This cause is near and dear to my heart.
Their organization is dedicated to providing a better life and circumstances to dogs in need.

Tips and Tricks for successful grooming appointments. Setting dogs up for a successful relationship with their groomer is super important. Many breeds need routine grooming to keep their skin and coat in tip top shape. Dogs often develop issues in the salon for many reasons.

Common reasons for salon anxiety start with
A Irregular grooming schedule which leads to the pup coming in with tangles, impacted coat, build up on the coat, and a lack of exposure to the salon. Tangles that are left for the groomer to brush out make for an unpleasant salon visit and this can be quite painful as well as add time to the grooming process which isn't pleasant for the pup.

Impaction is excess coat. When dogs are not properly bathed, dried and brushed out dead coat builds up and creates impaction. Removal of the impacted coat is a hard job.
Often times impaction can cause dogs to be hot, itchy, matted, and uncomfortable.
If dogs with matting or impaction are washed at home they can hold moisture under the impacted or matted coat and this creates skin issues, and can even allow mold to grow on the skin.

Dirty coats can be hard to maintain.
Excess build up can be difficult to remove and can require additional shampoo applications to remove build up on the coat.
It can require a special clarifying shampoo to get the skin and coat clean.
For dogs that do not enjoy the bath this creates more stress.

Dogs that go past the suggested routine schedule are in the salon less and not getting routine exposure, this makes grooming more stressful.

Your groomer will recommend a time frame to rebook based on your dogs coat condition upon check in, behavior during the groom, and the length of the coat at the end of the groom.
This recommendation is for the well being of your pup and will help you maintain a manageable coat in addition to keeping your pups ears, nails, teeth, and skin in healthy condition.

When your pup is on a routine they know what to expect and feel more comfortable with their groomer. When your pup comes into the groomer in good condition they don't have to deal with tangle removal, or sore nails being trimmed. This makes grooming more enjoyable and allows them to create a special bond with their groomer.

Pairing your pup with a groomer that is able to have open communication and takes time to offer suggestions, and care tips between grooms. A groomer can also give behavioral feed back and suggest ways to work on desensitizing at home. Desensitization helps pups get used to things in the salon.
Feedback is good!

Before choosing a groomer, read their website and chat with them a bit via email, messenger, text or call to get a feel for their personality. It is important to vibe with your groomer and feel comfortable. Get a feel for their experience level. Anxious pups can require a more experienced groomer. It can make a world of difference for your dog to be paired with someone consistently. Bouncing from salon to salon can cause grooming anxiety and does not allow dogs to build trust with their groomer. A introductory visit can make all the difference in a new salon.

Groomers should be able to modify their approach to make the pup feel safe and should always put their well being above all else.

Patience goes a long way with dogs.
Giving breaks, praise and treats can create an enjoyable experience.
