The K9 Crew, an initiative of the SPCA of Wake County's Behavior Team, is a group of trained volunteers that focus on highlighting some of the dogs who linger at the SPCA. The K9 Crew was first called the "Pit Crew" and originated to repair and rebuild the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier in our community. That work will continue as we move forward as the K9 Crew.

Hi there, I'm Doe and let me tell you - I'm an expert snuggler! 🤗 I may have had a rough start, rescued from the streets where I was so scared. But thanks to my amazing foster family, I've learned that the world isn't so scary after all. In fact, it's filled with so much love!
These days, my favorite thing is cuddling up with my humans. There's nothing I love more than getting all cozy and soaking up all the pets and belly rubs. I'm a total velcro dog now! 💕

Our best boy Banks ❤️ is so happy to be playing with one of his volunteer friends this morning. This wonderful, loving, smart, high energy, water-loving boy has been at the SPCA far too long with no interest. Hi there- my name is Luna! I'm a playful girl that loves tug-o-war and stuffed animals (although you should always supervise me with them since I like to tear them up). One of my favorite things is if you throw my stuffed animal in the air- I will catch it and IMMEDIATELY break out into an adorable case of the zoomies. When I'm done playing with my toys and zooming around the play yard, my favorite thing to do is lay down and sunbathe. I just wish I had a human friend who would play and sunbathe with me. Is it you??

Howdy, friends! I'm Luka, a lovable pup with a heart of gold 🥰 I may be a little older, but I'm still a young pup at heart, ready to bring endless joy and wagging tails to my new forever family.
There's nothing I enjoy more than basking in the warm sunlight, feeling the soft grass between my paws, and receiving all the pets a good boy could ask for.
While I'm working on my sharing skills, I may do better in a home without young children for now. But rest assured, I'll shower you with unconditional love and loyalty, making up for it with my affectionate and gentle nature.

Meet Ms. Rainbow! 🌈
This sweet girl is around 2.5 years old and full of energy and personality. She's currently learning "sit" and doing a great job. Ms. Rainbow gets so excited that she can't resist jumping up to greet you and play! Definitely something her new family can continue to work on 🥰
Ms. Rainbow absolutely loves her ball (which will come with her) and playing with rope toys. After burning off some energy, she loves to cuddle up and have her head, neck and body rubbed. If you're sitting down, she'll tuck her head right into your lap for some loving pets 💕
A few things to note:
Because of her her size and energy level, dogs her same size or larger would be best. A meeting with your resident dog is recommended. Kitties are a little too interesting for her so a cat free home would be best.

There’s nothing like starting your day with a Frogger smile 😊. Frogger is 6 years old and weighs about 80 pounds. He is a tall boy who loves to stretch his legs on strolls around the neighborhood before snuggling up with his favorite people. He can be a bit dog selective. Frogger has the sweetest heart and is on medication to keep it healthy. Stop by and meet Frogger 🐸 soon!

🍾 Sometimes our dogs need a “unicorn home”. That one in a million home where they will thrive. Champagne (affectionately known as The Princess) was one of those dogs. She had significant stranger danger issues and needed to be the only pet. Any potential adopters would need to be willing to meet with Champagne on her terms and multiple times over weeks. Adopters would also need to communicate and work with our awesome animal care staff to understand her needs and quirks. Well, a few weeks ago, that unicorn home walked into the SPCA and started the process to get to know our Princess. Although Champagne’s adoption is very recent, it looks like she is settling in nicely. We love you Champagne - have a great life 🍾

Clyde may be 9 years old, but he doesn’t know that. He loves to go on walkies and has the best bouncy prance. He is wonderful on leash. Clyde would probably do best in a home without felines. He is the best boy and deserves to find the most wonderful forever home.

It’s early and Rebel hasn’t had breakfast yet, but he is ready to start his day. Rebel has tons of energy and loves a fun game of fetch. He is also a good running buddy and has run a 5k with one of his volunteer friends. Rebel is 1 1/2 years old and weighs 45 pounds.

She can be nervous in new situations and would like to be the only furry family member in her new home. She would do best if she had a dog-savvy person as her new pet parent. She has bounced around a bit and would love to settle into her forever home 💛
We love to use slow feeders with some of our more high energy dogs. Michu had his first experience with one today. He feels he needs to access his breakfast a bit more easily. Guess you could say he is a problem solver….
