This amazing boy needs a lifeline now. His last day is tomorrow 11/26!!!
For some reason Rowan Animal Shelter makes too many of the dogs there only be available if a certified 501c3 pulls them. This is even the case for many dogs that are not aggressive, rather merely only reactive out of pure fear & not knowing where they are and what is being done to them by total strangers (which is totally to be expected, especially for dogs that have been abused or severely neglected). It almost always is a death sentence for many of the very scared, afraid, and hurt yet very good dogs that should be allowed to be adopted by anyone versus only a 501c3 rescue having to pull them from ROWAN to keep them from being euthanized. I do not know who at Rowan AS makes the call on a rescue must pull and the dog not being "adoptable" by the public but it appears from observation of this repeated pattern there is not much compassion or understanding for why the dog may be reactive...given the situation & environment he/she is in. So very sad.

Meet Casper a estimated two year-old German Shepherd mix. He was found as a stray, and the lady described him as terrified. The shelter has made him rescue only due to that behavior! My heart breaks for him! He seems to be your typical German Shepherd. He also knows some commands! He needs structure and guidance someone that knows the breed well that could foster him. Please let us know if you can help him. He is heartworm negative and he has also been neutered by the Shelter vet. There is a very cute video of him that we will put in the comments.

LAST CALL🚨🚨
We wanted to post this sweet girl one more time. It is hard to believe she is still at the shelter. She is a absolute happy sweet girl and so deserves her forever home. She came in emaciated and skinny and is doing so great. Please come today to meet her the shelter is open until four and also the adoption event is tomorrow from 930 to 3.

Meet sweet Evie a estimated five-year-old German Shepherd mix that came into the shelter very skinny and she is heartworm positive, but she has been treated and is doing so great. She is now ready for her forever home.

These pups have been at shelter for a month and have not really made any progress. They don’t huddle in the corner quite as much, and one is a little more brave taking treats but that’s it. Sadly the shelter staff are so limited in time they do not have the time to give them to help socialize them. There also aren’t really any local daily hands-on volunteers like so many shelters are lucky to have. They will be euthanized this week if they are not adopted/rescued. Shelter has lots more puppies coming in and no space. This is a rural southern open intake county run shelter. They do not have the ability to turn animals away like your “no kill” shelters. By the way, “no kill” just means they don’t euthanize for space. Doesn’t mean they won’t do it.

About pledges: Pledges are only collected/sent to our approved rescue partners. We do this to ensure our followers money is going to reputable groups. If anyone would like to attempt to work with us, they should fill out the app on our website below. We are not your “normal” networking page. Please read the about us section for info on us.
The process on our page: We try and raise at least $700 (inflation is killing us) in pledges for each dog who is in good condition and we likely can find a foster for. If a dog is in bad condition & likely hw+ we strive for $1100 goal due to the injections & boarding for the treatment. Pull fees at the shelter are currently $35 for the vaccines shown below. We are a non-profit so we collect the pledges, subtract the pull fee and donate what’s left to the rescue for whatever else they may need (further vetting, HW testing, HW treatment, transport, boarding, etc.). Pledges are for non-profit rescue partners only. Please help us help them! Pledges are ONLY for rescue orgs. partnered with us.
