Dalton isn’t just looking for a home… he’s looking for his person (or people) to share every adventure, every lazy Sunday, and every little moment in between.

This handsome boy is the perfect mix of cheerful and chill — he can keep up on a hike or happily snooze the day away if that’s the vibe. He’s naturally well-behaved, good-natured, and loyal to the core. Dalton loves being part of the action and isn’t one to be left behind… if you’re there, he wants to be right beside you.

He gets along well with other dogs and cats, though every now and then he likes to remind everyone that he could totally run the team if needed. It takes him a little time to warm up to new folks, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ve got a steadfast best friend for life.

Dalton’s ready to find the person who wants to experience life together…through the calm, the chaos, and everything in between.

UPDATE - Elsie has been adopted!

There’s something so special about senior dogs—the way they love deeply, cherish companionship, and remind us that the simple things in life matter most. Elsie (8) and Jack (10) are both looking for a family to call their own, where they can spend their golden years surrounded by love. (They are each looking for their own forever home.)

🐾 Elsie has spent her life raising puppies and is now ready to be the baby of the family herself. She’s dreaming of soft beds, gentle walks, and soaking up all the attention.

🐾 Jack lost his person when his owner passed away, and now he’s searching for that connection again. He’s happiest when he can simply follow his people around and just be with you.

Both Elsie and Jack are wonderful with other dogs, easy-going, and would make the perfect companions for someone who wants a loyal shadow by their side.

URGENT🚨🚨the shelter is full!! The Shelter had 12 Owner surrenders this morning. Yes all from the same home and please let’s focus on getting them out not why they’re here.
They are all 12 week old Lab mixes. They are beautiful but scared. Please read below what staff has to say. We need dogs to be adopted to make space so please come to meet them.

No this isn't the newest boy band, this is 5 handsome pups that need out of the shelter ASAP. They are part of the 12 we brought in this morning, and we are already in love. They are afraid and unsure, and in dire need of a new home, a cozy bed, and lots of love. They need a new life, one better than their last.
We will post each pup individually in the comments.

Here's to hoping they all find homes by the end of the day!

This poor scared boy was found as a stray! We feel so bad for him. He is so scared he is heartworm - and 68 pounds. Please read below what Shelter staff had to say about this sweet boy. He needs a Foster and Rescue, please Sharon and pledge to help him.

501c3 Rescue Only - Fearful behavior in shelter.

This gentle giant, Miles, our handsome Pyrenees, is still here at the shelter holding onto hope. He has had very little interest from rescues, and the few who have reached out, never followed through. Now time is running extremely short, and he desperately needs a rescue commitment.

Pyrenees experience is a must with this guy. If you know the breed, you know what we mean. Miles only wants to be outside, left alone, to do what he does best...work and watch. He will need land and someone who can provide stimulation needed for the Pyrenees breed.

Meet Anastasia, she is available for adoption at the WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center. She originally came in as a stray with another dog, a female Pyrenees.

PS: Wake County does not cat test dogs and minors under 18 are not allowed in the facility so we do not know about children.
