Jaqweenie nose bump update: It’s not a histiocytoma or an injury. It’s actually a very uncommon type of ringworm called a fungal kerion. His vet hasn’t seen one in a decade. She asked if he ever digs in the dirt and I had to say only ALL THE TIME!

We are treating it with topical metronidazole. It was wild how fast it popped up. It was a pretty big bump to appear overnight. If anyone can survive a bump on his nose it’s Jaqweenie. 💪

The satisfaction of being the big boy dad chooses to take to the hardware store is unparalleled. Suck it Orson! Jaqweenie likes to find places to pose for pictures because he knows I’ll give him a treat. That’s why he decided to get on the shelf. He was indeed compensated.

Yes, Kirby is literally being tortured by having his picture taken. I had to throw in a Fabio picture since it seems like some of y’all get mighty uncomfortable if you have to go too long without your sc***um fix.

Orson is putting his best wiggle wand forward! Happy to all my Orson Freaks!

Tricky Ricky and Quattro Formaggi are still looking for homes. I had hoped to get them adopted in time for Christmas, but it’s not looking like that’s going to happen for them. 🥺 Tricky Ricky is a very nice boy. I don’t know why he hit Orson in the face like that. 😆

Their littermate got a DNA test so we know that they are 74.1% American Pit Bull Terrier, 16.4% Australian Shepherd, and 9.5% Boxer. Tricky Ricky (big boy) is a total love bug. The construction in our yard unearthed Jaqweenie’s Easter egg! He is very pleased.

Our new fence should be completed by today or tomorrow!!! It’s going to be amazing!

If you’re wondering why Jaqweenie is looking up it’s because Orson did an enormous, wet burp that startled everyone. In the past month, Jaqweenie has gotten extremely close to this snuggle puppy. 💕

Jaqweenie’s bump is looking worse, and I’m not sure the antibiotics are helping. Luckily the boys have an appointment next week for their Lyme vaccine so I can ask them to check it out then.

Ol’ Scrungle does a snoozle. Fabio had a little episode that might have been a seizure. His teeth were chattering but he wasn’t cold. This was after his vet visit for a nail trim so it could have been stress related. He’s fine now.

Jaqweenie and Fabio go to the vet! Jaqweenie has a bump on his nose that suddenly appeared. The vet thinks it’s either an injury that got infected or a Histiocytoma. He’s on antibiotics and we’ll monitor it for now. I’m not happy about this bump marring Jaqweenie’s otherwise perfect face. That’s his money maker!

Fabio joined to get his nails trimmed. I’m perfectly capable of microchipping puppies, and that’s an enormous needle, but I’m absolutely terrified of accidentally cutting Fabio’s quick. I had been amping myself up and trimming one at a time, but decided to let the pros handle it. I could hear him making some wild noises from the waiting room so I’m glad I paid them to do it.

Fabio blissing out in the car is the cutest thing! *I’ve mentioned this before, but this is not a safe way to ride with your dog. My dogs & fosters always ride in a crash tested harness or in a crate, but due to Fabio’s age and health I’ve decided not to stress him out by forcing him to ride that way. He really gets himself worked up into a state.

It’s a great day to be an Orson!

A little action at the end for my Orson Freaks.

Just so no one thinks Fabio is suddenly trustworthy with other dogs, I had been sitting in between him and Jaqweenie, but briefly stood up to take a picture. Usually, I make a pillow fort to barricade him in so he doesn’t try to start a fight with Jaqweenie. I don’t have to worry about him with Orson because Orson would just run away if Fabio attacked him. Jaqweenie is not one to back down from a fight, even if that fight is with a blind geriatric. *If you’re new here, Fabio hates other dogs. He tries to attack them when he becomes aware of their presence. His attacks are pretty harmless because he only has six teeth, but I have to protect him from himself. Even though Jaqweenie has a deformed jaw, it’s possible he could hurt Fabio. He could certainly get a good chew in!

Sometimes I look over at Fabio and am struck by how weird it is that this little gremlin lives here.

Fabio is furious about the construction in our backyard. He has the yard mapped out and doesn’t appreciate changes. I’m a little concerned he may be putting a hex on me.

We had to tear out a bunch of vegetation that had grown into our chain link fence because we’re replacing it with a 7’ privacy fence so the dogs stop barking at our neighbors whenever they see them. I also don’t want to have to worry about any foster dogs escaping. The last mom we had was perfectly capable of jumping our fence.

We’re putting in a sally port (double gate) so Orson can’t get out as people leisurely enter our yard without any concern for our little escape artist. Orson has a penchant for chasing cars and I’m trying to keep this boy alive.

I’m really hoping to wrap this up quickly because one of Fabio’s favorite activities is bumping around the yard. Being blind means the piles of debris present a real obstacle for Baby Grandpa.

The black dog is Digby. He’s a former foster puppy who likes to visit to play with my current puppies. Jaqweenie is always outraged when our puppies get bigger than him. Poor guy!

Happy 6th Gotcha Day to Jaqweenie!

We adopted Jaqweenie six years ago and think he was about a year old, so our boy is 7 years old! 🥹 We’re so lucky to have this special little man in our family. Jaqweenie was most likely a stray the first year of his life, but I’d say he’s landed on his feet!

I might have to cancel Jaqweenie’s birthday party. We are getting a new fence installed, so we pushed his birthday party back to the 14th because the fence was supposed to be done the 12th. Now the guy is telling me he doesn’t think it will be done by then. I had even hired to do pet portraits at his party. I’m trying to find an alternative location, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen. I swear we have the worst luck with contractors! I had a bad feeling about this guy, but I’ve been ghosted by so many fence contractors that I went ahead with him anyway. I am starting to regret it. Luckily, his workers are very nice so I know they are at least going to do their best.

*This is a very dangerous way to ride but Fabio won’t tolerate a seatbelt or riding in a crate. He’s here for a good time, not a long time so I make allowances for Fabio’s emotional wellbeing, but please don’t ride like this with your dog. A wreck would either send him flying through the windshield or I would crush him with my body. Ask people who work in car insurance how common this is! My cousin works in law-enforcement and he told me about having to return a lady’s dog in a paper bag after a minor wreck. That s**t stuck with me.

I was getting stuff out of my suitcase, a.k.a. my childhood soccer bag, and this little head appeared. Y’all, I’ve had this duffel bag for 30 years and it’s still the perfect weekend bag. Not only is it environmentally friendly to use what you have, but it also makes me happy every time I use it! , money please! 💵🫲

Since Orson got on the right dose of Prozac he hasn’t had any potty accidents inside, but his grandparents don’t trust him quite yet so he’s wearing his jorts.

Did anyone else notice that stores didn’t carry gourds this year? If you’ve been following for a while, you know about my annual post about hairy gourds. The lack of availability of gourds really negatively impacted my traditional holiday post.

Please appreciate Fabio’s wide tongue peeking out the sides of his mouth. At first, I have been thinking that was his lips, but I now realize it’s his ginormous tongue.

I hope you guys are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am grateful for these fellows as well as for this wonderful community.
