June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, a time when many kittens are born and often end up in animal shelters. The Wake County Animal Center is hosting a special adoption event exclusively for cats, allowing the public to adopt any cat over six months old for just $5. This initiative aims to find homes for older kittens and adult cats, making room for the influx of younger kittens.

On this Memorial Day, let us remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation. Their selfless actions and unwavering commitment to freedom will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends, let us take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy today because of their sacrifice. Let us also keep in our thoughts and prayers the families of the fallen, whose lives have been forever changed by the loss of their loved ones. May we never forget the price of freedom and may we always strive to honor the memory of those who gave everything for our country. God bless America.

Yes, heartworm prevention is still necessary for indoor pets. While indoor pets have a lower risk of contracting heartworm disease compared to outdoor pets, they are not completely immune. Mosquitoes, which transmit heartworm larvae, can still enter homes and potentially infect pets. Additionally, some indoor pets may still spend time outdoors or have contact with other animals that could be infected. Heartworm prevention medication is safe, effective, and can prevent serious and potentially life-threatening heartworm infections, so it's important to discuss with your veterinarian and follow their recommendations for your pet's health.

Is your furry friend anxious during vet visits? π It's natural for dogs to feel nervous in unfamiliar environments, but there are ways to help calm them down and make the experience more pleasant for everyone. Here are some tips to make vet visits easier for your pet:
1. Practice at home: Get your dog used to being handled and examined at home by gently touching their paws, ears, and teeth. This will help them feel more comfortable during the actual vet visit.
2. Use positive reinforcement: Reward your dog with treats and praise for good behavior at the vet's office. This will help create a positive association with the experience.
3. Bring their favorite toy or blanket: Having familiar objects nearby can help comfort your dog and make them feel more secure in a new environment.
4. Stay calm: Dogs are very intuitive and can sense when their owners are anxious. Stay calm and reassure your pet with a soothing voice and gentle touch.
5. Consider natural remedies: If your dog is still anxious, you can try natural remedies like pheromone sprays or calming supplements to help them relax.
Remember, your dog's well-being is the top priority, so be patient and understanding during vet visits. With a little extra care and attention, you can help make the experience as stress-free as possible for your beloved pet. πΎβ€οΈ
Welcome to the exciting world of picking the perfect furry companion for your family! πΆ Here are some steps to help you find the dog that best suits your lifestyle and needs:
1. Research different breeds: Think about your family's activity level, living space, and grooming preferences. Some breeds are high-energy and need plenty of exercise, while others are more laid-back and low-maintenance.
2. Consider size: Make sure to choose a dog whose size fits your living arrangements. A small apartment might not be the best fit for a large breed, while a tiny teacup pup might get lost in a big backyard.
3. Meet the dog: Spend time with different dogs to see which one clicks with your family. Their personalities can vary, so finding a dog that matches your family's vibe is crucial for a lasting bond.
4. Check for compatibility: If you have kids or other pets, make sure the dog you choose is good with others. Some breeds are known for being great with children, while others might prefer a quieter household.
5. Consider adoption: Save a life and give a dog in need a loving home by visiting a local shelter or rescue organization. There are so many wonderful dogs waiting for their forever families!
By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to finding the perfect pup for your family. π‘πΎ Happy dog hunting!

New member of the family? Know the basics of pet first-aid if you have a pet in your family. Being able to react quickly in an emergency, such as your pooch being bitten by a snake, can mean the difference between life and death. And make sure to keep up to date with vaccines!
It really isnβt an easy task to potty train your puppyβ just like human babies, puppies take lots of time and direction in order to get full control of their bladder and bowels. π Two-month-old puppies usually need to βgoβ roughly around every two hours. At three months, your pup will be able to hold it in for three to four hours; and at four months, up to five. Soon, your puppy will be fully trained and no longer have accidents in the home. Until that time comes, take him or her for short walks extra often.
New puppy or new dog in the family? Make sure you have enough time to devote to its training. A well trained dog is a happy dog!

We have been servicing the Raleigh- Garner community since 2002. A family owned and operated business, we strive to keep connection to our clients on a more intimate level. You wonβt see a new doctor every time you visit. We know what your pet relationship is to you. We also know you have priorities and sometimes life gets in the way with the optimum pet care. We are pet owners too. We will work with you, if you will work with us to help give your pet the medical care it needs so you can enjoy each other for a long time.
We also reject cold, corporate business dynamics that you may have experienced with other clinics in the area. While it may be understandable from an efficiency standpoint to follow rigid protocols and procedures, we feel it takes away from the art of medicine. Simply put, pets are not automobiles. They donβt have alogrithms. They donβt have instruction manuals and we wonβt treat your pet like a model unit of an autoparts store.
We look forward to building your trust, if you are willing to give us a try.
Sincerely,
Frank Ansede, DVM
