We sent our latest fosters to the rescue in CT yesterday. we had these kittens for 9 weeks from 2 weeks.old. They were so fun to foster. We miss them but they will find wonderful forever homes.

I haven't posted in awhile. I want to post about a special foster we had and lost. His name was Flounder. He came to us with his feral mom and his sister from the pound. The kittens were 2 weeks old and adorable.

At about 4 weeks old the male kitten, Flounder developed some neurological symptoms. He also had issues with his GI tract and we weren't sure he was going to make it. A wonderful vet tech took him and worked wonders with him over a period of about 2 months. Then it came time that we could bring him back home.

He was now 3 months old and a real goofball. He was a little clumsy and a little slow on some things but a very sweet guy. The plan was that we would foster him for awhile and get him ready for adoption.

Over the next 3 months Flounder managed to endear himself to us. Flounder did some things a little differently. While most cats climb into bed and lay next to you, Flounder leaned against my back and slid down. He also didn't climb into our laps, he leapt. If you weren't expecting it it was quite the surprise. Every morning he would leap into my lap and I would hug him and kiss his head. He would turn his face up so I could kiss his face. We both loved this time.

When he was about 6 months old we started talking to the rescue about the best family situation for him to be adopted into. John and I both had our hearts in our throat because he was such a special boy. We love all our fosters but we were going to have a hard time sending this one off. But we knew that we had to let him go so we had room for more fosters.

Then one morning Flounder was acting very strangely and we took him to the vet. Then he was transferred to the emergency vet. They ran a bunch of tests and determined he had a number of serious congenital problems. They could do surgery for $10,000 but didn't think he would have a good quality of life even with the surgery. The decision was made to end his suffering and have him euthanized.

It had been raining for 2 days but a few minutes after he stopped breathing, a ray of sunshine came through the blinds. I like to think that was Flounder going to the 🌈 bridge. I haven't posted about this earlier because 2 months out I still have tears running down my cheeks as I write this. Sorry this is so long but its such a hard thing to express.

We just picked this friendly, gorgeous kitten up from one of our partners in SC. What a beautiful cat. She will journey to Connecticut where she awaits a forever home.
