Dear residents of the City of Raleigh, City of Holly Springs, and City of Garner,
Why don’t you support TNR (trap-neuter-return) of feral cats? Do you understand what the purpose is for TNR? It’s to keep them from making more kittens after more kittens after more kittens. And it is also to have them get at least one rabies vaccine in them to protect them AND us. Don’t like cats chasing your birds? TNR them so they can’t procreate and the numbers will steadily decrease as they age out. Don’t like cats at all? TNR them so they can’t procreate and the numbers will steadily decrease as they age out. Love cats? TNR them so they don’t have to suffer through heat cycles and (literally) fight off all the males trying to force them to mate. TNR is a PRO-ACTIVE solution to a problem created by humans. That’s right.... WE CREATED THE FERAL CAT PROBLEM. Euthanasia isn’t the answer. Healthy adult females can have several litters a year, with as many as 9/10 kittens in them. Yes, a lot of them die due to predation, illness, humans, etc. But they will always produce more than we can catch and euthanize. TNR stops the life cycle. And this is a good thing for everyone, including the cats. So come on, citizens... do a little research. Tell your city councils you want TNR so those of us who are ready can step in and help EVERYONE. Neshama has a Feral Program and we are actively TNRing cat friends all the time. It is a crucial part of helping cats not die from shelter euthanasia. See a cat? Check for a tipped ear, like our buddy Furioso here! Not tipped? Get the cat/trap the cat/ask for help and GET THEM FIXED. Ask our friends at and to get them fixed! Be a part of the solution, folks.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Yuki passed last night peacefully surrounded by love 🌈 . This sweet girl lost her fight due to complications from pyometra and pneumonia—an outcome that could have been prevented if she had been spayed earlier in her life. Her death was an injustice, her suffering was avoidable, and it’s a devastating reminder of the importance of responsible pet care.
To everyone who donated to help Yuki, we are profoundly grateful. We spent over $900 trying to give her a chance. Though we couldn’t save her, your kindness has given us the opportunity to rescue another soul in need. Today, we are pulling a 12-year-old dog whose owner was hospitalized and had to be surrendered. Thanks to your generosity, and a foster stepping up to help, this senior dog will know love, care, and comfort in his golden years. Your donations make all the difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals. Thank you for standing with us. 🌈♥️

🚨 Urgent: We need your help to save Yuki 🚨 Yuki, a sweet and gentle soul, is fighting for her life right now. Her previous owners didn’t spay her, and as a result, she’s now battling a life-threatening infection called pyometra, along with pneumonia. She’s currently at the emergency vet, and while the incredible medical team is doing everything they can, we need to stabilize her before we can proceed with surgery. But we can't do this alone. 💔 Neshama Animal Rescue is a small nonprofit, and right now, we don’t have the funds to cover the cost of her critical care. Yuki deserves a chance to know love and safety, and with your help, she can have that chance. Every single dollar gets us closer to saving her life. Please, if you can, donate today. Let’s show Yuki that her story isn’t over yet. 💕 PLEASE SHARE!

The many faces of Yuki in the car. This little Yorkie is not what you would normally expect, she is calm and very present and is a wonderful companion. She likes dogs, but doesn’t need dogs and she doesn’t mind cats. She even let a little girl at Starbucks kiss her on the head this morning! She is an easy-going and wonderful animal, we hope you will consider her for your family.

Update on Maverick!
We had a rough couple of days this weekend. He wasn’t very interested in food or walking out of his crate. He was sleepy and tired, weary it seemed. His weight is still around 62, so he doesn’t gain, but isn’t losing. Starvation leads to extreme thiamine deficiency, which impacts food absorption and parts of the brain- the lethargy could be from this. His vet has put B vitamins in his fluids we are supposed to be giving at home, but it stings too much and he was very angry with us when we tried to do that. We will go back for a recheck this week and hopefully get the B vitamins a bit more diluted. He enjoyed walks with his cat, Cinnamon, today and yesterday, and has fine back to eating well. He eats 3-4 cans with kibble each day, along with probiotics, protein treats, goat’s milk and bone broth. We thank you all deeply for your concern for our guy and for all the gifts you send. They mean so much and I tell him everyday that so many people love him.

Animal cruelty you are committing when you eat these precious beings.

60-70% of the sows in the United States live like this.

Not for a few days, or a few weeks...
Their ENTIRE lives.

On cement and steel.

No grass, sunshine, or mud.

No playing, or sleeping snout to snout in cozy straw.

Desperate to see and care for their babies but they can never move to nuzzle and bond with them.

Pigs are more intelligent and sensitive than even the smartest and more well trained dog.

Every time you "add bacon," you're paying for this.

Our friends at The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary:
If you want to lessen the pain and suffering of countless animals that are held captive and destined for brutal death, YOU can stop eating animals. The less of a demand there is, the less suffering there will be. It is us humans who can make more compassionate choices.

**🐾🐾FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED**🐾🐾
Welcome Opie and Buddy to Neshama!
🤍Opie is a 5 month old snuggle mush who needs confidence and love. He is good w dogs, but will need guidance on leash walking and manners around food.
🖤 Buddy was taken to a shelter partner when firefighters came to his home to do a wellness check and his owner was deceased- when they came to remove his owner’s body that he was guarding, he bit the firefighter and didn’t understand why his dad was gone. Come on. This guy just deserves so much better. Help his grieving heart by fostering him asap.

The first dog Neshama ever took on, ever pulled from a shelter was Carson from Wake County in December 2019. He had recently been run over, was newly blind, lost an eye AND he had severe heartworm. Despite all of this, he was the most loving dog and we couldn’t figure out why! Carson was finally adopted two months after we got him and his new parents live in Charlotte. We’ve kept in touch with them since said adoption and he’s been the best big brother to their many senior Doxie foster pups. He was the gentlest soul but he couldn’t fight cancer anymore. His amazing and loving folks couldn’t let him suffer so he left this world yesterday. Our first rescue baby, our pride and joy! Thank you to Erika and Matt for giving him an amazing life. We love you, Carson 🤍🖤🤍 Your memory will be a blessing, sweet boy.
