So I got an update about Ellie the other day....this sweet girl is finally starting to adjust to life with her new family! For the first couple of weeks, she had a hard time getting along with her new kitty brother and human daddy. But now she's finally starting to play with them and feel safe!

The holidays have come and gone, and poor Ellie still has not found her forever family 😭. She is so sweet and playful! She's fully vaccinated and spayed. She's good with other cats, dogs, and kids. If you are interested in adopting her, please send a message!

During this season of giving, please consider donating to Ellie's veterinary fund. I have been fostering her since October and finding a home for her in such a small town is proving to be very challenging. Today she had to go to the vet because she had an infected sore on her lip. That bill was $86. It will be about another $100 to get her spayed. And the remaining $64 is to cover the cost of her food and vaccines.

Ellie-Joy is about 3.5 months old and she needs to either find her forever family or go to a rescue! She has been vaccinated and dewormed and shows no signs of being positive for any illnesses. She is energetic, smart, playful, cuddly, and loving! She gets along well with children, dogs, and other cats.

Help Ellie find a place so we can have room to bring French Fry inside! French Fry is a black and white tuxedo tom that has been wandering around our complex for about a year, and one day we noticed a little kitten following him around everywhere! We were worried that the kitten, Ellie, would get hit by a car so we brought her inside and promised French Fry that we would do the same for him once she found a place.

This is Ellie Joy! She is approximately 12 weeks old and she's looking for her forever family! She is a very playful and spunky little kitten! She loves to snuggle and be held once she's tired herself out from playing! Her other favorite things include watching TV (especially the bird watch channel) and cuddling with her stuffed unicorn! Update #2: Her name is Ellie Joy! Her first name is after the character from the Disney movie UP because of her spunky and adventurous spirit! Her middle name is Joy!

UPDATE: Her name is Joy! I picked that name because it's the name of my favorite Disney characters, it's the name of my grandmother who loves cats, and I need as much joy in my life as possible!

In the annals of bad weekends, this one may go down in BFDR history as close to the worst. The van we own and upon which we rely has apparently chosen today to have the transmission die. Worse, this poor guy had a run in at interstate speeds with a car and lost. We're supposed to be on an intake hold, but I could not stand the idea of this dog being euthanized because the shelter couldn't afford his care and the owner did not want him back. So here we are.

This poor guy will need a name but he was rescued by us and taken to a vet hospital where he is getting all the care. He pretty much ate the front quarter panel of a car and he has a busted up face, his scapula is broken and he has several broken ribs among other injuries. It could have been much worse, but this is the sweetest happiest guy you have ever met even though he is in epic pain.

The vets say he is very fixable and he is lucky to have survived. Notice I did not say he is lucky, because if he was lucky he would not have been hit in the first place. He will not be a cheap fix.

This lady got arrested for "stealing" a dog from an abusive and neglectful owner. The dog was returned to the abusive owners because no one could show actual proof of abuse, such as video surveillance footage. This woman had the balls to do what 98% of us other animal rescuers don't have the courage to do. And the police officer's hands were tied by a law that does not know the difference between someone who is stealing a dog from a loving home for selfish reasons, and someone who is stealing a dog from an abusive owner with every intention of saving them.

Yesterday our sweet little Elmo lost his life long battle with Feline Leukemia. He was just a year and a half old when he went to be with Jesus. We knew that our time with him would be short and we are so blessed to that God put him in our lives. RIP Elmo!
