed later in the month. ❤️ Your kindness ensures that every animal in our care feels cherished, no matter where they are in their journey.

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED: This is 4 year old, blind, hw- dog, Angus. He dies tomorrow UNLESS we can get a foster to commit to him. Won’t you help this guy live to see another day? He is a good boy, good with other dogs and is getting stir crazy as a blind dog in a shelter. Our co-founder, Zach, took these two sweet souls to the vet first thing this morning as they had significantly declined the past couple of days and got some bad news. Phantasmo, the kitty, had an extremely enlarged bladder and was unable to keep his urine or f***s in his body, he had neurologic signs of pain and decline because of age. Paul was part of our cute bonded pair of seniors we pulled recently. We took him to our vet when we first got him because he’s 16 and we wanted to see how he was. His bloodwork at that time was perfect and he has been a wonderful houseguest! But two days ago his mouth started bleeding and last night it became even worse. When he saw the vet today, she discovered he had sores in his mouth which had burst and he had swollen glands- when aspirated and studied, Paul was shown to have lymphoma and his body was in the process of dying. These two declined so quickly and this visit ended up being two euthanasias. We are just broken. Phantasmo and Paul, your lives were a blessing to us and countless others. Thank you to our vet partners for their love, skill and understanding and please be gentle with us as we are still volunteers working during the holidays in this sad time.
