HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! JOHN CLEESE!! ...Born October 27, 1939...English actor. One of the founders of the Monty Python comedy troop. TV: Monty Python's Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers (1975, 1979, Basil Fawlty). Film: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Life of Brian (1979), The Meaning of Life (1983), and A Fish Called Wanda (1989).
Fawlty Towers was created and written by Cleese and Connie Booth, who also starred in the show. They were married when the series began in 1975, but were divorced by the second season in 1979. Cleese got the idea for Fawlty Towers after he stayed at a hotel in Torquay, Devon where the owner acted rude and snobbish and as if the guests were an annoyance to him.

October 25, 1964...Rolling Stones First Appearance on Ed Sullivan...The Rolling Stones make their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts performed Around & Around and Time Is on My Side to screaming fans. Because of the chaos of the screaming fans, Sullivan initially banned them from appearing again. However, they returned the following spring for a series of appearances on the show. They were banned again in 1967 after their performance of "Let's Spend *Some Time* Together."

At one time, she dated singer/songwriter Paul Anka and he wrote his hit song Puppy Love about her.
She died of complications due to multiple sclerosis.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RONALD MCNAIR!!! The Library that Wouldn't Serve Him Because He Was Black, Is Now a Museum Named in His Honor

Ronald Erwin McNair...Born October 21, 1950 d. 1986...American astronaut, physicist. When McNair was eight years old, he visited the segregated Lake City, South Carolina public library, but they only served white patrons and wouldn't allow him to check out any books. When he refused to leave, the police and his mother were called. The library begrudgingly relented when the officer asked, "Why don't you just give him the books?" That library has since been converted into a museum named "Ronald McNair Life History Center" in his honor. McNair also went on to earn a Ph.D. degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
McNair was killed in the Challenger Disaster, when the space shuttle disintegrated shortly after takeoff.
