Nope 👎 not on foal watch with this special girl but definitely keeping our eyes on her.

While being started under saddle she sustained an injury that resulted in a ddft tear and later a mechanical founder. We are a number of years past the injury but the residual affects remain.

Having horses is not for the weak of heart. Yes, they can bring us much joy but also cause our heart to hurt. And while this is the case I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s not just a passion ~ it’s a way of life. Not everyone understands but for those that do……you are my tribe 😉

1938 70-year-old Elizabeth Arnold
Even though she was only a reported 5ft tall, Elizabeth was a darn good blacksmith who was thought to be the only female blacksmith in England in the early 20th century. Shoeing a horse outside of a 400 year-old forge in Kent. She was still working when she was 70 years old and was said to have been able to swing a 10lb sledgehammer like no one’s business.

Whats the best part of being a grandparent?

It's not the cliche that "you can spoil them and send them home." Being a grandparent allows you to be the parent you should have been the first time but couldnt or werent. A grandparent is calm, attentive, fun, forgiving...and never hurried. We understand carpets can be cleaned, that a child showing you a different rock for the 34th time is a blessing. We dont care much about bills, or that the slip-n-slide will kill the grass...it will grow back, but not as fast as they grow up. We arent focused on our careers or chores or self. We dont care if a child is particularly good sports, so long as she smiles as she runs off the field. A grandchild sees strength and wisdom in our crows feet eyes, not age. A grandparent sees hope and joy in those small, sparkling eyes. We see each other for what we are. The truest love either will ever know.
