Neshama Rescue is an all volunteer independent, 501 (c)(3) animal welfare and education organization. Our mission is to promote the rescue and adoption of companion animals, with a focus on senior and special needs pets. We believe every soul has intrinsic value and we seek to help communities see that value to create a kinder world. Our goals are to rescue animals from shelters, place them in lov

ing foster homes, and adopt them out to forever homes, as well as strengthen our communities’ education, laws and regulations regarding animal overpopulation and care.

“Neshama” means “soul” in Hebrew - our goal is to do soulful work and save as many souls as possible.

This year for Giving Tuesday, we hope you will GIVE your foster commitment to our friends at and foster this pup, Molly. She will be euthanized on FRIDAY if they can’t get a committed foster for her. Her previous person describes her as the sweetest and most loving dog. She is smart, gentle and loving. Great with dogs and just wants love and play time! This is a low hanging fruit here, y’all. Please consider fostering and saving her life.

Brian went back to the vet today. He is near the end of his life, we are asking for your prayers for his end of life to be peaceful and joyful. His foster mom has done a wonderful job with him and he will have the dignified ending we promised him when we pulled him from the shelter. They all deserve this.

🙏🏼 HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🍁 We are grateful for every foster and every donor so we can make sure we can continue providing care for the animals who remain in our care. Without fosters and donors, we couldn’t give these guys the end of life care they deeply deserve. Thanks to each and every one of you. May you be blessed with peace, good health, and continued compassion for all beings!

Koko 🤍 🌈 2010-2025. Today we lost a Neshama sanctuary pup, Koko. We got her and her daughter, Kiki, from a local shelter after their human could no longer care for them. But they’d been loved their whole lives and their foster family has loved and cared for them both immensely. Kiki is now without her momma for the first time in her 13 years and she will be lost. Please keep her in your prayers, as well as her foster family, so that they can all be comforted during this sad time. You were loved by so many, Koko. Thanks to the Jones family for caring for her until the end. We are so grateful to you for your kindness and compassion.

We got Kes to her spay appointment this morning and boy, was she on alert! This tiny girl has already had two failed litters, so it was way time for that part of her life to end. Her appointment for spay, pain meds, microchip, FELV/FIV Test, FVRCP AND ear cleaning came to $186 at the low cost clinic. Please donate to cover the cost for our girl and then once she’s healed, she’ll be available for adoption. This tiny, medium haired baby is a LOVE!

Brian has been in our care for just over a year 🩶When we pulled him from an NC shelter, we thought he would be with us maybe a month or two, but because of good care and love, he is still here! He went to the vet today and needed bloodwork and a urinalysis- so he got an antibiotic and pain meds so we are grateful he has good care with his sanctuary foster momma, Kim. 🐾His total today was $390🐾 If you’d like to help cover that vet cost for Brian, we’d be grateful 🩶so would he!

These angels had been dumped in a neighborhood outside of Winston-Salem. Clearly not ferals who need to be TNR’d, their finder and a networker found a way to get them to safety and warmth and now they are in need of VETTING. We got them spay and neuter/shot appts on Nov 7th and 18th. It will cost $190 for each and we’d love to raise enough to pay for them to be fixed. No more babies for these babies!

🤍 ARLO 🤍 A majestic, loyal guardian bestie, Arlo is ready for a committed family who won’t give up on him. Found as a stray, this guy is waiting for his people. He deserves the loyalty he gives so lovingly. His season is coming- cold- and he is READY! While he does love to be outside in the cool weather, he also loves being inside with his people. He will need continued support helping him feel confident and will need your reassurance, but he’s worth it. To apply for this sweet protector, please go to neshamarescue.org 🤍🤍

This is Ben! One of a handful of adoptable animals still with Neshama. He wants to show off some of his end of summer photos to try to find the right family! Ben is a 3 year old ~75 pound mix LB mix 🖤 He is the coolest color with a dark ridge down his back, and is extremely soft. He is easy to train, very obedient, and extremely fun! Couch potatoes need not apply, as Ben wants to do things (with or without you) but preferably with you (though cuddling on the couch is awesome after doing other stuff together). Ben has started scent work training, has professional obedience training, and will excel at any job he is given the chance to try! He is good with other dogs when managed by a seasoned dog lover. He currently lives easily with 5+ other dogs and is very gentle when playing with his friends, but sometimes is unsure how to handle new friends - but then takes guidance well. He is still being introduced to cats, but can likely coexist with them just fine as his prey drive is medium - low. He desperately wants to be a good boy so needs some boundaries and guidance along the way! To learn more about this awesome soul, please DM us or email us at [email protected] 🖤🐾

Sanctuary pup, Gertie, update ❤️ What we thought was a ruptured mammary tumour was an exacerbated skin tag/nipple which became infected from either too much licking or from the folds of her skin rubbing a great deal. Because of her serious belly folds, this made it hard to see and even harder to treat. Her wound was cleaned and as you can see, she didn’t hold a grudge against her doctor! She’s now on oral and topical antibiotics for her irritation. We are so relieved! She will now return to her fluffy bed for naps and keeping all the other dogs in line. Her medicine and vet visit came to a total of $210, if you feel led to donate to her care.

Happy National Dog Day! These are three doggies who need a home to call their own. We are eager to find their special people! Dreamy, Ben and Arlo. They’ve been waiting so long for their families and their foster homes are eager to foster other doggies in need. We hope you will consider one of these angels so that we can fulfill their destiny of being a forever animal companion to someone! *For the month of August, these three dogs have a sponsored donation which makes their adoption fee onoy $100 each!* Dogs make the world infinitely better. 🩵🐾
